I get that the static pages can be linked to Nostr posts. To make that work, I'd have to create a Nostr post of some kind outlining, for example, my About page.
My random post on Nostr would be an article titled "About" and then the content is below. Then you take that link and place it not the spot you want it in npub.pro.
No problem so far.
I'm just thinking of future revisions. If I updated my "Services" page 5x, that means I have 5 different "Services" articles floating around on Nostr. A user can come find one (an old one), point to it and say, "No. In this post, which is in writing -- says your prices are such and such," when in reality, the *latest* "Services" page has the updated information, right?
There'd have to be some sort of disclaimer somewhere on your profile bio or the website itself stating what is "latest" to reduce the chances of disagreements in the future.
Also, do our followers want to see 16 different published drafts or updated pages of the same page in their feed just because we needed to make an update to a static page?
That's what I can't figure out in my workflow so far. I'm not quite sure what to do with it.
That's where I got stuck in the "building" part. On my regular website (not Nostr), I've updated the web pages a lot. Here on Nostr, had I done that, it would have created the (as an example) 16 different posts each containing a different version of the page.
I'm not sure if what I'm describing is making sense.

"That, Maverick, is what's a called a 'bird of prey'."
It flew down behind the dumpsters onto the fence less than 10 feet from us and watched something we couldn't see. I'd never been that up close unless I was in an aviary or a zoo. When I turned to look at Maverick, it flew up into the tree, and then it flew to the top of a telephone pole.
I blocked Maverick from its path while we were there -- just in case.
Google says that this could be a falcon, kind of a rare one here in Texas that's been reintroduced the last 10 years. It has a distinct face, a distinct red body, and a striped tail. It was almost 2 feet tall. The other picture is what it most closely looked like as it was sitting on the fence, except it was much larger. At first I thought it was a red-tailed hawk.
I went to grab the footage off the body cam, but there was no video, only a crappy photo I snapped as it took off. I didn't have my cell phone with me. I usually take the phone with me.
One article I read said, basically, it's a pet. From other falconry articles I've read, some falcons are released into the wild after a certain age so they can learn to live on their own and survive.
This one was hungry and curious.

There was a fictional book about 10 years ago (don't quote me on the year) called "Agenda 2030." It was co-authored or ghostwritten for Alex Jones.
In that book, in the future, this is how all the city power was generated. Everyone was forced to walk on treadmills installed in the living spaces. Every morning and every night, someone came around with their allotted block of calories for the day. Walking on the treadmills was mandatory. Not doing your daily share on the treadmill meant jail or being "disappeared." They all walked for hours each day to fulfill the energy quota.
Walking plates like this in busy areas would be great to help with energy generation (as long as walking across them are voluntary).

Broths: beef, bone, or chicken
I make a homemade chicken soup that’s super yummy. It takes all day to cook on the stove.
Whatever soups you end up having, toss some fresh rosemary and thyme into and let it cook a good long while to get some of that flavor into it. It makes even a bland soup more enticing when you’re not feeling well.
If you have a super sore throat, I always enjoyed drinking hot orange Tang (the nasty orange powered stuff that super unhealthy for you) with some honey and cinnamon.
If you drink sugar-filled electrolytes, try diluting it half and half with water. Had someone to tell me to do that with the kids when they were little. It actually helps better than drinking it straight. I dilute them to this day. Try it and see if you feel a little better faster vs. than drinking them full strength.

Reading more about #Zettlekasten, I can see why my Obsidian vault isn't a true Zettekasten system.
Neurons wire differently using #handwriting. Part of the system is in purposely slowing down to review current notes when choosing the best place for a new card.
I don't have to redo my Obsidian vault.
I can start new with 3x5 cards, empty ammo cans (because that's what I have on hand), and a pen. Easy.

Yes. Most people do. It's crazy how many people do. They don't realize it's a predictable cycle.
The summer before a presidential election, the "main" issues or problems for the last few years fades quietly out of sight (out of the news, etc.), prices start lowering on gas around September, and right before or after the election, something else "surprising" or "unexpected" happens, throwing in a new hook and plot twist.

