Founders setting up one company after another, getting funding here and there, winding up one company after another, defaulting on vendors and making other people’s life difficult.
Funding for startups has become toxic, creating irresponsible individuals that took funds and never have strong financial planning hence failing like dominos. If you can only be an entrepreneur by getting funds, please re-think if that is the right way? A creative mind knows how to start a business without those fancy funding.

This is a dumb question : the government came up with PDPA, legislstion to protect our personal data. But the government (remember mysejahtera?) and government owned monopoly (the one providing electricity to the whole nation) is the ones getting our data leaked. So what is the use of the law / policy?
This was brought up quite often during my studies of public policy, and it’s also one that makes us who are into this field frustrated because we tried to solve something but it only applies to normal citizen and not the government.
This frustration also made me give up completely on forensics accounting & the plan to join the anti-corruption commission, because it serve no purpose for the public but only the elites.

Make perfect sense as bitcoin adoption means much more for those sidelined by the existing system.
For most of them it is a mean of survival than a mean to get rich.

Last week I had to go to the ER at 1am due to pain on my lower abdomen that’s unbearable.
I came to the same ER in Aug’22 due to the same issue. Was admitted for 2 days and did multiple test but they can’t be 100% sure what is my problem. That bill cost up to RM12k, fully on company’s insurance.
This time the doctor told me the same thing, get admitted and we’ll check but I refused and told him to just give me treatment I can take home.
I live without medical insurance because I had epilepsy since a kid, and when that is finally over as an adult, i am suddenly a diabetic. A single health issue could just put me into poverty (i am in the mid income tier). Since the insurance company has been discriminating me, I’ll find a better way to insure myself.

I am in Malaysia, not the best public transport network, but still doable.
Used to take the metro to work daily, which can take up to 2-4hrs of travel daily, now that i work remotely, that problem solved.
Cars cost much more here due to high taxes to protect the local automotive industry plus roads are mostly congested, sometimes worse than taking the metro.

Late last year i was approached to join in a all women professional network, with top female leaders across the globe which include some top names in MNCs and investment banks. You’ll have to go through interview to join them on top of an annual fee of > $2500 per year.
My professional membership in an accounting body cost < £300 a year.
The more i thought about it now the more i think it’s such a cult. Why would you want to get $2.5k upfront from someone just to be able to network?
That said, i still prefer to stay in my cave, do my own thing. You can network without a mandatory payment here.

When i studied macroeconomics, I was taught tax is the bad guy, as it reduces spending power hence a lower AD that slows the economy.
When I did public policy later, tax is the main source of public revenue to provide public goods, and for myself i always sees it as a redistribution tool, in an ideal scenario, where power is not in play & corruption does not exist.

For the next 30 years, this person need to earn at least RM6160 per month in order to achieve that. Current median salary is about RM3k per month. My country has paid satellite TV which is a monopoly, you can imagine the fee they charge vs their service. I don’t watch TV much, just sports.
Many of us who wants to watch live sports will either stream online or what i did was having an android tv box which is actually illegal. So in order to watch live F1 races, i subscribed to F1 TV pro….just to find out live streaming is only available in the USA. I need a VPN together in order to watch live F1.

Tbh, after going through IRB guidelines, adopting bitcoin is not too much of a problem accounting & reporting wise. The IRB is pretty clear on its use cases for a normal business transaction.
Yes, tracking of cost needs to be in place, but a normal trading company with inventory needs to do that too.
Maybe I should do a study on all tax departments guidelines in South East Asia for a comparison. I know certain country in this region has banned the usage of crypto as a method of payment, thankfully my country is open to it.

Pretty much in the same here. I started utilising part of my mandatory provident fund to repay more of the mortgage so that the debt could clear out quickly. A few extra hundred $ a month could reduce length of mortgage by years.
As for buying BTC, have asked for my reimbursement to be paid in BTC moving forward for a start.

On the above, it makes sense but it depends on several other factors:
1) instalment amount
2) balance in provident fund *
3) net contribution per month (addition less withdrawal)
*loan instalment is only allowed from account 2 which is 30% of your total balance, assuming no prior withdrawal.
On average a person earning RM15k, paying a RM3.3k loan will utilise RM20k of their balance each year. If this person has RM500k to start with, it will only pay the loan for maximum 8 years after which, there will not have balance in account 2 (yes that is possible).
If you do not want to utilise the balance in your account 2 at all, for every RM1000 loan you need to earn RM14.5k per month. So a RM3.3k loan, you’ll need a monthly salary of RM47850 to have net contribution of zero per month.
