I have a bag of them in my cupboard now. They are still available in stores (at least in the US). Nom nom nom... ::grin:: npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub1g2u…pmk3 Wait what? We've got binary everywhere, and base 12 still shows up in our time computations. I guess it depends on what you mean by "we". 😉 (Haven't watched Foundation, but how does that come up?) npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub1g2u…pmk3 The army to police pipeline is definitely a problem. The number of people I know who joined the military, got out and joined the police--well, that would explain a lot of the problems. It's completely the wrong mindset and skills. npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub13yf…znpe Montana has beautiful lighting and vast landscapes, in spades! npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub16gp…qsw5 I can't see all the comments here but it sounds like you want the old ntalk or otalk programs, where you just type at each other synchronously...? npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub16gp…qsw5 Welcome to IKEA... 🤣 npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm What I wouldn't give for electronic devices that *don't* sing a little song when they turn on, when they are starting to work, when they finish, when they think they've been ignored... I want to take a blunt axe to our brand new frigidaire because it whistles its "the door's been open too long!" sound about half the time we open it to get something out. I don't need the dishwasher or washing machine tootling at me--just do your damn job and get on with it! It was cute for a while, but now EVERYTHING does it and it's unnecessary and annoying. Harumf. I need a pot of tea. Luckily that's the one thing we have that doesn't whistle--I don't use a teakettle, we turned off all beeps and boops on the microwaves, and the stovetop doesn't warble either. The oven chirps when it reaches its desired temperature, and that I will admit is functional. 😉 npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub16gp…qsw5 Wow. I'm sorry for the women in your life. There are a lot of women innovators and inventors out there, and some of them even have children. Why do you think you can speak so authoritatively and generically about half the world's population when you've only met a few of them? npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub16gp…qsw5 Hey Google, dial 911 should work.. npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub16gp…qsw5 Find my phone. Dial 911. Get clothes on, and feel my way downstairs on while waiting for ambulance to arrive. npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm @npub17qd…m9vr Huh. I thought questions like "what time is it on the sun" is what makes philosophy playful, while introducing people to the idea that concepts like "what time is it" are not as clear cut as they think they are. Delving into what it means to ask what time it is in another framework leads to understanding different perspectives and how to disentangle these ideas. Why tradition has value or evaluating the cost of tolerance is a much more threatening application of the same approach. (But I'm not a philosopher.) npub139k3u6hnyhzhyrprhdhpp7qqgdv5w9wa6fvhgqkel32tr0n38dfqsu5d9t Chiasm #[0] Then it follows that Christie is so ignorant that he should not be in politics either. Everyone else in the world knew exactly what kind of president he'd be.
