Cheers, it’s tongue in check but some serious points buried in it….
I could conform and make Bitcoin memes, songs about Bitcoin and dedicate my morning stream to Satoshi but it would ring pretty hollow .
Good points though, you might have seen me say before this is part of a wider process for me, I need to learn new skills. Spent the day in the studio and despite working on some great projects, it’s hard to see how anything will cut through the noise.
I’m actually happy how it’s building, there’s a small community forming and they keep coming back, I always take that as a positive. There’s been so many technical challenges, I want really aware of the compute and skills needed when I started.

It's official! #Liotia will no longer be on Spotify, Tidal or other mainstream streaming services. We've been considering this for a while and decided that if Spotify can't support independent musicians then why on earth should we be paying to advertise their services? Telling people to 'check us on Spotify' is frankly embarrassing.
It's much more viable to check us on radio or check us on Bandcamp/Faircamp/Mirlo/Wavlake etc.
In all this time we've only earned a few scraps from the streaming platforms, meanwhile PRS, Bandcamp, Mirlo and Wavlake have paid us considerably more, like in excess of 100x more. So in short... Fuck Spotify. Fuck them up the fucking fuck.
We'll be releasing some new music in the coming months and it will be fabulous! There's some genuinely exciting news on that front but all in good time...
We support independent music and an independent internet. :Nuclear:
Our whole back catalogue will be on offer the next Faircamp Friday and I'll finish getting the catalogue on Wavlake ASAP.

Pretty much what you say. Just basic use and a decent amount of data. I was with o2 for years then mistakenly switched to Vodafone, thinking it would make life easier combining phone and broadband, turned into a nightmare!

That last point is worth exploring. Perhaps that’s how many other people feel and they’re all creating their own German culture? It’s certainly not as simple as phones, there’s trade, supermarkets, online shopping etc.
I’m with you about the music. Most english folk music that gets played at festivals is awful but their is also some amazing traditional songs that when approached well are brilliant.

I lived in Santorini back in 94 and the opinions about America back then were pretty low. That was pre the second Iraq war. I’ve Turkish friends and American friends. I don’t agree with the actions here. The only basis for questioning of it is the glitchiness and there’s something a little weird about the guy’s face but it’s just a guess. I’m not an expert in assessing video.

Does anyone you’re aware of use PeerTube? They’ve added V4V and I can host from my own server, something I don’t think is possible with say Zap Stream, where I’m paying for uptime.
I’d love to stream on my own platform but with Sats but coding is beyond my talents!

I hope so. Looking to build more income through V4V. There’s a lot a need to work out. The music industry is in a very weird place right now.
The differences in the industry no compared to say the 1990s are huge. The cost of producing music has come down massively but the ability to cut through to an audience has completely changed.
Most young musicians are looking more toward producing a tight 2 min video than writing an album (or at least the more successful ones are).
Music sales and streams account for so little. Big artists bring in more from brands etc. they’re essentially sales reps for all kinds of other products.
Anyway, I’m here for the V4V. Let’s do it.

The banning of X is an issue in one sense, sure speech has been censored but on the flip side, the business model still incentivises bullshit, hate and misinformation. It’s not a town square, it’s a wealthy consortium’s societal plaything.
The banning of X is a good thing in my mind. Tools exist and people have options now.
The way certain messages propagate through the platform has always been sus. The government’s don’t like Musk but Musk wants to be like government, he clearly gets a kick from the platform’s ability to create political instability.
Nostr is a super important tool and more broadly an independent internet is the way forward. Removing the incentives to lie for engagement reduce and the lack of a centrally controlled black box algorithm takes away the ability to manipulate the masses.

I’ve done a little VJing but it was controlling artwork made for the show. I’m cool with the tech end of it or at least I have the software.
I quite like the lofi vibe as it’s literally just me playing records but then if you take ‘Tiny Desk’ it’s a massive production.
I might scrap the cam on me altogether and decorate the turntable loads. Lean into it.
I do want to incorporate some sound effects and I do have a bunch of MIDI controllers… definitely food for thought.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback! I know it’s not the most visually engaging, I stopped putting me in, then a couple of people said they liked it so I put it back, yeah the chat might be a good idea, I’ll try some things out. I might switch over to PeerTube soon too…
The biggest thing at the moment is the exercise of learning how streaming works. If I can get the production good I can start talking to my boss’s management, then get some really cool shit going on but I want to know I can pull it off first.

Smaller online communities are much better at policing themselves.
Thinking back to forum days, some of the conversations were wild, sometimes pretty bad taste but communities set their own boundaries and people who didn’t adhere to that eventually got booted.
What Facebacon and Twitter did was create a free for all where everyone could interact with everyone else. But trying to get consensus on a global platform, without some common interest is pretty impossible. I’m sure Jack would have a thought or two on that…
I don’t think people’s sense of free speech being threatened would’ve been a problem without these big online mega-corps.
If you were a dick in a forum, you’d get booted but what might be appropriate in one forum could totally be the vibe elsewhere.
I don’t have any grand ideas about how to fix the internet but I do have a strong sense of what I like online.
I’m curious how communities will develop long term. I won’t be posting about Bitcoin or the Fed but appreciate that’s a very big part of peoples’ identities and that’s cool. I like a currency that bypasses the current system. My feelings around banking run very deep but it’s not something I want to discuss in public.
As the great Horace Andy sang, Money, money, money, is the root of all evil.
There’s music, art, science and nature to enjoy too and I’m here for that.

Getting more love via Ko-Fi than Nostr Zaps at this point in time.
I only run on independent internet, I host my own server and don’t fuck with the big tech firms. Streams are only listed on Nostr and The Fediverse.
I like both platforms a lot. At this point there’s a much more developed music community on the Fediverse.
I know you all listen to music at some point! I’m unashamedly a niche within a niche within a niche and that will not change.
These are the facts so far. Still long Nostr. Always short X, Meta and other outdated, legacy web pages. My server still has better uptime than X!
