I see part of the problem is they put whatever their priority is first. Then their posterity.
Example: my dad will put my grandmother's far work, fixing things, before work that pays. My jobs so he can get paid, he helps me still.
My wife's mom has put moving to Florida and the beach ahead of everything else.
They seem to always see it though the lense of them first, everyone else second. To a fault.
