roughly three years ago, i spent 6 months dating the head of risk and controls at one of the largest banks in the US. btc was trading ~$25k at the time. she would come to my place and see btc books on my shelf and make the usual ignorant comments. on dinner dates, she would ask what i did that day, and i would frequently say i bought more btc. snide remarks followed. one time, in response to one of these remarks, i told her that within a year she would be having convos about btc inside her bank. she laughed. then a month later she dumped me. a year later, btc crossed 100k for the first time. ironically, she is one of the main people responsible for CFTC compliance at her bank. with btc once again trading near 100k, a bull market in sight, and today's news of the CFTC embracing btc, i don't have to ask to know that i live rent free in her head. she'll be thinking about our convos forever. and sorry mama...ya boy left the station a long time ago. ✌🏻😘

can’t remember the post but you mentioned russell napier recently and your respect for him, as well as disagreeing on btc. good point you made about communication flow that is vastly different from prior periods and may assist btc in the challenges russell offers. case in point may be right in front of us. chanos and others screaming loudly of an AI bubble. is it? sure, probably. begging for a govt backstop isn’t a great sign. those that want to get out now are likely influenced by big minds sounding the alarm on the bubble through social media. this will accelerate. and it was not possible in the late 90s and prior bubbles. it also works both ways. the bubble screamers could very well be replaced by btc screamers when the peanut butter hits the fan. and when it does, you will have gen alpha - the cohort growing up on roblox and other digitally native worlds (i see a 7 yr old interact w these w these platforms w savant-like fluidity every day) leading the charge. skeptics do not want to be offsides in that world.

HODL uses the term ‘heuristic’ a lot. so here’s one. music. fucking music. by some act of god, i had the brains to squeak by on a finance degree at an ‘elite’ institution but it was punk rock i identified with. not the green day you think. or fall out boy. or whatever tf ppl define as punk now. i was in basements running through crowds to scream lyrics while sweating alongside singers that wanted to change how the world ran. and some of these bands eventually caught the eye of industry bigwigs. i became one. you’ve heard of these bands. they now play stadiums. a crowd of purists who liked the first self made EP - or LP, or indie label demo, or whatever - won’t fill a stadium. something changes in the evolution of a band. the frontman for a street punk band says ‘the cure had a record called Pornography and it changed my life.’ and fans like me say ‘oh shit, i thought that was just me.’ so their next record has a twist that reflects an influence from The Cure. it attracts more fans. different fans. and this happens album after album. the ethos of that frontman does not change. nor does that of the band. i assure you. at heart, they are the same band of punk kids that didn’t sit right with the with a bigger audience, an evolved sound, and the moral compass that stood when they were 16 years old and kids like me were screaming ‘fuck authority’ by their side. don’t like the crowd? that’s on you, not the band. and certainly not btc. btc is that band.

because they ‘sold out’, but more people discovered bands like rancid and nofx because of that album, and dug deeper down the rabbit hole to find more. for many, punk rock became their identity. that is what is happening to btc now. you can hate the suits - and i do not exactly like them myself - but do not underestimate the minority of passionate btc die hards that will ultimately funnel down because of what is happening. each and every one of them will matter when the real clash for sovereignty hits war-like proportions.

true story. around two years ago i tried closing down a savings account w Citizens Bank that had a non-trivial amount of money in it. when i called to do so, they asked me why, and i said it was because i wasn’t earning market interest on the account. they essentially told me ‘that is not a valid reason’ and i could try again tomorrow. so i did. i made up another reason. voila, they ‘allowed’ me to close my account. if your money is someone else’s liability, it isn’t your money. your money in a bank isn’t yours. it’s an unsecured loan to a bank that can decide when you take out that money, in what increments, and on what terms. that is not how money works. it is the product of a fractional reserve banking system that has the global economy on a perpetual knifes edge. opt out.
