I watched The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and read the book over 15 years ago. It was incredibly emotional at that time knowing he was going to die. Watching this again after so long - i don't know if you have watched The Last Lecture, but its one of the most amazing piece on self reflection and inspiration.
Some of my favorite quotes by Randy Pausch :
1. Some brick walls are there for a reason, they let us prove how badly we want things.
2. When you are screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they gave up.
3. If you're going to do anything pioneering, you'll get arrows in the back, and you just have to put up with it.
4. When you've had something for 10 years that you hold so precious, it's the toughest thing in the world to hand it over. The only advice I can give is to find somebody better than you to hand it to.
5. The best gift an educator can give is to get somebody to become self-reflective.
6. The best way to teach somebody something is to have them think they're learning something else. I've done it my whole career, and the 'head fake' here is that they're learning to program, but they just think they're making movies and video games.

I get your worries on client dependency to coordinate, and notes not being shared broadly via the outbox model. My suggestion doesn't change the outbox model but rather optimizes it. It would not be able to solve the broadcasting issue, but it can resolve many other concerns.
The idea is more like “Relay-as-a-Service (RaaS)” concept whereby you have a personal relay that is more lightweight as it only stores your notes, messages etc compared to general relays that store all the data. You can have this hosted locally for security purposes or relay devs can expand their service to "cloud" for users who don't want to host locally, just because or for safety reasons.
When you send data, someone else who has some common relays with you will be able to view it.
It can be cross synched to your other devices like will's idea or use IoT concept like LoRa or Zigbee or regular wifi but might need some network protocal synch
To enhance privacy, clients can also enhance UX for users who want to share both privately and globally presuming what they share is limited to selected relays or not visible to the public.
Users can delete their own notes but it might need some protocol to delete notes that are temporarily or permanently stored anywhere else.
Users can also upgrade storage capacity or use external relays for specific functions (images, video stage, streaming etc) to ensure modularity and scalability.
The overall idea is to not only optimize data storage, but also gives users full control of their own data (delete, edit, privacy etc).

i was trying to look up for the conversation we had last on this but might be a long time back - bunking in on this note.
I was just wondering, would there be an easier way where i can have my relay that just stores my data (notes and messages (sent and received)) and all other relays can be used as your transmitter. Some benefits :
- It would lessen the need of my computer - i wouldn't need some massive server capacity to run a relay.
- And if i need to sync up between my phone and computer, we can use Will's idea.
- I don't have to depend on other relays to store/ clear data.
- I can delete whatever I have written.
- I have control over my data.
- If i need more storage for videos etc then either i increase my own capacity or use other relays (free/private)
From a user perspective, it would be easier is users just need to assume it works like installing an app to install the operation to run your own relay.
I haven't fully thought through this yet and I don't know enough - but just a thought

This was a good book and a quick read - The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
1. Be impeccable with your word
Words are powerful tools. Use them to share love, uplift others. Avoid gossip, it is poison. Be impeccable with words to yourself too
2. Do not take anything personally
Taking things personally is a form of selfishness, as it assumes everything is about "me." People's opinions are shaped by their own experiences and perspectives. If someone doesn’t treat you with respect, it’s a gift to part ways. Your heart will heal, and you will find that you don’t need to trust others as much as you need to trust yourself to make the right choices.
3. Do not make assumptions
Assumptions lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary drama. We make assumptions because we don’t have the courage to ask questions. Love is accepting other people the way they are without trying to change them.
4. Always do your best
Under any circumstances, do your best - no more, no less. True fulfillment comes from action, not the expectation of rewards. You can have many great ideas in your head, but what makes the difference is the action.
Mastery comes through repetition, practice makes perfect. If you fall, stand up and keep going and each time it will become easier.

