Example: members of Congress do have election matters within the scope of their responsibilities while presidents do not. This may have discouraged Smith from charging members of Congress who aided Trump with the election conspiracy. One could argue they have a plausible defense to why they made calls to state election figures. That could make a prosecution messy. A prosecutor will want the cleanest case possible. That's my take on it. 2/2

Now that I've read the article I can say the Arena Stage Theater in DC just completed a run of a play that was about Cooper's ousting from the M Street School. The play was very well acted and I learned that there was some tension between Cooper and Mary Church Terrell, apparently over class and Cooper's support for DuBois over Booker T. Washington. A complex story for its time that as the writer suggests is still playing out today.

People are probably too young to remember this but when certain priests in Central and South America supported the regular people against fascist regimes upheld by the US - the church initially wanted to expel them. The priests were protesting torture and human rights abuses. Protestants stay silent in the face of abuse of women. Its consistent.

Liberals should already know who to vote for. Repubs will follow their leader Jim Jones aka Trump. The campaign to get other votes must be locally based on local issues, going after one voter or small groups of voters at a time. The 2016 election showed debates and speeches won't get it.

I do think her writing in the book appeals to Black elites who buy into the notion that they are exceptional and don't do analysis that includes more vulnerable Black folks and others of color. That is certainly the case in my circle where I am no longer able to talk about the book without backlash for not worshiping her.
