Something has happened to me. I find no fulfillment in anything.
Things I used to love or couldn’t wait to do have gone stale. I almost resent having to do them.
Work is unfulfilling and feels like a giant waste of time. Probably because it doesn’t provide for a family. I’ve been chasing fiat for 25 years and it’s a losing game by design.
I’ve even felt this way about Bitcoin lately. I’m a giant Maxi, but some days I just want to say “Fuck it” and cash out. I’m exhausted the minute I wake up from all the bullshit around the world. Prices increasing every day on EVERYTHING!

That’s directionally right, but it’s only half the equation.
Optimizing uploads helps downstream consumption, sure, but if the cost of that optimization is pushed onto every poster’s device, you’ve just shifted the burden rather than minimized it. In a system where most users are passive consumers, you want to reduce aggregate work across the network, not just relocate it.

“Just compress everything on the client” doesn’t scale cleanly in a decentralized system. In something like Nostr, the bottleneck isn’t just bandwidth, It’s where the optimization happens. Centralized apps are fast because they push heavy work upstream: servers pre-process, transcode, resize, cache, and serve device-appropriate assets. The client is basically getting a tailored stream.
If every Nostr client independently compresses, resizes, and optimizes, you’re actually duplicating compute across the network. That’s inefficient and, ironically, worse for battery/CPU on low-end devices.

I have begun mining during off peak hours only.
I hate turning off the miner. At $.0461 per kWh, it much cheaper and more profitable to only mine at that time compared to $.1750 per kWh during peak.
I have been unable to offset heating cost with my current electrical setup in my furnace room. It worked for a little while but began tripping the breaker and we would wake up in the middle of the night with very low temps in the house.
I’m starting to realize that mining is a low time preference strategy.

Man…. It’s amazing (and sad) how much the Bitcoin ecosystem is changing.
When I discovered bitcoin, it felt wild, free, and pure. The OG crowd was amazing, knowledgeable and loving.
Like everything in this world, it gets corrupted by self interest and government overreach. The worst part is that we invited them in.

@nprofile…ajr9 Trying to utilize the @nprofile…nja8 business account and I feel like the business side needs some work. I say all of this as a loyal customer for 5 years and new to the business side.
- It doesn’t give me a bank account to pay bills like the personal account.
- From what I can tell, I can’t receive lightning payments like the personal side without putting in a value. Being able to receive lightning is HUGE for my business.
- I cannot toggle between my business and personal accounts on the app. I can only use the business via desktop.

Finally got the miner hooked up to my HVAC. I put it on the intake side of the furnace.
There are heating coils that the gas typically warms up to around 135F and lets the coils do most of the work heating the home. By putting the miner on the input side, I have increased the temperature of the coils from 73F to 83.6F when the gas isn’t warming them.
My hope is that my miner will help offset the gas having to turn on as frequently to keep my home warm. Not only am I heating the coils, I’m also pushing warmer air from my miner through the ducts.
Will keep you posted.

I still have the fold app and my debit card has $2 on it from 2023. 😂 I still spin daily though. 💪🏽
I wasn’t a fan of having to spend $100 a year just to use a debit card that I was loading with money.
Also, can you pay car payments, mortgage, etc. with it? Those types of payments usually require a bank account.
Again, I haven’t use it for 3 years so I may not be up to speed.

Unfortunately I don’t have any ceiling fans in my living room. I have thought about buying a duct fan that attaches to the miner to help push the air farther into the house. I would need one anyways if I was to hook up to the HVAC. It’s maybe worth a shot.

My first mining issue:
My Avalon Q was set up in my dining room and blowing heat into my living room. The entire kitchen, living room, and dining room were comfortably warm. However, if the doors weren’t open to the rooms upstairs, they would get to about 65 F at night while the thermostat said the house was at 73. This caused problems for my wife and my children.
I have to figure out how to hook up this miner to my HVAC so that the heat blows out evenly across the house. Right now I have it outside and it’s driving me crazy that I’m wasting the heat.

I had the distinct pleasure of getting laid off in July of 2025.For 6 months, I was out of work.
Those 6 months were the best days of my life. I spent more time with my kids than I have their entire lives.

That’s just the Braiins pool.
IMO, home mining plays a significant role in overall hash stability. My miners are providing revenue and heat which leads to cost avoidance.
Generation of heat for my home = BTC reward, heat for my home, and cost avoidance for my HVAC and electrical usage.

Wow! I have to ask what your electricity rates are. That’s wild and I understand why you shut them down. My energy rates are based on peak and off-peak schedule. $.17/kWh 12hrs/day and $.04/kWh12hrs/day. Weekends and holidays run $.04 24hrs.
If I ran them 24hrs regardless of price, it would equate to roughly $.09/kWh which still isn’t bad.
Right now I have it running 24hrs with how cold it is outside. I’m actually amazed at how well it’s heating the entire upstairs floor. The back rooms will get chilly with the doors closed, but I’m working on that.

On normal fan settings 60%, it’s about 40-50.
I have the fan ripping 90%-100% so it’s a little bit higher.
It can be running 100% and nobody notices in the living room. Not loud by any means.
Trust me, my wife would say something if it was. 😂

We are ripping 91-94TH as we speak! So easy to set up. Maybe10 minutes tops.
It pushes out quite a bit of heat. I purchased the @nprofile…nsn9 exhaust shroud as well to help push the heat out. It’s in my dining room area (on 20amp circuit) pushing air towards the living room. I can feel the heat already.
Will let her run overnight and see what the temp feels like in the morning. So pumped right now.
