Don't know about buying fruit trees from these guys (don't really have space for any more / cannot easily transport them ourselves)
What I can say:
* My bottlebrushes from Oderings have been the hardiest + most reliably flowering (i.e. the silvereyes one outside my window)
* My maples are from Bunnings. Doing OK-ish (except mid-late summer). Can't remember about others.
* Mitre10 - Hmm... while they have "1 year plant survival guarantee", TBH most things I got are now dead IIRC

Ugh... just woke up from a nap to the sounds of a farmer saying they go through all the effort of shearing their sheep every year, only to have to take the whole truckload (or actually multiple truckloads) up the hill to compost them... apparently because no-one wants the stuff (even though it looks like quite nice quality, thick stuff), and it's cheaper to do this...
What a waste! 😬

Apparently some Victorian era ones contain a whole bunch of toxic compounds for their dyes / etc.
May be a good idea for housing any secrets you don't want people digging around though... the true "Restricted Section" 🤔

The southern alps were absolutely stunning in the morning sun on the drive to work this morning. Lots of fresh white snow up there - a very thick blanket I reckon!
(Pity that again the best view of those is from drivers seat - when driving!)

*Checks radars and out window*
No sign of any rain/snow producing clouds. There were some big towering lumpies over the top of Banks Peninsula, but I think they stay out there.
What we have been having though are strong cold southerlies. Icy cold, and quite gusty. (That and crystal clear skies... -4C looks like an underestimate of where things are headed)
Saw a few hardy dog-walkers out before the sun set, bundled up head to toe while their pooches bounded along.

Jealous! Didn't see so much as a fleck last night - only that the big band of potential snowmaking stuff got stalled over Lake Ellesmere by the Port Hills. 😠

The headline says it all:

Remind me again why anyone should trust a (pro-)gun lobbyist, who's IIRC been heavily involved with this outfit even, to have any role in touching policy related to the control of such things.
If I had my way, gun ownership would be illegal. Full stop. Farmers can rent guns for short periods for specific activities, as would apply to specialist sport ones.

Every time I hear about how Covid has now become "endemic" and will be with us "forever" makes me quite angry.
Angry that the world at large didn't manage to stamp it out completely back in 2020 when it first reared its ugly head. I put a large portion of the blame on the heads of the politicians whose greed, stupidity, and impatience lead us to this point.

Taken in suburban Christchurch, around 12:15 - 12:45. (It really started building around 12:05, before exploding around 12:15/17-ish, and then fading out again).
I'm sure there will be a lot more spectacular photos showing up in the coming days from more scenic locations. But, just getting to see one without having to commute into the wilderness is an awesome feeling.

That would be mighty fine! I can definitely advocate for a holiday around this time of the year
I often take anywhere from 3 - 5 days (then including any nearby weekend too) around this time of year (so that I'm not at work on my birthday, or on the days before/after either - meaning, no no sudden dramas / stress / misery to deal with around then either). So yeah, this time of year is great for a holiday!
(Though an end of the month would help break up the long July - October slog!)

Was a beautiful sunset tonight out at the airport. Got some nice footage of the A380 taking off (though the amount of bird activity around the airport was a bit disturbing)
