Start installing apps from zap.store or obtanium rather than Google store. Much more convenient than downloading APK from somewhere.
Use Amber to generate/store your secret key on your mobile device.
Login to Amethyst with Amber. Or use Primal, but only if it allows login with Amber (did not since a while ago.
Amber, Amethyst and Primal are available form zap.store.
Amber is also on F-Droid, not sure about the other apps.
Also not sure what's a nice and easy Nostr Relay to install on a computer or a Raspberry as I've not explored the options yet.

Loading a page or file on Github, from click to rendered, takes a very long time. Like a few seconds.
It is basically instant in Gitlab.
I have all my projets on Github but I really do not use it for more than just git and being MS now, Github got more and more bloated.

I think the hardest thing to solve is put a Signer app (authenticator? identity? ) in the end of all users. Like Amber or similar.
Without that, user will struggle to understand - or just be able to - use the same account everywhere if not by some dumb and dangerous copy-paste of nsec here and there.
It should be a collective effort from devs to do more than just provide the alternative to the user, rather to educate new ones and encouraging such an approach.
Users are familiar with third-party authentication having used "social" logins for long over a decade and people normally love it.
This is an area where the industry should cooperate strongly. Maybe we should even setup a small online meetup on the topic, or a "signer apps day" of some sort.

Organic is great indeed.
But is missing the user content. Locations are all there but with no reviews one need to go somewhere else to evaluate them. And the reliability of Google maps reviews is probably the best out there.
Very hard to replicate or import. Huge problem.

YouTube and Maps are the two most problematic platforms to get away from.
Because of the content, not the tech, obviously.
Still we gonna start somewhere.
For the maps there's OpenStreetMaps and the Organic Maps app.
For YouTube I would start with something like NewPipe to stream from multiple sources, one being something like nostr / blossom / podcast3. 0 with video.
Then offering creators a simple migration from YouTube to a new open storage / video distribution channel where they can be zapped.

I'll start from the end.
1) Cryptocurrency or "crypto" has just become a word to describe alternative versions of Bitcoin - which are all failed experiments or - mostly - scams.
Bitcoin is a peer to peer electronic cash system and the word cryptocurrency is not used in the white paper at all. Also blockchain is not used, still people used that word for everything.
It might be ok to use it in casual conversations? Yes. But Bitcoin is NOT a cryptocurrency because there is no such thing as a crptocurrrency.
2) I see your general point about software stay agnostic from value transfer of any kind, including Bitcoin in any form. My post - which was not a scientific paper rather just a "thought of the moment" - is about "hey, maybe it should". And even if I see your points and mostly agree, at the same time I think it might be better the other way around. Bitcoin can be transformative in the way humans interact, and zaps here are a first example. I totally see that happening for books, articles, chats, videos, songs and, yes, software packages and software apps and so on...
Why embedded? Because if that means more money flow and flow from consumers / users to producers / makers... that's a good thing as the outcome is important.
There are downside? Probably. Again, it was just a shout, open for discussion. Glad to have this one.

Building a Swift alternative is incredibly complicated as a task per se. It becomes impossible when the countries that want to build it are marketing friends but actual enemies.
This makes no sense obviously and it would make so much more sense to just use Bitcoin as international monetary backbone... But they won't.
Americans will come first. Bitcoin is more suited to americans as they are still to this day the most individualistic and messianic civilization. BRICS (LOL) is mostly collectivist countries.
This is why America will get there first.
It is becoming more and more evident these days with many politicians endorsing Bitcoin, even a few years before I did "predict".