Sometimes I write thoughts down at the end of a long day based on experience or observation. It serves as a self reminder. These are some from the last few months :
You can’t control others, but you can control yourself.
Saying no sets boundaries. Saying yes opens doors. Finding the balance makes all the difference.
Those who do exceedingly well are laser focused on reaching end-goals. Those who don’t, are often focused on everyone else’s problems.
Only help people who are willing to help themselves
Personal attacks happen when one lacks constructive or substantial input in a discussion i.e they don’t know enough
I deeply appreciate people who don’t make every conversation about themselves, especially when they have a lot going on but choose to put others first.
If you are bitching about someone you love, either publicly or to your friends, you take away their dignity, because of your lack of emotional control.
If you need to feel loved by making someone jealous, then you are in a toxic relationship (and you might be the toxic one)
Distancing yourself from environments, people or triggers that fuel insecurity allows for better self-reflection and emotional growth
Knowledge boosts confidence.
Men harass women. Women harass men too. The fault is not men. The fault is harassment
Unsolicited advice often falls on deaf ears, especially if the person is not in a mindset to embrace change. If you are ready for change, you will be after people you look up to for advises, tips and tricks.
Surround yourself with people who find ways to make their lives better - be it health, thoughts, financially, growth and more.
Be with people who bring out the best out of you, not the worst out of you. Likewise, be someone who brings out the best out of someone else.
You are who you chose to engage in conversations with.
Remember to relax the brain.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Never settle for a checklist.
Happiness is the goal.

I like the idea of experimenting with agentic AI on an open network. You do drop thoughts ahead of time and trigger all kinds of reaction which is what we need as a society (re protocol a few yrs back).
With agentic AI, it seems like we can gauge the temperature of uncensored, unmonitored conversations and compare to an algo-ridden world. We become the placebo.
Enabling agency for people to explore their social horizon would also be another interesting opportunity.
On privacy, it is needed for censorship resistant to be optimised, so that users don’t self censor out of fear or we create breeding ground for gov’ts IP geolocation tracking to capture dissent. We don't have any privacy now. Yes gov't cannot block you here but they can capture you and put you in prison and that sucks even more. The privacy options we have here are not much diff from existing centralised system out there right now, except for that one extra step of single point of failure.
If we want to make privacy work and normalise it, I don't think it can be the same thing wrapped in a diff outfit. It has to be diff and simple to encourage adoption. You are right, debates between free speech vs fake speech is a distraction while free will and free thoughts are in jeopardy

Back in the days, when legal system was still "trust me bro", a lot of swearing on God's name was used. And perhaps why its seen as a common mode in OT.
I believe Jew's Torah is from Genesis to Deuteronomy. Islam's Quran is similar to OT (except that it diverges from Abraham's time) - but they still practice claiming God's name to prove innocence through Shari law).
Catholicism, Greek Orthodox and Protestant consume Old and New Testaments (tho Catholicism and Greek Orthodox have an extra chapter in the OT which I have not read yet), But all 3 divergent tend to adopt the New Testaments in superseding the old, based on what Jesus said - and direct Bible translations (based on which version)
I grew up orthodox methodist to pentecostal so it was no using God's name in vain and no swearing too, lol - maybe similar to any orthodox environment.

oh no! 💔💔 I hope she gets better soon. Normally when they can't move and can't pee properly anymore, you'd know.
My boy is 12, and this year has been crazy - he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 2 which has now progressed to stage 3, but still a very slow decline and i am grateful. I take him to the vet every week for his subcut IV, but because he hates dogs and loves cats its always very eventful session. He has never been sick until now - but this year has been kinds of problems from hematoma, mites.
Once a month he has has muscle cramps and I give him hot massage every night. I also give him muscle supplements that comes with pain killers and have been driving him everyday to the park for a week so that he doesn't over use his foreleg.
His food is also home cooked (always have been) and now i add cod liver oil, and 3x a week chia seeds, spirulina, folic acid. Than and his daily kidney supplements.
Its been tiring, very costly, but he is a happy boy. He wakes up happy every morning. He plays with the cats, runs after the birds, assumes all strangers are friends, all dogs are enemies. He is very clingy these days. If I could give him 1-2 years more of just being happy, I'm more than happy.
Have you done any blood works to see what's wrong ?

