The heatwave has arrived here, too. Here, in Amman, it is bearable - 40°C with low humidity and often some air is manageable, in the Jordan Valley it is much worse (dead sea!) and I think of the people in #Gaza who have hardly a roof over the head, the tents heating up and no electricity for fans or AC - and not enough clean water to drink or shower. It is brutal.

tried to pinn it on one of them or suspected them to be involved in crime - no one bothered to compare the CCTV pictures with the list of wanted Nazis. Seven years later one of them confessed (long story, short version).
For years the victims were under suspicion.
I walked home later that evening, glas shards cracking under my feet.
Twenty years. I see the pictures of the street party they have today, and the lying faces of the politicians.
Oh, and: the party is late. There might be a bomb.

Then I heared his voice. He had been downstairs, looking in the street. As he usually took a small back lane to go home he had arrived just after the bomb went off, before the police closed all entrances to the street. If he had not been later than usual because he had gone to bring something for me, he might have walked right in.
Thank God no one was killed that day - a miracle, the bomb was filled with long, thick nails.

9th June 2004. Twenty years ago. On my way home from work I was stopped by a group of people standing in front of barrier band - no one was allowed to enter the street where I lived. I asked some neighbours, why. "A bomb exploded in there, maybe one hour ago, they made us all leave." I felt sick. I tried to call my husband who should have come home about one hour ago, no answer. Again and again. No answer. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes - one of the longest quarter of an hour of my life.

I agree. I think the published numbers are way too low and still some blame the Gaza health ministry for "exaggerating".

Actually, even AJ does not show the worst pictures. What I saw through other channels I will never be able to unsee, nor, I think, will anyone else.
I am an old lady. I sit here grinding my teeth and wondering what I would do if twenty or thirty years younger and knowing how to shoot.

they are, but more the Arabic channel. Try to find it, a lot of material shown there does not appear on the English channel. No matter the language, the pictures and films speak for themselves. #AJ #aljazeera
