Zapping per post is great. You could also run a paid relay that expires monthly.

Should be relatively simple. Client detects relay is now online. Compare last note on relay with one in cache. Synchronize. Tada.

Some relays could become archival relays that you pay sats to store your old data. E.g beyond last 3 months

Any chance of getting a "X new posts" in timeline instead of it jumping manically as new ones come in?

Global chat unreadable on Amethyst. New notes should not be jumping the screen all over the place. Iris handles it well.