Being able to delete a note within #Nostr is a good thing. From what I've read, once you "delete" the note or "submit for deletion", depending on the client, it may or may not be done.
This particular one showed up in my notifications, but when I clicked on it, I got this message.
Even with the best of intentions, sometimes we say things in the wrong tone or it comes across negatively or we figured out whatever we said isn't what we were trying to say exactly.
You should be able to delete your messages if you want. I'm grateful that some clients honor the deletion requests.

I stayed up late back then. The house phone rang early in the morning -- too early.
The person on the other end could barely get the words out, "We're under attack. Turn on the news right now!"
In a sleep-deprived blur, I clicked the remote to the TV and found the news.
Numb, too much to process. Shock. I remember not breathing when the first tower fell. I remember my hot tears, the screams I heard, not just from my apartment, but from those in the complex around me.
We watched the live coverage for hours, made calls to our families.
I still had to go to work?
I was a telemarketer then.
It was all so absurd. People at work acting like we just have to keep on because that's what we're being paid to do. I had to pick up the phone, call people, and pretend like they'd inquired about getting new windows for their home.
All their reactions were justified.
"Why do we have to pretend nothing is wrong?"
Of course, I couldn't.
I still feel the knots in my stomach, remember the blurred traffic as I drove home, not really remembering when I'd last eaten.
I was 25, and I new nothing would ever again be the same.
I was terrified.

Growing up, our generation didn't have the internet and we were required to read books, talk to a librarian, and work with a group of people (sometimes multiple times) to gain knowledge faster.
To learn something hands-on, we had to speak to someone directly and interact with a person physically to learn something. Think hunting, fishing, welding, fixing a vehicle, sewing, cooking, dancing, etc. We didn't have YouTube.
Because we were forced to interact with others regularly, we were required to learn how to communicate professionally to prepare us for the workplace, to have conversation, manners, etc.
Today's younger generations do not have the same skillsets by the time they are young adults.
It was a different time.

Premeditated harm is never the answer.
If someone is actively causing harm to you or someone who cannot defend themselves in your physical presence, you have the right to immediate self-defense or defense of others.
If someone hurt you or someone else, and it appears they got away with it, you do not have the right to go back months or years later and intentionally premeditate their harm for a future date.
I believe that justice comes in many forms.
I do not trust in karma. I trust in Allah and the Day of Judgement. I trusted Him long before I knew how to say
"God" in Arabic.
If you live long enough, you may see others who caused you or loved ones harm suffer due to "circumstance" or other issues. It was never a coincidence.
God Almighty is the best planner, guardian, trustee over all things, and disposer of affairs.
The Quran clarifies that even those who "appear" to get away with things do not. You'll see as you read through it for yourself (the whole way through, front to back).
It's scary to know what will happen to unrepentant people who appear to get away with the harm they purposely inflicted on others.
It is not wise to add to your own guilt by engaging in premeditated harm to individuals because you don't see the plans Allah has for them.

Interesting X Algorithm Results
I extended the muted words list to include anything rage-baity, political, put-downs, derogatory terms, plus any other trigger words or phrases I've seen content in this category use often.
Then I took it another step further, clicking the little dots next to a post and choosing "Not interested in this post," "This post isn't relative," or "See less posts from ....."
I expected my time to clear out.
It did.
I expected X to serve me a variety of new content from at least a handful of its enormous daily active user base because I'd shut down most of what it was serving me.
It did not.
As it sits, the X algorithm did not repopulate my timeline with new and exciting content.
Instead, it shows me a handful of posts from people who have posted in the last 24 hours that were already previously sent my way.
Guess what? Only a few people in the remaining display accounts post regularly.
I can now scroll for about 10 minutes and see "everything."
I'm both disappointed and puzzled.
1. Does this mean that the X algorithm only serves content you think you want or deserve without suggesting new things at all?
2. If most of the posts are now gone, and I'm not seeing the rest of the worldwide X content, does this mean that 90% of the X content is toxic, rage-bait, manipulative, or low-IQ?
3. If you can't truly break out of the algorithm (see my past X posts for failed experiments on this) or most of the content is negative, should I stay?
If I want to push this further, I can unfollow the rest of the Tate/TRW/Professor accounts. The best place to reach them is inside The Real World.
I muted Alex Jones. It's not that I don't appreciate what he does, but my blood pressure can't handle seeing the latest theories every day. I can always hop on over to Infowars and check out the latest when I'm curious.

