I've read some information about the projector. The frame rate is 24 fps, like all cinema projectors. The bigger size and number of perforations on the film already contribute to a more stable image. But the real change is there's a pressurized air system that secures the film to a plate and simultaneously blows away any dust that might be stuck to the film. That's why every frames looks clean & stable.

I don’t know if they use some kind of film stabilizer or a filter on these projectors, but I was really impressed by the image quality of the film, with almost no flickering.

In reality, it’s numbers hidden behind the words of a seed phrase.
To understand more easily it's like a normal wallet makes a combination of 24 numbers between 1 and 99, and Coldcard only selects 24 numbers from among the digits 1 to 9.

I’ve always split my funds across multiple wallets, controlled by different seeds, generated by different hardware wallet brands.
This helps you avoid losing your lifelong savings in a single transaction, like you can see with the Coldcard exploit. Extremely frustrating, considering that most hardware wallet can generate/restore an unlimited number of seeds + passphrases.
It’s a good idea to add a strong passphrase to your seeds, at least 20 characters, including lowercase, uppercase, and special characters.
A lot of people use an easy-to-remember word or a sequence of words, maybe they are confused because seeds are words so they believe it's ok to use words for the passphrase.
DON'T DO THAT !
For your passphrase, you should use a random string of characters, exactly like a strong password generator. I recommend creating your passphrase with a password manager/generator and writing it down offline, separately from your seed backup!
Now, regarding which hardware wallets to use:
Blockstream Jade is a good place to start.
The Seedsigner is inexpensive but requires a bit more technical knowledge.
Ledger, Trezor, Bitbox, are among the oldest wallet brands on the market, and they have never had a seed hack or a serious firmware exploit like what we’ve been seeing over the past few days with coldcard.
( That said, Ledger had a data leak involving customer information, such as names, email addresses. From people who ordered on their official website. To avoid that, you can buy the device from an authorized retailer near you and pay in cash. )
Bitkey is newer, and I’ve seen some people recommend it here on Nostr, personally, I don’t know much about it.

I did some research, and these types of cards have a lifespan of 10 to 30 years, you absolutely must avoid storing them in humid places or areas with significant temperature fluctuations.
Because there is a flat NFC antenna running around the inside of the card.
if it rusts or deteriorates, especially due to moisture, it can cut the NFC signal, and in that case, the funds are lost.
In addition to that, you also need to scan the card every couple of years with any NFC enabled device to send an electrical signal to the chip, otherwise, after several years without any electrical signal, the chip might stop working.

It’s an NFC card with a secure chip inside that generates a private key at the time it’s created.
On the back there’s a QR code with the deposit address. To withdraw the funds, you just need to follow the instructions in the Nunchuk app. Essentially, you enter the spending code on the back and also physically scan the NFC to authorize a transaction.
There’s no possible remote attack, but anyone who has access to the card could move the funds. So you need to keep it hidden somewhat, like a seed.

I’ve noticed (and I’m guilty too) that people get confused and use simple, easy to remember words as a passphrase and that’s a mistake.
Unlike the seed, a passphrase doesn’t have to be words, it’s actually better to use a random mix of special characters, numbers, and letters to increase entropy. Just like a password generator.
Take this with a grain of salt, I did a quick research today, but you’d want 20 characters or more for ~128 bits of entropy for a strong passphrase.

I checked quickly, most wallets accept passphrases up to 100 characters, to reach 128 bits of entropy you need at least 20 characters, boot Linux from a USB, don't connect the internet or Bluetooth, start KeePass and let it auto-generate.

By regularly making inbound transactions and occasionally moving all the funds out for a few days, you could build your historic of transactions to prompt the attacker to move the funds quickly seeing that the wallet is active.
Plus when you do the transaction is a good test to see if your alert notification is working.

2026-08-02 10:17:54 GMT

What do you think about creating a seed with a strong passphrase
You could keep a small amount of sats on the seed without a passphrase, while holding the bulk of your funds in the wallet secured by the passphrase.
By monitoring the address linked to the seed alone via notifications, you would know if your seed has been compromised and could move the funds using the passphrase. #asknostr #ask

The Seedsigner doesn't need to store your seed because it is simply a tool for signing transactions and moving your bitcoin.
The main advantage of not keeping the seed on the device is if someone gains physical access to your Seedsigner, they can't do anything, as it is always empty upon startup.
You can do that too with a Jade from blockstream or a ColdCard 😅 it's called a temporary signer.

2026-08-01 16:11:32 GMT

I think Seedsigner is good for a long term account, where you hold, just deposit bitcoin, and do 1 transaction with it every 6 months or more..
It also push you to physically verify for yourself ( and don't trust the hardware ) that your seed is still there, in good condition, and legible. That’s what many bitcoiners do, once a year, or even more often.
The most critical part is where and how you keep your seed in the physical world, that's true for any devices or hardware wallet.

This calls into question everything that has been built around Bitcoin: the brands, the hardware wallets.
"Don't trust, verify" has never been more relevant than it is today.

Coldcard and NVK right now:

It was worse than I thought..
I'm okay, but this whole fiasco made me question things. It hits even harder than an exchange hack.
The saddest part is that most people won't really understand, will lose faith in Coldcard and Bitcoin in the process, plus the open-source community is also affected.
It's a hard day, good luck Coldcard.
Bitcoin, however, continues as always.