love this, a good reminder. I have a bible-America related question - not related to your post - but I thought of asking you as it has been bugging me all day.
The Bible says do swear, do not swear an oath and do not use God’s name. So why do the courts in the US say “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”
And you literally have to place your hands on the bible and swear upon it, raise your right hand, and pledge this oath. Wouldn't this contradict the Bible directly ?
In Matthew 5: 34-37, it says “But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”
And in James 5:12 it says “Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No,’ otherwise you will be condemned.”

I think the option of 'curating your own algo on nostr' is a little rogue atm. Here’s a tip tho - head over to nostr.band and key in any word that interest you. A bunch or people and conversations around it will be listed out - add them to your follow list. Rinse and repeat - And your timeline will be more curated by you, for you. advance search like dvms are still wip, but nostr.band is steady.

With 159 countries racing to join BRICS, the possibility of de-dollarisation is becoming more real everyday. Whether we like it or not, this shift can trigger currency war. This is where Bitcoin can and will serve as the mediator, the peacekeeper - but in order for that to happen, it needs to be easy and seamless, in converting from any currency to bitcoin to encourage global trade (real trade - import, export and transactions between customers and local businesses).

Arduino is an open source company that is highly successful esp in the makers and educational communities. And they open source everything - hardware, software. There is a large number of arduino clones globally, much cheaper too and they are just as welcome to the arduino community and considered as part of the ecosystem. But people tend to go back to arduino to get their goods because not only is it at an affordable price, but there is brand loyalty, trust, support - that and it’s the real thing.
Would love to see more open source conversations on business-building and revenue-making in Nostr events.
I think the equation that might work is :
Build something so good + reach out to intended target market = people would love to pay for it.
At the early stages, people may be drawn to a product out of curiosity or because they connect with the founder's vision. Over a period of time, they start to remember the brand, and this familiarity builds trust. This is the same whether you have IP protection, open-source, or keep it as a trade secret.
But everything here is experimentation which is what makes it so special. Some call them developers but their are really open-source scientist testing out which hypothesis works. Nostr is like this big open-source laboratory and we get to watch it real time. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

These are some great tips! I too have become more comfortable using my phone with a headset. I'd dig a geodesic dome that scatters the waves =)
I don’t think resonance will impact heavily tho - it’s attenuating 70dB signals - your harmonics and TOIs are gonna be tiny tiny fellas. Even anechoic chambers are coated with a good conductance (that and it’s absorption foams). I also love the conductance capacity - energy inducing fabrics are game changers.
I am curious on shorter wavelength attenuation results - I’d reckon this materials are solid blockers until 12GHz which is incredibly decent - it may not cover your terahertz and gamma rays but that’s expected as you need concrete and lead for that.
I am still a little paranoid on Bluetooth esp class A hitting 20dBm. Doing a bit of deep dive on that. If I have anything on me that receives signal, I need it to absorb and emit least amount of radiation, one that is safer than taking a walk in the city kind

btw, your friend can sell this to people who wear pacemakers as well - it will be a good protection gear against EMI signals. A statement to correct on the above - the regulatory test is up to 1.5GHz (this is standard practice) and it attenuates 70dB which is really good, keeps your harmonics low. However satellite signals are typically 1GHz - 40GHz. So if you want to make sure you are blocking anyone from detecting you or hearing you, you can just test it on your own. Also really love the conductance testing - so much possibility.

