Glitchy Bitchin' about muh Anti-Social Media choices:
I've long-since stopped going on Twitter ... such a real dumpster fire over there since X. Everything is just scary MSM negative contentious bullshit with a dash of newsiness.
I'm also in a bunch of Telegram and Discord groups wading thru endless potentially important but indecipherable convos, unanswered questions from newbs, and more than a few scammers.
So yeah, and don't even get me started on ScrewTube and all such videocities channels.
So I spend quite a lot of time trying to read Nostr on 4 or 5 different clients, but they are nearly all still kinda glitchy and inconsistent for me. And I must wonder if anybody else is ever frustrated with the over-abundance of pablumatic single-word posts simply repeating GM, PV, Sunshine, Hearts, Hugs and Shaka-laka-ding-dong emojis. Nostr often feels like Mary Poppins High School by contrast to Twitter.
It seems difficult to find worthwhile content and when I do it's often cryptic as hell and hard to understand. Meanwhile, my countless well-thought out carefully constructed notes, and hilariously humorous quips sink un-noticed into the immutable archives of darkness without comment, no matter how many inflooencers I follow.

I'm a Twitter veteran from 2008 and was a pretty prolific poster there with a modest following for many years... but I haven't tweeted since months before X.
I was an early nostr adopter also and zapped encouragement to many, especially devs for awhile. All in on #grownostr, stay humble, stack sats, zappity zap. But I took a long break from nostr too after Nostrgram stalled out back in April something, because it was just getting kinda discouraging. No depth, no real content, no engagement.
So yesterday I scanned all the current web clients on Nostr again, and honestly it's still a dumpster fire here for me:
Scrolling a feed is still often an exercise in frenetic lurching from page to page b4 I can read a post, mingled with "page unresponsive" msgs and stalled image renders. But most importantly, the content is... still mostly unintelligible and largely ignored/abandoned notes with very few coherent threads or real conversations. Despite my best effort to construct meaningful posts, I get almost no engagement, and the high percentage of notes without a single reply is telling. I find practically no news or enlightenment on current events in the world, and tons of faux profundity (silly memes). As social media goes, nostr is still just not worth a zap.

The heavens are filled with billions of stars of various compositions and sizes, each an enormous distance from the next and all spread out across a vastly empty multi-dimensional expanse. And they're moving. Now, chart the stars you can see from earth as accurately as you can onto a flat planar projection of the visible sky. Then draw straight lines from one to the next as if they actually were in that plane, to form crude shapes of constellations named after randomly selected gods and beasts.
IMO this brings an understanding roughly comparable to that derived from TA market analysis. It's not astrophysics it's astrology, it's not method it's mumbojumbology. Still, many otherwise sane investors depend on it to make their decisions. So who knows?
Wen moon is surely still far up and away from here, but I still like to watch these charts. 😎

Technically so. If you convert/sell/gift BTC worth more than you paid for it, there is a capital gain which is taxable in the US. The tax laws are a bit fuzzy on small amounts though... talk to your accountant.

Appreciating Precious Coins
In January 2017 I bought 1 gold Maple Leaf coin, and 20 Silver Eagle coins from a leading dealer at a total purchase price of $1,603.89. Today with gold celebrating a new ATH, I priced these same coins again same dealer, at $3012.29. I still have the coins, and although I couldn't sell them for quite as much as today's quoted price, this represents an approximate gain of 88% (nearly twice what I paid for them). Not bad (if you ignore inflation).
I also bought my 1st Bitcoin on that same day in 2017, for $792.87. I still have that coin also but I won't sell it today either, even though I easily could, at a gain of approximately 3632% (36 times what I paid for it).

Recently I sent a Bitcoin transaction from my new hardware wallet (using coin control and custom fees) to an older hardware wallet, and then sent it directly back to the new hardware wallet. Confirmed both transactions on chain in <2 hrs for 6 cents in network fees, but the BTC was worth about 10 dollars more by the time it made the round trip. 😎

The heavens are filled with billions of stars of various compositions and sizes, each an enormous distance from the next and all spread out across a vastly empty multi-dimensional expanse. And they're moving.
Now, chart the stars you can see from earth as accurately as you can onto a flat planar projection of the visible sky. Then draw straight lines from one to the next as if they actually were in that plane, to form crude shapes of constellations named after randomly selected gods and beasts.
This brings an understanding roughly comparable to that derived from TA market analysis. It's not astrophysics it's astrology, it's not method it's mumbojumbology.
Still, many otherwise sane investors depend on it to make their decisions.

Apparently, the literal meaning of many common social media terms and abbreviations may vary depending on the context in which they are used.
eg; Following and Followers can be confusing for some users. What The Fuck is this actually about anyway, and Why The Fuck should anyone care? IKR? I mean WTAF is this followers thing all about really?!
Here are a few more examples:

I've been running a full Bitcoin node on a raspi for almost 3 years now. I keep it up to date and sync'd, and use it mainly for my own education and to monitor my utxos as I hodl. I suppose it adds in some small way to the robustness of the network, but it has no commercial raison d'etre really.
Just recently I opened my first lightning channels, connected a self-custody BlueWallet backend and ran a bunch of test transactions with Strike, Alby, and Nostr. I haven't deposited much Bitcoin into it yet but in the course of moving a few million sats back and forth I've managed to establish a little bit of inbound liquidity...
And now I realize, I have nothing to sell and very little prospect for earning significant Bitcoin in network routing fees. So I'm just wondering to myself... why am I doing this? Can anybody offer this Odler Hodler some insight or incentive to continue down the Lightning node rabbit hole?
