SHE HAS HAD TO PRESIDE OVER BASICALLY AN EVENLY DIVIDED SENATE.
This has curtailed her ability to travel somewhat. She broke John C. Calhoun's record for most tie-breaking votes.

Look, folks. #historian here. The Founders (ugh, I hate that term but that's not the issue here) were Whigs.
They came out of a seventeenth-century commonwealth tradition that emphasized Parliamentary supremacy.
Because they were very sensitive to corruption and the possibility of tyranny, they would have watched the development of the postwar presidency with trepidation.
Worth remembering that seventeenth-century Englishmen killed a king they found too tyrannical.

The NYPD riot police cleared NYU's encampment early this morning, while the small number of students still in it were still sleeping.
I am utterly disgusted, and while I am relieved that no one appears to have been hurt, the cowardice of this move is blindingly obvious and quite shameful. I am, once again, ashamed of NYU.

Happening now at NYU: I am not sure how many students have been arrested; they sent in the NYPD in full riot gear.
At least two of my close colleagues, both in the history department, have been arrested.
NYU President Linda Mills should resign before we vote no confidence.

@npub189n…satx my sister-in-law uses parts of it in her fifth grade classroom and really speaks highly of how well-developed and well-supported it is. (But of course, likely illegal in fucking Florida...)
