I truly took the less traveled.

Fire separates man from beast.
It allows us life. Without fire we would be extinct.
Learn to make Fire now, while you are comfortable and rested. Notnwhen you are on the run and tired, desperate and cold.
Learn to make Fire with what you can find in the wild, in nature. Add to that the tools of modern man like a flint and steel, ferrocerium rod and knife, butane lighter, cotton, fatwood, gum wrapper and AA battery, convex lens, ice, water bottle... learn it all.
Building a fire is an art form. The flame is just a start. At the bottom on dry ground place the finest dry tinder like cotton, fine scrapped bark from cedar trees, steel wool, etc... Then layer very small wood shavings. Add a little bigger as you go up. I like a pyramid style pile with an opening to the tinder for the flame.
Protect it from the wind and rain.
Fire is life.
The tinder will take the flame, and the flame will consume the smaller kindling first and build to consume even big logs or trees.
Like a living creature it seeks out more food/fuel.
Don't let the fire spread from the place you want it. Uncontrolled fire can be destructive and deadly. This is a two edged sword. Fire is a weapon of war as well.
Practice the hard ways until it is easy. The easy ways will be gravy.

Survival Firearms
This subject has been picked apart, repaired and picked apart so many times it is uncountable.
So I will post my short simple ideas on survival firearms.
My first choice for a one gun carry is a .22LR target pistol like the Ruger Mark 2 or the Browning Buckmark. The ammo is light in weight and small in size, and inexpensive compared to center fire cartridges. Universal around the world even in some non permissive countries.
The .22LR is very deadly for size and power, punching beyond its weight.
If you can do so, a four inch threaded barrel and a suppressor allows for very quiet shooting.
Add a small red/green dot optical sight like the UTG and you have a close in sniper of a weapon for hunting and if pressed for defense.
That said, there are many better defensive firearms, like a 1911 in .45acp, and better hunting/defensive weapons like the AR15.
But for one gun, the little target .22LR pistol can do all of it adequately. Easy to conceal and light to carry. 200 rounds ammo weighs less than a cup of coffee.
For a pistol I prefer solid round nose bullets.
Hollow points don't perform well. They absorb energy to deform, robbing that energy that could be damaging the target. .22LR don't have a lot to spare. Go for depth of penatration rather than shallow wide wounds. Bullet placement is key. Sloppy shots might get you killed or make you miss a meal.

Sometimes inmates and staff are stabbed by other inmates.
After a particularly brutal round of gang fights and stabbings, the ER doctor called me.
He began by berating me and the fact 8 inmates had been stabbed in two weeks at the prison.
He said he was writing a report to the Secretary Department of Corrections about it.
I advised the doctor that we report via telephone and in writing each stabbing as well as other assaults within 24 hrs.
I then asked him if he knew that the major cause of death in the US was from medical malpractice? He got very quiet. I then advised him that none of my inmates died. I asked him how many of his patients died.
He hung up. I never heard from him again.
The Secretary called me the next day telling me that the doctor had called him.
The Secretary had a lot to say to that doctor about not practicing law enforcement and we would not practice medicine.

I am the real deal.
In the world of fake and fantasy there are few who are real.
I was Deputy Warden in one of the worse and dangerous prisons in Louisiana. Three and a half years in a combat zone from hell.
I responded to a knife fight in a prison dorm. Man was cut in both arms. Arteries bleeding and pumping blood all over the floor. My people stopped the bleeding and we had him airlifted to the LSU Trauma center. He survived.
I met him at another prison some years later.
He was in a line going out to work.
He pointed me out and said to another inmate, "He is the real deal, that warden there"
I never had any trouble from anyone there, ever.
Maybe that is a good thing. Hard to say.
Perhaps we shall meet on the streets and drink coffee like normal people. I shall learn about this "real deal."

We live in interesting times.
I highly recommend the Bug Out Bag in case of a disaster natural or man made.
Mine is geared to man made like civil war, riots, where everywhere becomes non permissive. Assuming all hostile until proven otherwise. Old school E&E the whole way. Low profile to get me home 21 miles over 3 to 5 days. Indefinitely if need be.
It is 30lbs at the moment, ever changing as the threat changes. Working on loosing 25lbs for health and take some load off the frame.
Might go back to a very basic kit of 12lbs as weather is warmer. Sleep under the poncho or stars, no fire, 4 hrs at most and back to moving.
Take into account the environment, blend in, be able to move through not being seen or not remembered if seen.
Take the kit and make a trial run, the whole way.
Know the problems and fix before you must do it to live. Shed what you don't need for weight and speed.
Thinking about a good suppressor for the target pistol. A good one means very silent himting.

We are our own worst spys. We carry our cellphone everywhere. Talk about personal and sensitive stuff over chats, social media, email, all without encryption.
Take a few minutes and turn off the phone, wrap it in aluminum foil, or leave it behind.

You just might notice someone assigned to follow you because they can not track you by cellphone. Learn how to dry clean to spot the shadow following you. If walking, use the reflections of windows, chrome on vehicles, watch face, to see the tail without exposing your suspicions. That and it is a lot of fun to catch them.

Donald Trump refusing to release the JFK assassination files, and Mike Johnson flip flop on the warrantless spying on American citizens,
It seems to me both were given a briefing prior to release, and they both changed their minds.
What did they see?
Aliens? Nemesis? Jerusalem descending?
Flat Earth? Another world about to collide with Earth? The moon hollow?
