While privacy coins are important I have a hard time believing they will ever be more popular than say VPNs are in China - used by a small minority. Governments will make them illegal so only hard core will use them. Therefore privacy coins need to be secure without large scale adoption. #xmr #zcash

Without police powers you will have a lot of people evading / not paying the taxes. Is your idea that the government set the taxes to a level where it can get by from those that pay? If it’s voluntary why not just have a system where the government has to convince people to donate what it says it needs and set aside the complexity and economic distortions and likely corruption of all the various taxes on different things?

The cost of living “crisis” is real. This is driven by the US trying to maintain hegemony and deglobalizing - in part out of fear of China. Why don’t we (the US) instead try to de-escalate by asking to make reciprocal concessions with China on our military competition and begin re-allowing China to be our workshop. Good jobs for US workers should come from innovation and tackling monopoly power - more businesses competing means both lower prices but also more jobs. A multipolar world is inevitable. Bankrupting ourselves, impoverishing our people, or getting into WW3 is not worth a few more years of hegemony. #economy #peace #inflation #china

You’re not paranoid. Only reason they would allow the ETFs and Blackrock would be pushing it is if they are confident it’s in their control and it benefits them. While it may serve as an alternative to gold, they are confident BTC will never be a medium exchange that is private and uncensorable except maybe for a tiny fringe.

I get the feeling people like him and Soros saw China’s mix of authoritarianism and capitalism and want to see more of it in the West. Money people get rich while State and corporations control via social credit score and state money what the peons can do.
