A mild depression today. It feels like a part of my little brain just stops working, unable to receive what it deserves. There are medications, but I don’t feel confident in the long-term consequence of it.
A doctor once explained what I feared more - the consequences of a medication or the consequences of what my body will experience for neglecting it.
I think about that often when my mood declines or spirals and it reminds me that even if a part doesn’t work, I can still just cook a nice little vegetable meal and I can still stop pressuring myself to be better.

making #feedback as popular as #introductions would be a cool usage of Nostr's zapping capacity. Usually designers or companies have to pay folks a small amount to gather feedback.
This has two great benefits that I've directly benefited from:
1. Products just get better because feedback is worth its weight in gold
2. Folks that don't prioritize being a creator in social apps still get to benefit from the differentiator that is zaps.
Given that zaps is so fundamentally different, it can exist differently, meaning that 'zapping posts or content you like' is really a legacy interaction entirely that is rooted in liking content. It can change and we ought experiment with the p2p commerce!

The humility on nostr is so refreshing man. Folks just connect because folks mean well and do well.
It’s not like this on any other platform at all. Tons of corporate-style social politics. Latino TikTok and Tech Twitter suffer from this a lot because ironically the centralized platforms have no collective cohesion or goals to work together. It’s all mostly incentivized self-promotional gimmicking.
I feel like I have a pretty good incentive to be on tech twitter because I live in the Bay Area but even then the best VC connection I’ve met were Hispanics from Miami.

This was one of the reasons I stopped posting on Tiktok. I card a lot about the folks I was serving (hispanics & technology education) but I underestimated the social consequences of the coding bear market.
The financial/economic consequences wasn't a big deal - I very much enjoy scarcity and doing more with less - but the social consequences were shocking. Apathy, cynicism and just plain cyber-bullying became normalized over the emotional state of the bull market, which was optimism, hope and excitement for the future.

IMO it’s interoperable. Block is working on identity wallet constructs with the belief that users will own many decentralized identities.
To be frank, big tech trails not too far behind with device passkeys. It’s using a similar public/private key combination with private relays.
I believe the big difference architecturally is that web5 is a mesh-like construct.

I’ve replaced web5 DIDs with a nostr key pair for authentication in my app. The trade off is clear.
Web5 gave me instant accounts, which was great for distribution and made a super smooth user experience when it came to distributing durable “AI experiences” or microapps on social media.
However, authenticating with nostr comes with a network effect. Creating an account is very simple as it only requires a user name, and creates a more visceral “I own my data” experience. So not much lost in terms of time-to-first-AI, but more material offered out of the box.
This ownership of data is important because Bitcoin balances can also be carried across applications with nostr key pairs using the cashu protocol (an ecash protocol that makes Bitcoin more usable.)
However, ultimately, there is nothing that nostr can do that web5 cannot eventually do and I believe that web5 will eventually take the position of being a parent or a container identity for much larger scale work (think X, threads, etc), especially as more web5 developers organize and create incentivizes to build more web5 apps. But that time is not now, and nostr folks are very focused.”

The reason I increased my default zap to 375 was because I thought about how I used to rationalize World of Warcraft subscriptions when I was younger. Back then, paying for online games was nascent.
If WoW was an arcade, I would be spending two quarters per day on an amazing game for many hours.
Today I spend money on X, monthly, and I have an issue with service subscriptions in the sense that it’s pretty wasteful. It’s not a cohesive like an online video game.
Spending 2-5 quarters on nostr a day adds up. It makes posters feel good and enriches the overall platform.

I wrote an X article one of my major investments, Block ($SQ). Basically the super long-term view.
Truth is Jack is focused on the performance of the company, so I’m sort of riding the wave and letting that fuel my ability to invest in my own ideas. That concept is inspired by Berkshire Hathaway - generate good profit margins with good business and invest it in the market with focus over diversification. Education for me is like insurance for them.

Haha yes i got a warm welcome some time ago but haven’t fully moved onto using nostr primarily, which is where I’m at now. The big reason is because I’ve learned an enormous amount about cryptography with NWC and cashu and have been able to push pretty interesting boundaries since then, so the choice to move is pretty clear in comparison to the algorithm apps. I’m getting older and the original version of the internet seems to be the right direction to create abundance for folks.