Instead of mindlessly scrolling last night, I took surveys for a few cents' worth of sats.
I don't remember which survey, but at the end, it asked me a series of questions about statements that I thought were true or false (or somewhere in between) regarding Muslims, violence, and danger.
I couldn't tell if the statements were things most Americans were already saying or believing or if the people who put out the survey were testing narratives to see which ones the mainstream media should push next.
Of course, all the statements were "Mostly false," which was the only answer closest to "Completely false" shown.
It wasn't comforting.
I won't bother telling you about the new Kamala Harris campaign ads I had to watch. Horrifying.

There seems to be some sentiment that amongst some that if you're online for business or if you're selling something via social media that you're selling your soul.

Oh -- so Sparrow is basically acting like a UI for the Coldcard at that point, right? Because the Coldcard is obviously not a web browser.
If my understanding is correct then Sparrow, in that respect, is DISPLAYING the same information from the Coldcard as if the information from the Coldcard was a mobile or laptop with a UI enabling it to interact with the outside world via the internet.
I thought the steps with Sparrow included the requirement to send all the bitcoin to a NEW & DIFFERENT address within Sparrow first before you sent it Coldcard, making two transactions rather than the one.
The information displaying from Sparrow, in what you described, is all the same stuff on the Coldcard making it one transaction, it just isn't exposing the key to Sparrow and thus not to the outside world.
Do I have that right?

I don't think the prices was the issue. The price of the Bitkey was the same. I think it's more about the steps involved. As another user pointed out, I may need to force myself to learn with small amounts and count it as the cost of learning now for greater piece of mind later.

No, getting the address to send it to is easy. You just need one.
What is intimidating and what I'm scared of messing up is first buying it somewhere, then sending it to Sparrow. To do that, I have to makes sure I first configured that the correct way. Once the bitcoin is in that wallet, then I now have to do bunch of steps to send it to a cold storage which (in coldcard's case) equals exporting the wallet to a file, popping out a microSD card, plugging it in to the computer, getting Sparrow to recognize it properly, doing a bunch of stuff, copy something, copy something else(?) and then pop the SD card out again and then plug it back into coldcard and do something else and something else. If all of that went OK, then I have to deal with something called uxtos.
Compare that to with what I saw with Bitkey:

I'm back to square one on my bitcoin self-custody solution search.
I watched Coldcard "how to" videos, but I'm still scared I'm going to screw that up somewhere. Like, really scared.
I promise, I can follow directions (I write them for a living), but often the directions I'm looking at do not match the current workflow exactly and my intuitive choices in those moments can mess up a process.
This is not something I want to chance.
I opted for a Bitkey because I could buy it and have it transferred there in one step, *not two*. When it arrived today, I couldn't set up the app. Turns out my up-to-date phone does not support NFC. 😔 (It's less than a year old, I never use the NFC function on the phone, and I thought it just came "standard" like an option in a car, so I didn't think about it.)
How do you buy bitcoin and have it go directly into a cold-storage wallet in one transaction?
Ideally, that's the setup I'm looking for.

The last company I helped build documentation for had you update things in the homegrown content management system and then manually update the json files to have the pages render in the right places.

X is currently full of rage bait in all flavors, plus pieces passing as "informative" that lack critical information, mostly on purpose.
I started building on X in the first year to establish a base. This second year, I was meant to attract subscribers or find clients.
I know I can control how much content I put out and how many replies I make.
The challenge I've consistently had is that many times, it is not worth my time to reply to many of these things.
- people don't want correction
- trolls are only interested in being trolls
- reading comprehension is very, very low
- you have to explain, declare, or disclose every little thing so someone might believe you
- someone else already replied with what I was going to say, so why duplicate it?
- Is what I'm about to add adding value?
Before I get that far, my most significant energy drain is sorting through all the posts in the feed.
I have multiple lists that screen out things, but even then, there's little I can add to the situation, or I cannot comment or interact with it because my followers may start seeing content I know they don't want to see.
I have the mute list, but I need to make it longer.
The whole point of the X account was to build a business. To do that, you have to play by the algorithm's whims.
All I want to do is publish my stories, columns, and thought pieces regularly and get paid for it.
You know, like a syndicated columnist used to.
Enter Nostr.
Now, we have a new dynamic, one returning to its original intent and roots.
- Nostr = people following you is basically a person specifically flipping to the opt-ed section of the paper to find your column
- Nostr = people gifting you sats is their way of appreciating your content without having to also pay for the sports, news, or business sections
- Relays = the old-style distribution methods of the newspapers (concentrated regions with specific requests)
It's nerve-tingling and exciting.
But is it enough?
I can always go back and get a regular job if I want. I didn't want to spend my life doing that, though. Of course, I will if I have to, but there has to be some redemption for the lost years.
- Is publishing solely to Nostr that redemption?
- Can I improve people's lives by sharing what I know, sharing my stories, teaching my skills, offering my services, or sharing random journal entries?
- Can I get back to extra-long walks, writing everything down for the pure joy of it, and sharing my letters with people who are trapped to keep their hope alive?
These are all excellent questions.

