Love this…soon to be the the website formerly known as…

I think I may be faced with a naming conundrum. I need to think some deep thoughts. There's gotta be a way through this. Ideas welcomed.

Nah, but the left one fits ok in my right ear. So I get double the battery life.

I know it's not the same, but I have tinnitus in my left ear as a result of losing all the hearing in that ear. Most days, I can completely ignore it, but if I give it any attention, it feels like I’m going crazy. The upside is that I only need one AirPod.

Thinking of submitting a conference talk proposal about finding my web dev tribe in retirement. Is this a good idea?

That's a stunning piece. Way to go!

I am eternally grateful that I have never actually “React”-ed. And I don't want to know what I've missed.

Problem solved with a single line of CSS:
word-break: break-all;
When a line contains a long url and you think its width should be contained by its parent container's width…and you're wrong…adding this line allows it to be broken and retain said parent container's width constraint. Whew!

TFW you discover that it's not the code, but the data...but then you realize that the code has to accommodate the data you're given, particularly when it comes from a remote place. Currently confounded…

2025-10-31 16:06:10 GMT

TFW you start commenting out large amounts of code to reveal the offending bits.

Yesterday, I was 69 years old. Today, I am not. And I am grateful to be here.

I just made a request on the CF Discord to see if CF has plans for guides for migrating #11ty sites or if anyone has done this and can provide guidance. I made a feeble attempt to use the Astro guidelines, but failed and bailed.

Ouch! I did rather poorly...as expected.

In the interest of getting unstuck on things I've wanted to do, I've created a "Books Pages" category for the #11ty Bundle. Only took 15 minutes…now back to being stuck. https://11tybundle.dev/categories/books-pages/

Thanks. Conundrum: in the case of my personal site, if I scroll to main-content (where my skip-to goes), nav is above the viewport. But if I scroll to tippy-top with an id there, then screen readers would have to tab through the nav all over again, which could be the right thing. Tough call.

I’m so looking forward to getting home after 6 weeks away, filled with rehab treatments for me and radiation treatments for my wife. Got to see family and friends in So Cal and that took the edge off a bit…but still, it gets pretty tiring.

Here's a look at how I made this work:

2025-04-25 22:22:31 GMT

New feature on the https://11tybundle.dev You can now just type ‘/‘ to place focus in the search box, ala GitHub. This has been bugging me for a while. No more mousing around to get into that lovely search box.

Congressman Jim McGovern (and others are starting to talk) suggested a "general strike” at a recent town hall. And May 1st is getting discussed. https://youtube.com/shorts/tFvdfwp8Oj0?si=oEV9w4-6Uwiw6aVF

I’m curious about why you think #11ty doesn't do much. It's been an excellent successor to Jekyll, in my opinion. It's fast, supports many templating languages, and gets out of your way.