The West has become US + western european countries in 1945 because US invaded and conquered Italy and Germany and took over the UK empire and what was left of France and the rest of european nations. All of them, in one form or the other. The eastern countries for obvious reasons just after 1990.
Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and so on are sovereign countries. Italy, Germany are not, or not completely at least. As is not Japan - which despite a very different history and ethnicity is sometimes considered part of the "collective west".
The West is really the "cultural" or "soft power" name for American Empire. As Nato is the military name. European Union is the legislative / economic facade of basically the same thing, plus the convenient "one phone number to call them all".
Nothing is indeed determined by race - or let alone religion. Both are just a tool used if and when needed, to project power.
Is not a cultural thing, but a "power" thing. US conquered most of europe in the past 80 years, because Europe for many reason was and still is the most important geographical area on the planet. The same thing cannot be said for south america which is why the current status quo in terms of US influence (or cultural assimilation) did not change and is not going to be in the coming decades. It's more than enough to keep the area in chaos enough so no regional power can emerge. This is one of the very few permanent US geo-strategic objectives, everywhere since almost forever. That's the reason why US did fought 2 WWs and one cold war to keep Europe from another power to take over (Germany, USSR or god-forbid a combination of the two) and is why is still fighting the proxy war in Ukraine today.

Nobody that can actually think, knows history (the one that did not start with the last current thing... actual History), can see behind the curtains of obvious rhetorical talks...
Which technically is basically nobody. Most of the rest do not have the interest, the tools, access to information or, well, the will and reasoning capabilities.
So in a sense the "spreading democracy" narration / mission is a tool. In a sense it actually is what moves the US. It's made up? Yes. It's the deep real reason? No. Still it has impact or US would have not become what it is. No Empire can without an actual universal mission.

It's the US Empire universal mission. All empires must have one. The US go around to overthrow bad dictators that are forcing their good people to behave bad or dumb, if not killing them. Donation is already part of open-source culture, as is sponsorship, as you say. Some is also already built-in, as in Github added it a few years ago already.
Open Source does not exists in vacuum, and money is not going to be abandoned by civilizations any time soon.
Zapping people here - whether they publish a nice NIP or a new release of a software - is by far the smoothest form of distributed support I've ever experienced and it make me wish I could do the same every time I use a nice library and want to buy a drink to the maintainer.
I do not believe everything will just work out of free contributions, as it never really did. All open source ecosystem are "polluted" by sponsorships by some corporations, are they not?
Real distributed support might make everything more resilient and prosperous.
It might not going to be part of the packaging tool per se, or maybe only in a few ones. It might also enable a new economy where license, usage and some sort of subscription is connected.
I will certainly prefer seeing millions of developers and even users zapping to Linux maintainers than seeing Linus Torvalds exiled for a few weeks from his position due to a "recommendation" from a board that suffer pressure from some ignorant mobs.
PS: you seem to be confusing "cryptocurrencies" as something that's real and is even in the same "space" as Bitcoin. Not sure why, but it is not. I say Bitcoin, I mean Bitcoin, not "crypto" or "cryptocurrencies" or any other made up concept.

Not sure about that but I did implement it in my website and here are the screenshot of how they work on the same Firefox Android browser.
On FrankieGPT I request an event signature, user is presented and "ACCEPT" button and after that my webapp will receive the signed event, including the public key and there's no need for further interaction or special permissions that I know (or remember) about.

amber sign in kind of doesn't work. Redirects to Albert, asks to grant permission, goes back to the browser and then nothing happens. An overlay appears to with the text "signature copied to the clipboard", from amber itself.

Classic social issue 😕
I am going so far to basically ignore people who write me to whatsapp, and answer promptly just on telegram or signal or anything else.
But this kind of "wars" are not going anywhere and are kind of pointless in the end.
The only way probably is a standard like email and then everyone keep using the app they prefer, provided the ability to filter out whoever do not use e2e encryption or whatever feature you want to enforce on your peers.
Maybe nostr is that thing.

One small annoying UX "issue" is that to close images I have to climb my phone up to the top.
Commands should always be ob the bottom. According to my own rules :)
In fact default ux on my android is to press the "back arrow" on bottom left to perform this sort of action.

Working with `web-ext` and the @mozilla AddOn website and docs has been refreshing.

It depends on your perspective I guess.
For me 1000 sats is (and will be) 1000 sats.
1$ is now 1400 sats, It was over 2000 a short while ago.

Wrapping up February 2024 for FrankieGPT (yes, I was meant to send this 2 weeks ago...)
Finally we get remote Sign-in with Amber, lots of UI improvements in all screens and obviously the latest OpenAI GPT4 and 3.5 models.
Plus, 1$ recharge is less than 1500 sats now. Generative AI has never been so cheap 😉