I love this! A good possibility in preventing people from locating your whereabouts 24/7 or listening in. Anechoic chambers were my peace zone - and this is like peace of mind everywhere you go.
There was a time I used to carry copper tape with me all the time to cover my cards and made a pouch out of it. And i used to stick ferrite beads at the edge of all cables . And once I made loop antennas from old RF cables, connected them to a handheld signal analyzer to detect how much signals that's around me, and I found 400 MHz harmonic jamming my car alarm near a transmission plant. I think this could help detect hidden cameras in hotels or Airbnbs as well, as they typically use RF bands to transmit video signals.
Would be cool to get a signal generator, turn on satellite modulation signals and measure reflections and see how many signals it suppresses (or see what signals you can pick up near you) but it needs a satellite dish to detect. Actually if you have a sign gen and an analyser and some loop antenna, check out your radiation from laptop, your phones at higher frequencies. It's one reason why I stopped using my laptop on the lap - because Cispr tests didn't test high freq harmonics.
This innovation is very cool, the paranoid me appreciates it.

Is it addictive now? I visit occasionally for breaks and in support, but haven't found it addictive.
I do think a positive reinforcement approach is better. For example using negative reinforcement, like threatening to delete free relay storage to force payments on private relays, could be risky.
Instead, we can encourage ways for free relays to bring in more users and we can all brainstorm ways to monetize by providing value that people are willing to pay for.
I think being able to switch between private and public (gossip) relays is also valuable. And I think if you can't delete, then being able to move that data to a private relay and try to delete off gossip natured relay could be an option too.
I do think simple and friendly user design is the the bomb and the key to the treasure chest

The irony of google's former motto “don’t be evil” and microsoft even creepier. Steve Job’s early apple days with 1984 ad was wonderful and sad to see what it has become.
As for Elon, I'm not a fan girl, I disagree with his authoritarian approach, concerned about potential privacy breaches and surveillance, and I strongly dislike the idea of having multiple children with different women. But having worked in and managed high-tech manufacturing, I have great respect for his work - He may have acquired the EV and autonomous tech but setting up mass manufacturing car making at rapid speed for a large product which includes various mechatronics, high signal measurements and future tech is complex. Switching between modes of businesses requires strong focus.
I do have a lot of respect for Jack - when he realised the power balance was not directed to the people he backed out and funded protocols and financial systems that would give power back to the people. And he told Congress that no one, not him, not the government, should have that much power - and I think that's brave, principled, and reflects strong grounding.

This documentary is a good one in understanding why you want to be Nostr. It explains how the internet started as something pure and good, free from government and commercial interference — but eventually became regulated by governments, controlled by investors and advertisers, and dominated by algorithms and surveillance.
After watching, I understand better why @npub1sg6…f63m gave > $21 million for open source with no expectations or influence by him — enabling innovations purely driven by the builders' vision — without investor pressure, advertising influence, or government meddling.
It’s a long journey for Nostr, but I hope it remains pure and wonderful. And if you are reading this, know that every moment you are here, is a moment of freedom on Nostr ❤️

adding a note here in case this gets lost in translation. I think that working on open source projects, Bitcoin, and Nostr is admirable and important. I think juggling between the tech aspect + diff ecosystem + user needs + outreach can be difficult.
But one has to figure out what they don’t know before they can identify the help they need - and perhaps that journey is what needs to be expanded on right now. If one believes they are always right, then it becomes challenging. Same goes for everybody, same goes for you, same goes for me. Life is a continuous learning experience.

Over a year ago I removed social media apps and email access from my phone. The phone became a much more peaceful and fun tool used to communicate with friends, reading stuff and just exploring new information when I’m taking a break from work. Turning smartphone to somewhat stupid has been a smarter move. Unfortunately I realise email is a necessity, but I haven’t come to terms with it yet. But that aside, if you are able to self direct own learning, autonomous learning often yields better results than having information pushed at you. I could never go back to the days of social media apps on mobile again. Even if reinstalled, I wouldn't bother with them—those days are long gone.

