About the conference: I was very happy to learn some days ago that such a conference was going to take place. I had some hopes that the previous Nostrasia would be a Japanese thing but apparently it was a full-on English thing with just foreigners and no Japanese people in it, so now I am happy that you're doing this one.
It was a blessing when all of a sudden we started seeing Japanese characters being sent to Nostr in the beginning of last year and I couldn't read them, but every time I tried to translate them I would get some pictoresque joke related to poop or alpacas, completely out of context due to the air-reply style of the conversation, naturally formed around the existence of relays dedicated to the Japanese community.
(By the way, me and some others have been trying to promote the idea of having "community" relays on Nostr for a while, and it oftens falls into deaf ears, meanwhile that was the first thing the Japanese community did, so that was very inspiring.)
I still don't understand the Japanese people on that are on Nostr, I've tried to talk to some members of the community in order to understand them, but most of the times I left the conversation more confused than before, but I think that is great and fits perfectly into the "embrace the chaos" Nostr ethos.

I just wanted to say I love zap.store and I use it for basically all my apk needs, by the way.
I like that you're keeping it somewhat closed for now, relying on your own relay with your own moderation, which to me is the right way to do it, as I said in #naddr1qq…85e2
But also I think that ideally you wouldn't rely on a centralized API. Having it be an open protocol helps, of course, but still it's not ideal. For some things I guess a centralized API is the best choice (like it's better to use Git servers instead of publishing code blobs or deltas as Nostr events) but it feels like this is a task that wouldn't require one? Or maybe it can be redesigned to work more as a relay instead of as a different protocol entirely? I don't know, just throwing my thoughts. What is the WoT service provider doing after all?

Sorry for taking so long to respond, it happened that this event didn't show up for me at all given the fact that I have a very strict set of relays advertised as "inbox" relays on my kind 10002 event and my main client, https://github.com/mikedilger/gossip, only checks these relays for events tagging me.
I'm using this opportunity now to say that clients should relay on that information in order to choose the relays they're going to use to publish events when replying to someone or tagging someone. Thank you.

Anonymous votes are worthless, we the ability to browse WoT votes, votes from selected niche relays, votes from paid relays as selected by the users.
Also the "choose relays" button is a stupid thing that redirects you to Primal? What does Primal have to do with the relays from which I want to see poll votes from? Or the relays the poll author has chosen to receive poll votes on? And obviously why doesn't it prompt me to login and just tells me with an alert that it is going to do a stupid thing and then does it without giving me any option to go back? Web-development was a mistake.

It's a conflict with the rest of the spyware you have on your phone that causes Amethyst to behave in a buggy manner, crash a lot and use tons of battery. For me Amethyst runs super smoothly, never crashes, doesn't use a lot of battery; for others it's the opposite. The solution is to stop using phones.

Hashtags are always and everywhere unreliable and incomplete. Labels used as hashtags plus people curating content manually or AI bots that apply labels are a much better way to create custom topical feeds.

One obvious solution mentioned by @npub1v0l…qj49 that had never occurred to me was that clients should default to fetching replies from the OPs inbox relays and let them decide if they want their reply section to be filthy and full of spam or a nice place.

I'm using a list of "spam-safe" relays but apparently I am missing a lot of replies from people whose clients are sending their replies to my inbox relays.
When browsing other people's notes, though, this technique doesn't work well or needs more thought because people replying to others are not going to send their replies to my own inbox list of relays.

I have just started running @nprofile…auwv and timestamping all events published to pyramid.fiatjaf.com with NIP-03 (OpenTimestamps). The timestamp events, kind 1040, are published to @npub18kz…x5sz's cellar.nostr.wine which is not going to delete them -- and to some other relays.
Somehow this will protect the humanity against the AI takeover in the future, so I recommend other people to do the same with other events. The source code is at https://git.fiatjaf.com/ots_nbot and you can customize the relays, kinds and authors it tries to timestamp, among other things, via environment variables.

Well, I think no one is adding relay hints in the follow lists, but yes, I think you should do that -- it doesn't have to be synchronous though, a client can fill in that field the next time it is going to update the follow list.
https://github.com/nbd-wtf/nostr-sdk will look in kind:3 these hints. Actually I think even the sample code that runs in this simulation will.

nostr.0xtr.dev is not marked as SpamSafe, that's why I attached that picture, to display which ones are marked as safe from spam. And then I went to settings and turned on the SpamSafe toggle (I didn't know that had to be turned one, but nonetheless I did).
And then I posted that note and immediately got spam replies from nostr.0xtr.dev.
But now I'm thinking that that was because I had to restart Gossip first for the SpamSafe toggle to start working.

I have now read Peter Todd's review on Bitcoin L2's and covenants and found it incredibly underwhelming. Even though the title is "review" I wasn't expecting it to be really just a review. It basically contains no new insights or analyses, actually it refrains from commenting on most topics based on the fact that "there has been no analyses of this" and then it just proceeds to provide descriptions of things that should have already been known by anyone who did a little bit of research into any of the topics. While reading the essay you get the impression that all L2s are bad and no soft-forks are worth doing, but then in the end it does some sleigh of hands and concludes that CTV is great just because it is the highest common denominator among all the pool of uselessness described previously.

I would only give that title to something that is interoperable or potentially interoperable with other apps. Some random spammer abusing relays as free storage isn't a real client, for example.
An app can also use Nostr identities and consume Nostr data but not want to be interoperable, and I think that makes it not a client, or a partial client, but that isn't a bad thing either. We don't have to use Nostr events for things not suited for Nostr events.

I really don't get the people that complain that they don't get followers on Nostr because there is no algorithm.
I never got any followers in any of these platforms with algorithms (even though I used them actively for years), except when by some unexplicable hit of luck some people started using @lntxbot on Telegram and by word-of-mouth it got to Alex Bosworth and he mentioned it on tweet and then my follower count slowly grew from 50 to like 5000 over a 3-year period.
Is there a magic trick that allows you to go from 0 to 100000 by gaming the algorithm these days and then scam your followers a high-ticket course about how to get followers and become a millionaire? Or what are these people talking about? Why do they even want followers in the first place?

I was just thinking that it would be good to define a standard for recipes on Nostr, probably with a different kind, with some relevant tags. The current way is kinda bad because it abuses the long-articles NIP and then includes some proprietary (and very long) "t" tags. Do you have any thoughts?
And then we need some other client to prove that the standard is good and then to show how can you display or interact with recipes differently.
