thinking deeply about air conditioners in our 50+°C "new normal", as one does.
the outdoor unit being in the shade rather than in direct sunlight probably matters the most
the uninsulated nature of most indian rooms (leaky, almost universally crooked doors, leaky sliding doors/windows, insufficient curtain opacity, the move away from pelmets, no double/triple glaze on glass, etc) ensures that the AC never reaches the set temp inside the room so it keeps running on full capacity