Dealing with a client who hasn’t paid and has gone MIA - this has taken up so much of my peace the past 2 weeks. I learnt the hard way that there are very little international laws to protect freelance workers. My country can’t do anything to help, other than to lodge a police report for formality purpose but I am fairly amazed that DOJ has been responsive as the client is American - and although it will take a few weeks, at least something I guess. The good thing about US governing bodies and justice systems is that they have always been polite. I don't know if they are polite to americans but they have been polite to me. My benchmark for response is so low that they shock the bejesus out of me with politeness all the time.
Man, bootstrapping is tough - not the kind you get funded and still complain non stop lol, but the kind you work your arse off to self fund and have responsibilities and stress 24/7.
But all throughout, I do have this sweet boy for comfort. Little things I am grateful for.

Reading some poetry from Malawi—many written during a period when the country was suppressed for decades under the dictatorship of Hastings Kamuzu Banda. Many lived in exile expressing what home is to them.
The nature of politics and art can be deeply intertwined. This piece from an essay by Landeg White encapsulate it beautifully :
“ It’s not that these were ‘political poets’ in the sense that they had an agenda. [It was] a situation in which everything was political, except the politics.
Which church you went to, was political. How long your hair was, was political. Which region you came from, was political. How women dressed, was political. Not attending a political rally, when one was in your area, was political. Not getting out of your car to applaud when Dr Banda’s motorcade was passing, was political.
My late brother-in-law Frank was detained for 18 months in 1976. His crime? He lived next door to Kirby Mwambetania, detained for being a northerner. So when Kirby was taken, Frank went to bath and feed his four young children until Kirby’s wife could return from Nairobi where she was on a course. That, too, was political!

Malawi gained independence from the British in 1964 (It was known as Nyasaland before its name changed to Malawi - nyasa is lake in Chichewa ) . Although Malawi gained independence, it was ruled by Banda who established a one-party state and ruled as a president-for-life.
His regime was highly repressive - political persecution, censorship, and suppression of opposition. Anyone who dissent were harshly punished.
In the early 90s, Malawi slowly transitioned to a multiparty democracy thanks to the rising internal and external pressures.
While Malawi has undergone significant political reforms, it continues to face challenges in governance and development. With a population of 20 million, Malawi remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Only 11% of the country currently has access to electricity, and it ranks 171st out of 189 on the Human Development Index.
Malawi is bordered by Zambia, Mozambique, and Tanzania with Lake Malawi as its centerpiece. The country is known for its friendliness, diverse cultures and languages, with Chichewa being the most widely spoken alongside English.

oh wow. the people took to the streets relentlessly to have a government that would remove favourability and corruption. what an incredible victory. I was surprise to hear how Sheikh Hasina described in detail the cruel murder she wanted to impose on Muhammad Yunus - i don't think you even hear that in telenovela.
The microcredit loans that started by him and eventually picked up around the world esp for poorer communities focuses on quick ways they can turn around. I had a technician once who went back to Bangladesh to use these means of funds to open a textile factory. Its these little stepping stones that rebuilds the economy.
I was saddened to read how they invaded his house and office while his wife was terribly ill. I was under the impression that he did not want to be in politics. I've heard an interview where he said he has tried once and was not in favour of it so it is an interesting turn of events. I hope the opportunity for women remains open and impartial without discrimination

$2T wiped out in an hour is wild. Would be kinda scary if Japan stops buying US’s debt (given it owns abt 15% of US treasury securities?) - interest rates will shoot up, borrowing cost increases. financial market suffers. And if countries go to war right now, say Iran attacks Israel. US will struggle to fund the war as it can’t print money. And given China is the second largest debt owners and both China and Russia are pushing for Brics, the risk of demonetisation is high, risk of world war is high.
But likely the above won't happen.
In the short run there will be many stoppages. But in the long run it helps to understand why innovation is crucial for long-term economic productivity and resilience. It is not practical for a country to self sustain through military intervention to extract other country's resources (oil, opium). It backfires quite a bit in terms of debts and elite's control.
Excessive capitalism - i.e decisions of several elites in the 80s - both in the UK and the US led to much innovation and productivity leaving the country. Those that benefited from globalization established expensive cities and capital within the country, whereas the rest of the country suffered - creating inequality and regional disparities.
There has to be some balance of economic policies in the world. And if countries don't innovate, they will suffer and get left behind.

