No. The UX problems #foss has are entirely down to how we negotiate our relationships between creators and users. We fail to mediate our economic interests and we fail to apportion importance to community management.
Projects that have strong relationships; have a better chance of having UX.
Because it's easier to listen to people you know and easier to act with resources.

Do you use #CAD software and #Inkscape?
The video below shows a feature I've added which was requested from cad users, but the Inkscape designers don't really like it, so I want to know from you if you think this optional functionality is important to you, or if you have never seen it but it would get in the way for you. (it's not enabled by default)
Right to left selection boxes are a touch rectangle, left to right boxes are containment rectangles:

I'm currently testing a handful of open source audio cleanup models and so many of them butcher any audio you give them into sounding american. A french accent I just tested came out sounding like a cartoon rodent after an anvil.
Note to self: they're not modelling the human voice, they're modelling Americans.

I agree with everything!
Except this: "not about money or not"
The FS world is built from such libertarian privilege that the idea of economic competence being a necessary component is maligned and actively sidelined. Not important they said.
Prey tell how a non programmer is to exercise her freedoms properly when there's no one organized enough to be hired to do the work b/c we pat ourselves on the back for our freedoms we forget about accessiblty.

Research doesn't show Adobe's UX is better.
Depending on the tool, most users I've asked are unhappy about how clunky it is.
They might ask for the same designs in features, but what they really want is the same capability. Which we should design from first principles, not by copy and pasting from Adobe (or Affinity)

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I complained that a very large #python contribution to #inkscape was poorly formatted and I felt embarrassed about pushing back and asking them to run a linter over it?
Yeah I'm not fucking embarrassed now, I'm furious. 🤬
Update: Apparently they meant a small section of it was, not the whole MR. I'm annoyed, but I'll have to take them at their word.

You may have articulated a key point about migrations.
They only work if people stay on the old platforms and use them to promote their authentic self on new platforms.
The boycott method doesn't work for these systems.

Me and @npub1ztf…u7nk just yes anded our way to a great sitcom idea. The show is called "Strapped" and it's about an american elementary school who's local authority votes to give them guns instead of pencils and notebooks. In desperation the principle and the teachers have a crisis meeting where they decide to use the guns to start robbing for the resources they need. But of course, in very teacher like ways. Getting recognised by alums, parents, etc while trying to knock off a staples.
