God, this all sounds eerily like a December #MiamiDolphins game. Perhaps that’s why it’s all so clear to me.

I’m going to put yesterday’s tarmac silliness into football terms:
It is the fourth quarter, the game is tied, and one team clearly has the momentum and the ball.
The team without the momentum (who are also poorly coached) starts to do dumb things, in an effort to trip up the momentum team and steal it back.
The fans of non-momentum team, which accomplished nothing with this move, shriek with delight while momentum team keeps moving down the field toward a score.
