Got it, you are not wrong for a business, but for most people, a decent small server with Star9 OS does the job quite well and it is very convenient.
I can tell you my experience, which it surprised me to the point that now is my default to go, quite reliable and easy is an understatement.
My setup is similar to the product Star9 sells with their SERVER PURE for $1.15K, an i7 64GB RAM Crucial SSD 4TB, little to no maintenance, quite reliable, running for years NextCloud, CryptPad, SimpleX server, Star9 pages (love that one), File Browser, Nostrudel, Nostr RS Relay, Bitcoin Core and thanks to the users Market Place, now as well Monero full Node, uptime Kuma, Dojo, WebTop (surprised how well it works) and IPFS, weekly full backups with successful tested restore from scratch, IMO, a well setup server Star9 is no toy.
Now, if you were talking about Umbrel, agree 100%, tested for a day as a fun project, fun but a no-no for anything serious, I don't get why people host their data or risk their money on an unreliable OS and weak hardware.

Take control of your relays with a curated smart short list and specially your own one, I suggest "Nostr RS Relay" I assume you are using or Umbrel or Star9 OS already, if not, consider the own build of Star9 way more robust OS than Umbrel

People ask me often if Cake Wallet is good,
My answer: it is!, but, as a privacy middleware wallet, specially if you are transacting with Bitcoin.
Cake Wallet @nprofile…j73l now supporting coin join and silent payments for Bitcoin has done a lot more than most Bitcoin wallets, only Samurai Wallet used to be that privacy oriented while it could.
Why?
No decent seed signer (HW) support. To the best of my knowledge as I write this post, it only supports Ledger, which is, probably the worst Seed Signer considering the scandals of that company.
Some think this is not a big deal, IMO, it is, hence only for pocket cash and as a middle ware while transacting, same used to be with Sanourai Wallet.
Now, while I have not seen plans to support Trezor or Cypherock or Tangem (all HW supporting XMR), there is a work in progress to support a very good one: Keystone. That would be a game changer, if that hapoens soon... EXCELLENT!

That is an insightful post, the smart money will look for the most profit and the minimum friction.
Sanctioning a super power like Russia, which is industrialized and the 4th largest economy by PPS seems moronic indeed.
Their top companies and the 1% will indeed end up investing in-house, thus, the economy will do nothing but keep growing more over with a war economy activated in parallel, won't surprise me it becomes number 3 by PPS by the end of the decade.
There are 3 indisputable super powers at the moment in this planet, USA, China and Russia, each one with their strengths, interests and sphere of influence, the faster those three nations learn to leave in peace with each other and accept their reality the better for the planet as a whole. They need to agree and stop fucking with each others back yards, that goes mainly for USA although China seems to be trying to do the same using money as the weapon and not military muscle.
Those that don't bend the knee and play decent diplomacy to their neighboring super power will suffer, many examples at hand like Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela which USA has sanctioned and harm into poverty for decades... And those that cross the line like Panama in the past gets boots in the ground and the president of that nation in prison with some "charges".
We have now Taiwan crossing the line and other countries in Asia allying with the wrong super power, one that will not be able to protect them no matter how hard the USA barks and promises it can, the reality, it can not.
Same in Europe, shooting themselves in the foot aligning with the wrong super power and biting the hand of the one that was providing them financial security by means of competitive energy, now they are buying the energy at least 3 times expensier and most of the industry in Europe is in trouble, the countries in recession and their leaders barking loud as if they had any military power whatsoever, sad to watch, more over to realize how many hidden Nazis are still in Europe, it is a virus that keeps resisting and needs more attention.

### Explaining Monero to Grandpa ###

grandpa, Have you heard about Monero?
you know how we always talk about cash disapearing, CBDCs and how bad is that for our privacy, right? Well, Monero is digital money that works like cash. So, in a way, it solves that problem.
you know you have a bank account and an application in your mobile to access it, right?
The bank gives you an user name and a password. You enter and you have acesss to your account, you can send money, check your balance, etc.
well, with Monero, since it is anonymous digital cash, you need an app as well to access your money, and as with the bank, you have an account number which is called an address and a password, which is called a private key, but in essence is the same, but since geeks are developing the tech and they are not street smart they complicate the terminology doing the best they can. Yes Grandpa, I know is stupid but is not much to learn. Bank Account = Monero Address and Password = Private Key.
That was easy right?
So, you install a Monero App, I like "Cake Wallet", you do so from the Android App store or iOS store and in under a minute you have an account and you are ready to rock-n-roll.

