And the information on how much you talk to each of them, when you do it, where you do it from, whether you transfer attachments, et cetera. Actually, Signal doesn't have access to any of this data. They're the ONLY encrypted messaging platform that has engineered it so they don't log any of this. They don't know the membership of any Signal groups. They don't even know your name and avatar -- that's part of your encrypted Signal profile. Read some of the responses to subpeonas that they publish -- ALL they can turn over for a phone number is the account creation date and the last login date https://signal.org/bigbrother/ npub1thvlrk4v447uk48sj7j8vnnkt52g36w8wu6y5pw3j4z627hj7r7qks85st Micah Lee @npub1wc2…4sk7 @npub1u6g…su6y also doesn't matter because the E2EE is all in the open source client, which confirms the server doesn't have much access to anything npub1thvlrk4v447uk48sj7j8vnnkt52g36w8wu6y5pw3j4z627hj7r7qks85st Micah Lee @npub1wc2…4sk7 Signal doesn't get CIA funding npub1thvlrk4v447uk48sj7j8vnnkt52g36w8wu6y5pw3j4z627hj7r7qks85st Micah Lee @npub1wc2…4sk7 yes. First, posts are automatically tagged via AI and you can choose to hide, warn, or show them. You can mute and block accounts, but you can also create your own mute lists (lists of accounts that you mute), and you can subscribe to other people's mute lists if you trust their judgement. https://media.infosec.exchange/infosecmediaeu/media_attachments/files/110/362/137/000/884/353/original/f4068c72a3b3168f.png https://media.infosec.exchange/infosecmediaeu/media_attachments/files/110/362/144/158/320/865/original/2708f041cb53d9ee.png npub1thvlrk4v447uk48sj7j8vnnkt52g36w8wu6y5pw3j4z627hj7r7qks85st Micah Lee People over on the invite-only beta of Bluesky (not sure how many users, but still a very small amount) are nice, happy, and excited about how interesting and open it is. Like Mastodon, it's an early decentralized social network (not compatible with the fediverse and like, with only one instance so far). Unlike Mastodon, it has much better UX, and people are very excited about getting to have good timeline algorithms that they themselves have control over. (I haven't done a scientific poll or anything, but my guess is most people online prefer algorithms to show them stuff they might miss vs. sequential timelines.) Everyone agrees Twitter is terrible now, but there's definitely a lot of people who haven't made the jump to Mastodon. I think Bluesky might end up attracting a lot of the people who are turned off by Mastodon being way too confusing and unfamiliar. npub1thvlrk4v447uk48sj7j8vnnkt52g36w8wu6y5pw3j4z627hj7r7qks85st Micah Lee Today #[0] interviewed Matt Taibbi and it's glorious to watch him crumble when confronted with the slew of nonsense he included in his #[1] reporting.
