Why on earth people in Nostr enjoy those bloody hell threads?.
I’m tagged in one of those and every time I open Nostr I have tons of notifications of useless replies that basically make quit the app
I do need to put a filter or something in the app where if I’m tagged in any post where more than x people is tagged then I don’t get any notification in my app

What is the value of a descentralized chain when you use a centralized DeFi protocol?
What is the value of a descentralized.chain and protocol if you are using a centralized token?
What is the value of having all of them descentralized but you used them through an exchange
Descentralization is a spectrum and some times you just value one peace of it as it unlocks certain use cases
The drama in ethereum camp is that they started creating a whole world of scams and centralized protocols where they abused the word descentralization as they realized most of their users only wanted quick money and didn’t care much.. so then it comes Solana which is much more centralized and took advantage of it making the UX cleaner for the user who is not worried with centralization of some aspects
Now the eth camp is worried about figuring out the message because they will never be as solid and sound as bitcoin but they can’t convince solana users to come back as they don’t care those features eth has

I truly believe that, as a bitcoiner, strong believer of the financial renaissance that bitcoin brought, it’s hard to find “descentralizad finance” as something bad. In fact, it’s a great complement to bitcoin idea and I wish one day we can do more even with some new bitcoin op codes
But on the other camp I still see one project after the other that add no value other than to VCs and few insiders. It’s a pity because I also see smart people traveling all over funded by those useless projects instead of having all that brain power focused on building for the real needs
Our events in the bitcoin camp are in many cases just repeating same stuff over and over which is also concerning me because I see a great opportunity to try, experiment and do it right within the bitcoin ecosystem

Imagine a world were through op_cat plus BitVm we can build trustless bridges and basically make all other chains in L2 redundant as we can absorb all of it under the bitcoin ecosystem having the best monetary base?

I don’t understand much about US laws and constitution but I’m still wondering why people think that 2nd amendment protects citizens from tyrannical government?
Let’s think for a bit:
- if a tyrannical government takes control, and assuming they control the army.. your guns at home are just like a water gun compared to the army’s fire power
- if a tyrannical government comes, constitution becomes useless and they can ban normal people to buy ammo and new guns
So unless most homes in the US has war level weapons, tanks, jets, and and enough ammunition.. then you will still have problems defending from a tyrannical government.
I hope that’ll never happen obviously but I’m still curious to understand why constitution is even relevant in the event a tyrant takes control

It already happened in the past. Provinces have autonomy to do that so for some, it was expected that instead of making the necessary cuts they would instead create money out of the blue .. I thought there would be more provinces but it was just that .. I think they will eventually drop it as it happened in the past

Even what the “values” are is changing. Most people today claiming their values are being affected are part of massive immigrations that shifted values to those from before
For instance the origins of my family are from France and Spain and misté people living in Argentina have similar heritage from Italy or Spain etc.
Surely those massive immigrations changed the values of those living in Argentina before we all arrived and here we are.
Most of all of us have some immigrant origin

There is a conflictive narrative in some parts of the world
On the one side we all want freedom and free markets
On the other side they all want import tariffs to block “other markets to steal local jobs” and they want “tighter immigration rules” for similar reason
So how does that work?. If you truly believe that markets in the end will adjust themselves why would you put restrictions on tariffs?. Why would you limit how many immigrant workers can come to your country?
I live in Argentina were, at some point in our history, immigration size was much bigger than the total population of the country .. waves of low class workers just finding some hope here.. escaping from wars and poverty in Europe at the time …
I can imagine what our country would be like if all that people wouldn’t have been allowed to enter
Then people from Paraguay Bolivia came in millions .. replacing some labor work from locals and here we are
Then Chinese.. basically taking over most of small neighborhoods super market jobs and here we are
Then Venezuelans came blending into our society across all levels escaping from dictatorship
Just a thought

Before moving to a stand alone house I was living in an apartment.. and in that apartment everyone needed to come together from time to time to decide on most of the things and vote
Almost no one wanted to be involved.. most people either don’t have time or don’t really care about optimizing every single aspect
Imagine if that simple thing of meeting in the lobby caused apathy, imagine now pushing all of us to have to deal with smart contracts “and” pay for contract fees for each decision
So what I’m saying is:
I love the fact that DAOs exist and I think they add enormous value to certain projects where before you had no chance .. but that doesn’t mean you can transform every single decision in everybody’s life into a smart contract vote because most people don’t care

There is some people out here that are suggesting we should use DAOs for everything and ley me try to explain why I think it’s crazy even if it’s technologically possible
For one second, close your eyes and think of a world were absolutely everything requieres you to align and vote
Even on simple things like what time the street lights go off, urbanism rules, how to synch the traffic light, what should be the content of your kids school, discussions about foreign policies , agreements on replacing the electric grid in your neighborhood for one that is more reliable, agreements on extending the metro line, discussions on how to allocate the budget of your city, town, country etc
And in addition to that, you also need to stay up to date on your career to remain competitive and also spend hours at work
Now, open your eyes… would that be possible?
Some people would say; ok you can delegate but how can I even know who is best across so many different topics. I wouldn’t have time to do that
So then you go back to delegating to a bigger entity that will in general have some principles that you agree with and then you delegate to them so they assign experts on every topic (even if then, those are not real experts)
So now we are back to where we are today

I’ll tell you a secret.. when I saw the halving block coming into my node with 40 btc fees and then the next one with 7 btc fees I though something was wrong .. then I noticed the fee rates and I realized that bitcoin was fine but some crazy people out there were spending money in fees for shitcoins and stuff

Not sure how to understand this point. I don’t think we should be ok with ossification. While we must be cautious and carful, and the stability of bitcoin consensus has been a feature, we got to accept that it’s not a finished job
If we want bitcoin to be used worldwide and self sovereignty to exist, we can’t assume that bitcoin will only be used in centralized layers .. we got to figure out safe ways to enable trustless L2 where full financial powers can unveil whole keeping base layer ultra secure
Unfortunately there is whole world that does not understand bitcoins superiority and they are using other chains on things that are valuable like moving stable coins or excusing them with bitcoin etc but all happening in less secure centralized options.. even myself launched a payment processor were stablecoins are used and I needed to use other stuff when I wish I could use bitcoin rails for it as on a personal side I just only focus my time on bitcoin
So things like op-cat or equivalents, helping BitVm work etc would do a lot for bitcoin and we shouldn’t cancel out that stuff or put it into a multi 20 years debate

hey... I think inflation creates massive distortion and incentivizes wrong behaviors
- Most people, in countries like ours, don't have much to save.. so broadly speaking they simply learn that there is no point in saving, you just need to spend in whatever thing as saving money makes no point.
- But I think the worst part of having inflation is that there is no credit. Now with that, you cannot save and also you cannot buy important stuff with credit like houses or cars etc.
People's only choice is to save in USD but USD also loses value on the long run.. if you want to slowly accumulate USD to buy a house in 10 years you will lose a lot of money...
So for most people inflation is just about spending all you have, hope your salary will catch up .. struggle for some time until it's adjusted and then spend again...