This line reminds me of Steve Job’s ad which was reminiscent of Orwell's 1984 - on breaking away from the conformity and control of the dominant controls.
From a monetary perspective world took on different paths - the US and friends, and Soviet and Islam (of which is combining to BRICS) . The only way countries will be able to breakaway from these controls is through Bitcoin as global currency.
Similarly from a mind control, legacy media then, and centralised social media now have to pander to governments. The political arguments are often used to rile up gender and race related issues to force people to pick sides.
I was reading Sartre's work last weekend and his ideas on existentialism and human freedom reflect how societal divisions like race and gender can contribute to the conflicts of human existence. Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched Earth is good too - on the deep-seated conflicts from effects of colonization and racism arising from these societal divisions.
Venenzuela and Malaysia overcoming dictators Maduro and Mahathir had a lot of influence from the US. On one hand the people wanted to come out of oppression. On the other hand, the US plays the savior role - and even if did good for the people, the people have to figure out that they can save themselves - they have the power.
And here is where decentralised media like Nostr will play a crucial role for people to get the info that they want, instead of being fed it. And will become a true indicator of what the people are leaning towards.
This is such a complex world but the more I understand it, the more I realise we are all on the right path here.

That one time I tried shrooms, I was very disappointed with myself. It was a girls trip to Bali and given I’m the lightest; it hit me the most and the longest. It was a starry night and so I thought alright here goes, I’ll be seeing the stars turning into some cool rock bands - but nope. Everything was like in a fairyland and cupcakes. The coconut tree was layer cake. The water I drank was jello. The stars were fairies. One of the girls was into bohemian vibe at that time so the music was slightly jazzy and we were by the pool across the beach and it was a great night - except that I was incredibly amused by my mystical world. I remember telling my friends I had to be way cooler than this. Needless to say, never did shrooms again. Reality can be horrifying
That aside, Bali is wonderful. I sure miss it.

nostr is the true pH indicator of what the people want.
and this matters in preventing global interventions or gov't manipulation. Bitcoin prevents currency wars. Nostr prevents colonisation of the mind.

There are so many angles to think through on this and having a occam's razor (the simplest answer is the correct one) may not apply here.
On global splits
I think the US and many other US allies have their interest. Similarly BRICS countries have their interest.
On Maduro’s policies
Maduro’s economic policies are bad as it's not been reformed, nor diversified. Not because socialist policies are bad. Some of the richest countries in the world are socialist democrats. The unreformed ones are the poorest. But many are triggered by the word socialist without understanding the broad spectrum of it.
On dictatorship
This can exist on both sides of the spectrum (left and right) and the people have had enough of a 20 year party ruling. If you have benevolent dictator like Lee Kuan Yew, Bukele than that's another story but most dictators are corrupt, oppress the country and destroy it.
US influence on change in regime
Well this is a known case that the US has had its hand in many countries over the last several decades. In fact the US imposed sanction on Venenzuela a few years ago to force a change in regime.
On fraud election
Not surprising - i’m from a country that have witnessed it myself first hand. It happens. Whether its was fraud or not i do not know but it can happen
Regardless, it boils down to 2 things :
1. What do people want ?
If the Venezuelans want a change in regime on a large volume, then that’s by definition democracy. Whether a change in regime will be better for the country idk but it's what the people want. Its easy to say they are influenced. But they live through it day in day out for 20 years
How can we prevent global political splits in the future ?
Bitcoin as global currency - its a long journey but this will slowly prevent currency wars
Another thing to really consider is how to prevent algo influence on the lives of these people ?
And this is where Nostr as social platform becomes incredibly important. The pH of people will more accurate without external influence

