Eurovision is a singing competition whose title that doesn't refer to singing or music - but to a show to view (« vision »).
It doesn’t have a theme but a vague slogan « United by music ».
The 2024 (European?) edition was sponsored by a US company with an Arabic-sounding name (Moroccanoil).
You can vote before hearing a single song, for a country not necessarily in Europe, by choosing the song of a singer or group who doesn’t necessarily have the nationality of the country.
The goal is to choose one winner among more than 20 candidates who sometimes sing in English, sometimes in their native language – but it’s never translated, subtitled or explained.
The results are presented live and with great pomp from the four corners of the globe by a "pro" jury that voted… the day before.
What is the purpose / real objective of this event?
To create an international live variety show? To launch singles internationally? To launch artists internationally?
Who pays?
Indirectly the taxpayers since it’s organized by the association of national public broadcasters...
But primarily the local and national authorities of the host country.
The resources allocated for the show are considerable.

Scaring people during Covid worked well. With EU elections approaching they want to inflate a similar worry about war, for people to vote for the same bunch, hoping for « a reassuring stability ». Plus, this is just an additional way to grow the debt as they’re broke, and continue enforcing EU-level governance. Macron doesn’t see the value of a (French) state, so influenced he is by US who tells him & EU what to do, in economics, war and energy.

Thanks for the insight @npub1422…yxtr Not an expert in this field, but I went through their website and white paper. I find the idea very interesting, but am really struggling to find an estimate on the amount of energy to be generated… Never mentioned anywhere (except in the 3rd-party video you shared); not even addressed in the white paper… But the team knows they are only « in the mid of a 10-15 years journey » as they phrase it on their website. Wishing them all the best on their path to success !
