you ask a fair question. #Medium was not the focus of my 2014 post and I congratulate you and your platform on surviving to date (though you've had to pivot mightily to do so).
The core point of my post was that creators who can should self-host their content:
• maintaining their rights;
• controlling content presentation and brand; and
• ensuring access by not using a private third-party platform that can disappear.
Respectfully, I think the post still holds up.