Next you want to buy some Monero to send digital cash to your grandkids and you want to do so easily with your bank fiat dollars, and inside of the Cake Wallet app you can do so with your credit card or debit card or a bank transfer, easy as pie. You want to send $50 bucks, just buy $50 bucks worth of Monero.
Now, Monero as any other global currency has an exchange rate with the US dollar, today is around $200 for 1 Monero, the ticker symbol for Monero is
XMR as with the dollar is USD. So at that exchange rate you do the math (actually the application does it for you but I know you would like to check it by yourself), 50 USD divided by 200 XMR/USD = 0.25 XMR
Now this app Cake Wallet is really cool, you can access your contacts from it. You add your grandkids Monero addresses as contacts and every time you want to send them anonymous digital cash it is three clicks and you are done, click on send, select contact, add amount in dollars or Monero and click send.
Your grandkids will get the notification right away and the cash will be a available for then within 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes is the time it takes a bunch of computers around the world to validate the transaction. No worries there are more chances your bank screw up a transfer than a transaction does not work in Monero.
now you may ask how my grandkids convert it to dollars or any other fiat currency they may need to pay for good and services. Very easy, Cake Wallet allows you to sell as well, the cash is transfer to your bank account or debit card, my preference is to buy gift cards with Monero, easily and quick and them, pay for goods in stores that do not accept directly Monero, but there are online and physical stores that accept it already,
Isn't that cool?

Grandpa: Hey kid, did you get the Monero I sent you?
Me: Yes! You are the best!!!
Grandpa: I have a question for you. Your cousing John asked me to send him USDT instead, he says is a stable currency like the dollar and he can use it right away.
Me: That idiot. Grandpa, the problem with USDT is that is not anonymous nor private at all, if you had an USDT account and you send him USDT from your account, John and anyone that sees that transaction will know exactly how much you have in that account and will know every transaction you had ever done, only Monero is private anonymous digital cash, as I explained you, like hard cash, no different. The rest is like the CBDCs we so much talk about, traceable, non private and pseudo anonymous but not for the receiver. USDT is a centralized company as well and can block or seize your money at any time if they wish to do so.
Grandpa: I knew it, that dumb dumb, I asked him if it was private and John told me that it was 100% private and secure. I will let him know Monero or no instant cash gift from now on.

Grandpa: Hey, What do you know about #Bitcoin, is it safe?
Me: Yes, but you need to know what you are doing, you woul need to run your own software on dedicated hardware and learn about different technical concepts like Layer 1 or base layer and Layer 2 networks like the Lighting Network and the concept of channels and the balance of them, there is a slow learning curve if you want to use it in the right way. The creator was not thinking about privacy when it wrote the code therefore is not ideal to transact. Little by little is improving and is a good store of value. Hey you should buy the ETF on your portfolio or perhaps best to buy stocks of MicroStrategy, that company is already a hedge fund of Bitcoin, check their chart and next time we meet, we can tall about it over a cold beer.

✔️ no need of mixers
✔️ easy to use
✔️ vibrant community
✔️ delisted by most CEXs (governments are afraid of it, this is actually positive, less degenerates trading it less speculation)
✔️ the only decebtralized real p2p cash
✔️ friendly wallets ( cake wallet and stack wallet for mobile, cake wallet for desktop
✔️ true decentralized mining (anti ASIC, only CPU allowed)
#Bitcoin is a good store of value, good for buying and holding as you would do with gold, but it has been institutionalized and the OGs and large corps like Blackrock have a monopoly on it in a way or the other, even on the mining of it.
#Monero is what we all dream a p2p cash should be, study it before you shut it down, learn about it.