My understanding is that the more relays I publish to:

Parents have to make choices the kids don't like or agree with. If you're a good #parent, you cannot avoid this. Parents must choose which main things they want to model for their kids long-term. Sometimes, different lessons to model are chosen for us, and the parent has to navigate that to the best of their ability. Kids will only sometimes understand, like, or accept it once they're older adults and can look back with perspective and see.

The money has to be in a bank to pay certain bills. Without access to that cash, how does a person pay those bills?
They could essentially be evicted, get fired (because they can't get to work), have judgements placed against them (for getting behind on child support), and more.
How does someone still pay their normal day-to-day bills when their money is locked up?

If someone has time to be a #bully or harass you online, one or more of these things are happening:
* They don't fill their time conducting fulfilling activities
* They may experience mental illness
* They like staying in dysfunction or ignorance
* They don't experience respect because of their current lifestyle choices
* They obsess over a false sense of superiority
* They possibly thrive off misery
It has nothing to do with you. The bully might need a job, a doctor, or a hug, but not necessarily in that order.
If you're the bully, remember you can seek help for your behavior.

I wonder how much the US government is gonna be reimbursing these companies facing lost revenue due to the requirement of ending some of their overseas contracts. The clauses in the "emergency powers" rulings probably means these businesses receive nothing. I wouldn't know.

The no-fuss headscarves made of jersey fabrics are fabulous unless you move around.
They're great for conference calls and videos, but when I was out walking, moving my head from left to right, and stooping down, wouldn't you know — it came undone.
Over the last year of fiddling with scarves, veils, the under cap, pins, no pins, and magnets, I've concluded there's one way a headscarf works for me: tied in the back at the base of my neck, thrown around my neck and pinned over the back of my head on the opposite ear.
I spent a good 10 minutes fighting with the pins this morning, too. Those straight pins? They fall right out! Every time. I do not know what you guys are doing differently in the videos than I am.
I've spent a year, on and off, trying to get used to it, figuring it out, and watching tutorials. I figured it out real quick when I went outside.
Then again, I'm not coordinated enough to French braid my hair either. I never have been. Since I could not learn how to do that no matter how often I've tried over the years, I'm betting there's a high chance I won't be able to style my headscarf like others.
I can't have things squeezed tightly around my skull, like an under cap, the no-fuss jersey rectangle scarf that must sit that way to be flush on the face, or fabric wrapped tightly around my neck.
It doesn't work for me. It triggers a low-level heightened awareness, my flight-or-fight response. In that state, I cannot concentrate on the professional tasks in front of me.
There is no "getting used to it." I don't have to "get used to it." I'm not 11 and trying to adjust to a training bra.
I'm allowed to be comfortable, feel safe, and not hate how I look all at once.
Yesterday, I tripped over my pant leg again when speeding up the pace (another big pit bull on a tiny rope) but didn't fall.
These long, baggy pants do not work in #tactical situations. I am not trained to maneuver in them like some do in martial arts.
I have yet to tell you about all the times I've tripped over the bottom edges. They're so big that I have to hike up the waistband to sit at the base of my ribs to avoid tripping over them, which is uncomfortable.
Don't get me wrong.
I often enjoy them in the house, when walking outside, or running errands. They can be quite elegant, but the difficulty arises when I have to make fast work on my feet.
It's often unexpected.
In those moments, I trip. I've gotten good at not falling, but those few seconds of recovery can cost me several feet of distance, depending on the situation.
Throughout my life, I've often found I have more peace when prioritizing functionality for the scenarios I can find myself in.
I'm not 100 percent sure what this means for my wardrobe in the future, but there's a high chance it will not please Muslim X.
I dragged out some pants from 2 to 3 years ago. I had a different body then. I still fit into some pants and immediately started feeling calmer with the snug denim where it belonged. I felt more like myself, which was telling.
This means outside of the occasional comfort of lounging in these giant pants or feeling #elegant, I am not myself in them.
My #functionality is hampered. I'm not spending any more money experimenting with different styles or things that don't fit or work right.

