There are all sorts of temptations in this world that will eat away at your creative spirit, but none more fiendish than that boundless machine of artistic demoralisation, ChatGPT.
As humans, we so often feel helpless in our own smallness, yet still we find the resilience to do and make beautiful things, and this is where the meaning of life resides. Nature reminds us of this constantly. The world is often cast as a purely malignant place, but still the joy of creation exerts itself, and as the sun rises upon the struggle of the day, the Great Crested Grebe dances upon the water. Why don't we, ourselves, verify each other? People who we know personally and know they Nostr profiles. Also users who we do not know but follow and have read a whole bunch of their notes, and we see others are interacting with them. The more verifications a user has the more genuine his account is.
For example, we all could now verify your account because we can acknowledge your identity, and you can be the first person verified. Than you start verifying other users and so on. We will build a verification network whish is transparent, a spider web of interactions. Of course, we need a verification button for that reason.
Births, marriages, deaths all had witnesses for ages, and for the same reason to verify the event or person.
And, why our digital identity has to be the same as our government ID?
This probably has advances and limitations but could be worked on.

Is our digital identity state-approved-birth-certificate identity or who we are in the digital world?
IMHO on nostr we could verify each user we know or follow by approving their npub. The user approved by a great number of others has more genuine ID. How genuine other accounts are would also influence genuineness of the user. If nsec is stolen, we unverify old account and verify the new one.
This functioned before any IDs or papers were issued by the government. People knew and recognized their friends. With digitalization we don't need to meet these people in person or see them to know them digitally.
I would be interested what @PABLOF7z @ODELL think about this topic and solutions.

I read a grim report by UNDP digital strategy and their four forcasts what our #future will look like. Quite pessimistic assuming people are mainly selfish, self-centered, non-altruistic. Definately not intelligent and in need to be controlled. As a #father I started worrying what the #future would look like and what skills my children will need in it. They are surrounded by technology that seems to hypnotize them. And that is fine with us when we have work to do. But being to dependant on what #tech offers doesn't seems right. Their mental skills are still developing. Paper published couple of years ago in #Nature journal showed that human brain is the fastest growing organ until the age of 12, and that is unique to the #humans. This is the window to develop mental skills. Apart from school and upbringing I think 3 skills are essential with rising technology and #AI :
1. Mathematics,
2. Memory,
3. Logics and decision making.
They should preform calculation without the help of apps, not look at the phone to recall data, and know how to find resources of information and make a conclusion. They should read all kind of books often, know how to politely speak to people, and be skeptical. Future will show if this is possible to achieve.

We can't fish with our hands or teeth but with the fishing rod, nets, and boats we are outperforming every living creature on 🌎 We have used technology to quicken and increase our material production and mental processes. I (and most of us) have used calculators, notebooks, and apps to replace our mental functions that we do not find always reliable: calculation and storage. It seems there is the point when most of us will be dependant on external tools (besides our brain) for these mental tasks. I see more people (especially younger) using phones for simple calculus and not trying to remember everyday data as we used to in the past. We weren't born with abilities to fish effectively but we have capacity for mathematics and memory. Loosing it and replacing it with artificial tools will be loss for us all.
