That has nothing to do with shareholder voting.
The people who manage other people’s money should not be able to control corporate boards the way they do. AUM should not equal votes under management the way they currently do.
All these fund managers should be treated like a broker at a minimum and the beneficial owners should either retain their votes, or be disenfranchised entirely due to their lack of commitment. I’d prefer the people who don’t care enough to manage their own investments be disenfranchised, because fuck them. But at a minimum, fund managers should be forced to act as proxies the way brokerages are.

I’m GenX and my generation didn’t have enough kids and 90% of us our losers like every other generation. But GenX is tiny compared to the Boomers and Millennials.
Personally, I’d love to see GenX’s relative lack of political power, based on our small size, be used to end the entire communist entitlement system.

The number of people that women kill every year is mind boggling when you understand that abortion is murder. ≈1M people per year for 50 years in the US.

Women have been aborting babies for all of human history too. The scale might be a modern phenomenon, but the act itself is nothing new. Abandoning babies in the wilderness was also a common approach women used before abortion was so clinical and easily available.
I know women who became completely distraught when a pet dog or cat brought a dead mouse to the door. They spent years berating these pets for that one time they killed the defenseless cute little mouse. People constantly talk about how much easier the Boomers had it and in the many threads on Twitter last night where these videos were shared there were many such comments. Obviously that context was lost with my post here, so that’s on me, but that’s the sentiment I was mostly commenting on here.
When you control for age, every cohort has had similar wealth and income distributions at the same points in their lives. There are some marginal differences, but it is definitely not the case that everyone was buying cheap real estate in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Especially given the double digit interest rates.
But things will get worse at an accelerating rate if the climate hysterics get their way. The loudest voices complaining about how capitalism has stolen their futures are also the same people cheering on the green agenda to reduce the standard of living for the developed world. And none of the commentary on these videos over the last couple days, and the subject in general, have dealt with that reality.
So what they should do is quit supporting the people who have been promising them they were going to dramatically reduce their standard of living for 3 decades. And that’s the point I was trying to make, poorly.

Just working hard was never enough. Digging a hole every morning and filling it every afternoon is hard as fuck, but it isn’t productive. You have to work hard on the right things. Things that society needs and therefore values.
My Boomer parents had it much harder, as adults, than my Silent grandparents. But my grandparents lived through the depression as kids and started their adult lives in the middle of WWII so I can’t really hate them for that either.
Canadians, on average, have been one of the most compliant populations on the planet over the last few years. They are getting what they begged for - climate controls and carbon pricing. They just didn’t realize what that would mean for them. 🤷‍♂️
Their communist healthcare system is more likely to recommend they kill themselves than treat them but they keep on virtue signaling and voting for their slave masters. They cheered when their government seized the savings of people who tried to stand up for them because they disagreed with their programming. And they would cheer on the confiscation of every sat in their godforsaken country if given the chance. On average, they can go fuck themselves.
I feel for the minority who opposes their insanity, but the majority are a bunch of brainwashed psychopathic idiots and the minority allowed themselves to be disarmed.

I had it much harder than this woman has it but she would tell you I had it easy just because the year I was born, the color of my skin, and my Y chromosome. No, I avoid their betas like the plague. Ever since Ventura shipped, macOS has gotten progressively worse. And I’m running it on a fairly high end Mac Studio. I have to reboot the damn thing every couple days just to get it to behave at all now. I used to only reboot after system updates before Ventura.
iOS has started to become almost as unstable. Not quite as bad, but I have to reboot it to get it to behave much more frequently too. And I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

I use Linux every day too but I use it via iTerm consoles and ssh from my Macs so I don’t have to deal with desktop Linux for all things graphical. I live in tmux+Neovim on Linux.
But I can definitely see a day coming where I have to switch back to desktop Linux. I’m not looking forward to that either, tbh.