In my traveling, I kept things very simple:
- Jetboil
- Coffee thermos
- Instant coffee
- Spoon
Taking forever to pack things up and reloading it all into the rig kind of took some of the joy out of the experience.
In mosquito-prone areas, I would back up to a place similar to this, open the back doors, and sit just behind my bug net to enjoy it all.
Book.
Coffee.
Bliss.

I accepted Islam almost two years ago. Things have been a process.
Not every woman in Islam wears a headscarf. It is an obligation to cover our hair, from the studies I've done, but we are not forced to.
It's an individual thing for a woman. Some women do it right away, immediately. Others, it takes time. It's taken me some time. I started changing how I dress and carry myself. Then I began wearing a headscarf in my online profile pics and for videos. Now, I'm wearing it when I go outside.
As an American, I've been afraid of this for some time.
When I was investigating #Islam, I was surprised to learn that "hijab" is not just a headscarf. Hijab is a concept and principle applying to both men and women.
Hijab includes:
- Men and women are instructed to lower their gaze
- Men and women are instructed to dress modestly (for women, this includes covering their hair, and depending on the school of law a person follows, may also believe it includes covering her face)
- Men and women are instructed to speak well, use manners, and avoid foulness of all kinds

I'm very glad Alby subaccount options exist. It will make it easier :
* to save sats for loved ones
* distribute things like, say, part of an inheritance
* avoid probate in some cases
* pay allowances
* send emergency funds
I'll have to spend more time working towards understanding all the working components. What works. What doesn't work. What's allowed. Keeping them all synced up. Nostr integrations for people who don't have keys vs. those that already do.

I was able to read a 1/2 page of Quran on my own this morning in Arabic. Not perfectly. A couple of places I got tripped up, and it was still choppy, but it went much faster than last week when I was struggling with one line at a time.

Back in the '80s, when Gorbachev was in power, I had pen pals in Russia. It was called USSR then.
It took six months to get letters there and back. And all the mail was read. All of it.
We were teenagers then and had to be careful of what we said. I wasn't allowed to send anything that remotely resembled wealth because my pen pal wouldn't get it. The screeners would take it.
Communism eventually fell.
#Letter writing is only free when the contents are not read and inspected.
Letter writing is one of my most favorite things in the world to do.
I remember all their names, their pictures, the "How to teach yourself Russian" book I bought to help me learn, the airmail envelopes, and the ruble with Stalin's face on it.
Letter writing is beautiful.
I'm so grateful I got to have that experience with people on the other side of the world. It was before the internet.

After my long walk this morning, I decided to go to the #cafe I used to sit and work from. Seeing the staff again was great. They gave me the back booth by the kitchen.
I brought my English-interpreted Quran and my transcripts. Had #coffee. No ice cream. It was good to get out of the house.
When I got back, I got to help track down information for another group project I get to contribute to.
Got everything sorted between Beehiiv and Stripe. Learned more about Bitcoin. Did more proofreading.
Soon there will be another walk. Then maybe I can catch up on social media stuff.
I will not attempt to fix the plumbing on my own.

The harsher the government laws, the quieter the voices become, but they're still there whispering to trusted friends and family.

Humans have always found ways around their government's speech laws and those who swallow and regurgitate government propaganda.
People will continue to do so because of our modern-day technology and, more importantly, #decentralized and cryptographically signed messages over peer-to-peer protocols.
You can squelch a platform's reach and place legal gag orders over a person's freedom of speech, but you cannot stop decentralized platforms.

I like the 2nd one, the top-right corner. It looks like a legacy brand a family might pass down. The first one feels disconnected. The third one adds an element of mysticism, but since you have no idea what that's about or which way that leans, as a potential buyer, I wouldn't want to spend the money to realize it wasn't for me.
Judging by a cover only, I would be more likely to pick up the 2nd one, read the dust jacket, part of the first chapter, etc.
