Real wealth has a smell. Leather. Old wood. Fresh flowers. Quality food being cooked. Nothing synthetic. Nothing cheap. Nothing that trades longevity for convenience.
The sensory environment of a wealthy home is just a higher standard applied consistently across every detail that most people never think to elevate.

I don't talk much about my love for baseball, especially the Padres. Nostr could use more of a sports corner and I'm not waiting for anyone else to start it.
You don't have to like baseball or the Padres. Sports are where people argue hard and stay friends, so maybe this gives us something else to fight about.
Game 4 tonight vs the Brewers, so I'll be sitting in utter anxiety, usually let down by the same team I've followed since I was 5.
Anyone else tuning into the playoffs?

People come back for a voice long before they come back for a track record. You can be wrong in public a dozen times and lose almost nobody, because what a reader follows is the sense that a real person is thinking out loud.
The same post that teaches one reader will irritate another, and both reactions do the same work of sorting who belongs in your corner. A post built to offend no one ends up selecting no one. So post the half formed thing. Being wrong costs you very little, and being careful costs you the chance for anyone to learn who you are.

People expect your memes, myself included. I've written plenty of garbage posts about whatever was running through my thick skull, and they've pulled anywhere from no zaps to decent zaps. I've talked plenty of sh*t and gotten plenty wrong, and people keep coming back. There's a lot of beauty in getting to choose who you enlighten and who you trigger. Both are benefits imo. Do you, bro.

I think a campaign, or a RAID style of posting Nostr content with REAL stories on the legacy platforms, is worth trying. It would take some coordinating, but it could be done. The people to persuade are the ones who aren't making thousands of dollars chasing the algo. They could slide over and start earning bitcoin right away.

Hostility is mostly a status phenomenon and only secondarily an intellectual one. People can be contradicted for years and hold no grudge, but they rarely forgive being made small. They defend their standing first and build the principled reasons afterward. So friendliness is a refusal to injure anyone's standing, and it leaves your positions fully intact.

Reach is an advertising term. It's a count of how many people a campaign got in front of, and we use it on ourselves now as if it says something about what we wrote.
It doesn't say much. An ad wants a million people because it only needs a few of them to buy. If I post an idea, I mostly want a few people to read it properly and tell me where I'm wrong. The first Velvet Underground record barely sold, and the joke is that everyone who bought it started a band. I'd take that over big numbers.
On Nostr you just see the small number. Maybe 20 people read it, two reply, and one of them made a good point. That was probably true on Twitter as well, but you couldn't see it under all the impressions.
Obviously there’s no algorithm here to please, and most of us still post like there is from time to time . Whatever conformity is left is ours, and I find that more useful than depressing. You can't fix a thing while you're still blaming the feed for it.

Most of what we post is gone from our own memory within a week, so let's put something here that's meant to be read again.
Write one sentence to yourself five years from now and leave it on the record. Look at your life and circumstances as they stand today, and ask what you would want to read in 2031, looking back on this exact stretch.
A private journal lets you quietly revise the story later. A note signed with your key doesn't give you that option. It sits here with a timestamp, in front of witnesses, saying what you believed and what you were aiming at before you knew how any of it turned out.
One sentence is enough. I'll go first…
"You already knew what was true in 2026, so the only question worth asking is whether you lived like it."
Your turn. I'll be back in five years to read every one. Repost, zap and pass it on.

Chapter 2 of The Christian Man is up as a long form read. This one is on the fear of the Lord.
Every man is afraid of something. For most of us it's other people. What the boss thinks, what our friends think, whether our kids still like us. A man can hold all the right doctrine and still run his whole life on that.
Scripture says the fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins, and I think it's also where courage begins. Once a man settles whom he finally has to please, he can say no. He can be misunderstood and stay steady, and he can do honest work with nobody watching.
For a man in Christ this fear has nothing to do with dread. It's a son's reverence for a Father he knows is good.
Chapter 1 is for sale on @npub16lv…7j3k for only 42 Sats. I’ve provided this for free today. https://fanfares.io/s/EvdyWb#pay

The internet is likely being taken over by the government. Legacy news media, the old propaganda arm, is dying and no longer holds a deep footprint in people's lives. It used to be the newspaper. Now the same machine has to work through the social media apparatus, and X, TikTok, Instagram and the rest have been taken over as a means to push algorithmic plagues of lies and deceit.
By the way, the Pneumonic Plague is back? In Russia, with one dead and about 200 being quarantined. I wonder why this little psyop is happening. Hmm. Any elections coming up?
Nostr might be the last little place that cannot be captured. A refuge. A safe haven. A place where TRUTH can thrive. In my honest opinion, we have no idea of the gem and the beauty that Nostr holds in our lifetime.
Just thinking. Oh ya, GM Nostr!

Paying to be boosted is more about visibility than the note itself. You could write the best thing on Nostr today and it still dies in the feed if nobody with reach ever sees it.
That's why paid boosts are a tool worth using. Every business that ever sold anything paid for attention. The difference on Nostr is that the sats go straight to the person doing the boosting instead of a company deciding who sees you. And if someone wants to pay you to share their work, why not take it? You spent years building the audience they're borrowing.
Not everyone has thousands of followers, and you can't always rely on an "influencer" to repost you. A paid boost gives the small account a way in that doesn't depend on luck.

I want to give ordinary Christian men a rule of life. Most of what's written for men right now is about becoming “impressive”, and a lot of the Christian version is the same thing with verses attached. I'm aiming at something plainer. A man who belongs to Christ, who knows it, and who takes care of what God has put in his hands.
So the book starts with ownership and works outward from there. Your body, your marriage, sex, your kids, work, money, church, friendship, the phone, suffering, getting old, dying. Each one gets handled as a stewardship under Christ and never as a self improvement project.
The order matters to me. Grace comes first, then gratitude, then obedience. A man who gets that backwards will either quit or turn into a tyrant in his own house.
If the book works, a man finishes it and gets up the next morning to pray, love his wife, father his kids, do his job and repent when he blows it. Then he does it again. I think that kind of ordinary faithfulness is what most of us are actually missing. Myself included.

When it's no longer legal to think freely, lol, the masses will come running. Nostr will be flooded, and I don't think we're too far away from this being a reality. People rarely go looking for a free place to speak until the one they had gets taken from them.
When this occurs, just remember those who have been here working on and through Nostr, the ones using it and participating in it every day. We are early, and at some point we will be the OGs. That will count for something, because whatever culture we've built by then is the one the new people walk into.
Much help will be needed in preventing attacks and spam on relays. Web of trust was right and still is.
In the meantime, do what you want here. Just remember that people matter more than the protocol. A protocol only moves messages around, and the reason any of us keep opening this thing is who's on the other end. I have many people here I literally call friends. Love this place.

“But my people are sick, poor and in need. I’m only asking that you read my bio and see for yourself that I’m in need”

2026-10-04 14:43:35 GMT

GM Nostr.
You will be liked by some and hated and shamed by others. In the free market of a social network that's inevitable. Any open market puts a price on what you bring to it, and the price of an honest opinion is that somebody isn't going to like it. So you find yourself caught between trying to please others and just being yourself.
Speak while it's still legal. Speak your mind. Speak your opinion. Speak, period. If all you ever say is what the room already agrees with, you haven't added anything to it.
This is a fun place to be able to enter into and throw ideas, thoughts and freedom tech at each other. Ideas only get better by being pushed on, which means some of what you read here is going to bother you. Learn to be less triggered. We have enough of that already and we don't need another Twitter