Sometimes I hear stories of how people’s fathers were bad to them growing up and I feel really bad, i feel really sorry. My dad gave up so much so that I would have a better life. You know that story in the gospel of Mark where people contributed out of abundance but a poor lady gave everything she got which was barely 2 coins and that carried more value ? That was my dad. He was kind to all and would not ask for himself even when he was in need. He had a great sense of humour and knew how to make light of difficult situation to ease people around him. 1. Zap Payment Service as “other stuff” or lightning payment services
Create a payment service with zap, along with its api/posse (?) to be integrated with global services or a simpler way for nodes to be integrated by businesses and general users
Use cases : gamers using ios and android can use zaps for micropayment instead of faux money alongside nostr community chat options. Primal/Damus has shown how zaps are possible on ios
2. Create a freedom oriented client
specifically for oppressed countries who need easy adoption and private mode conversations. While Nostr is a protocol, this client can have all features dedicated towards people from these countries (requires studying what they need)
3. Explore B2B opportunity with Nostr
There’s YouTube premier, TV, Red, Originals, free with ads etc. Maybe propose one to YT where people pay as they please using zaps, no ads and chat avenues ?
Maybe various businesses like media could be clients of Nostr with similar chat and zap features (B2B) - with private relays if needed.
4. Tidal /Nostr Battle of the Bands
Attendees buy their tickets as usual. And they will be redirected to install wallet where ticket price will be converted to sats.
The goal is to zap sats and the highest zaps win.
In this case this could also be a bitcoin minted token so that token owner can take back (rug pull) the money at the end of the evening (to encourage attendees to zap the winners at the concert).

- Anonymity on Nostr - more clients that can be connected to Tor or other ways to protect user visibility. Oppressive countries can be brutal.
- to split private relays from general relays that uses gossip and provide uses the option for asynchronous / mutually exclusive selections between general and private
I’m sure the feasibility of use cases requires a lot more through through process. But with every problem there is opportunity.

Venezuela holds the largest known oil reserve in the world and has become an international financial chess match.
Chavez, followed by Maduro’s socialist, has been part of the Russian, China block and in pursuit of BRICS ally. Chavez paid off the IMF (he had Mahathir’s vibe of no IMF, no US - but Mahathir went with the Islam ally and Chavez went with the Socialist group) .
However, due to lack of market reforms, Venenzuela remains largely in debts with China, Russia, and private debtors, bonds etc.
The US and 50 other countries were not happy Venenzuela did not pick them, so they did what they always do when things don’t go their way and sanctioned the country.
This is to pressure the regime and support opposition figures (back then) Juan Guaidó and redirect state oil funds to the right wing party.
(Note - Oil revenues generally fall under federal control, even though the resources are extracted from state territories. Federal authorities often withhold these funds esp if the states are governed by opposition parties. Very similar to Mahathir’s time too.)
This sanction impacted the country severely as Maduro and gang did not diversify the economy - no market reforms nor social reforms. They were dependent on oil revenue only - big mistake - huge.
The people are tired of a 20 year regime giving handouts instead of building the country. They want change.
So yea, it has a lot of influence from various factors and everything is helter skelter right now. But Venezuela is ripe for regime change and economic diversification.
Maybe Maria Corina Machado is an ally of the US, I won't be surprised. Like Mahathir vs Anwar, Anwar and many who supported him were funded and trained from various US NGOs for years. And similarly, it was to end a Mahathir's 20 yrs regime that would not support the US - but the people could not tolerate the Mahathir dictatorship anymore and it took many riots and tear gassing. Then again its back to square one as Anwar is curbing freedom of expression dictatorial style and aligning publicly with Brics, so who knows.
And here is where Bitcoin really matters. I know this sounds like such a cliche “Bitcoin fixes this” ending but it is incredibly important to have an impartial global currency.
One that Venezuela can trade with the US and Russia without offending one or the other. Right now, Venezuela is stuck and is forced to pick sides.
But it is also incredible that the people are rising and saying enough is enough. This is when the people lead and hopefully governments follow.
