I planted on 4.13 under a cold frame, so I might harvest now and replant for a late fall/early winter harvest. At the ENT, the doctor offered to drain the fluid from behind my eardrum on the spot, so I had to get a hearing test first--so I got to find out that my hearing is normal, which is good. npub189kckdr62vsuyatp0q289y49545w27vk952fga046rsm5ekx0wkqucntg0 Nicole M. Wolverton I haven't been to see an ENT since I was a little kid-- when I had tubes put in my ears-- but here I am, largely for the same reason: water trapped behind my eardrum that won't respond to any attempts to solve it via medication. Wolverton @npub1l0y…uj3e When everything was cooked to the right consistency, I added about 2 or 3 Tbsp of white wine vinegar (regular old white wine would probably be okay here too), salt and pepper. I'm waiting for it to cool to have a cup, but I may end up adding a bit of potato to make it chunkier. We'll see. Wolverton @npub1l0y…uj3e I also put in at least two or three cups worth of the water that I boiled the beans in to thin it all out. It came out a very good consistency--not thick like split pea soup, but not super thin, either--it was like loose baby food, if that makes sense. I sauteed an onion, sliced up five or six carrots and sauteed them too (now I wish I had roasted them first), combined all that with the cream of green bean soup, and put in about two cups of wax beans broken into bite sizes. 2/ npub189kckdr62vsuyatp0q289y49545w27vk952fga046rsm5ekx0wkqucntg0 Nicole M. Wolverton @npub1l0y…uj3e Okay, so the green of green bean soup turned out better than I could have imagined. This is a loose recipe that can be adapted easily. I boiled all the string beans I had awaiting in use in the fridge, which was easily 8 or 10 cups. I probably let them boil for about 10 minutes or so. I cooled them off, then put them in the blender (in batches) with about five handfuls of basil, easily about two garlic heads' worth of roasted garlic, and 10 roasted jalapenos. 1/ npub189kckdr62vsuyatp0q289y49545w27vk952fga046rsm5ekx0wkqucntg0 Nicole M. Wolverton So I'm finally starting to sleep a little better. I started using a cpap machine in early April, so that's about 5 months.
