But the concept is very interesting and actual use was smooth once onboarding was done. npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello Did you notice that the developers at https://clams.tech/ only put a link to their NOSTR key in their personal links section? There's no Xitter or other centralized networks. NOSTR-First. *Clams is an interface for CLN nodes, establishing a secure and encrypted connection through the Lightning Network. Once the user sets the permissions, the app allows for sending and receiving payments, among other functions. You can use various payment methods, such as Keysend, BOLT11 invoices, LNURL, and BOLT12 offers. The app also assists in managing Lightning channels and offers a dashboard for financial control. Being a Progressive Web App (PWA), Clams runs on any device with a browser. It provides a mobile experience similar to Zeus, while its desktop version more closely resembles Ride The Lightning in terms of usability. Clams is focused on privacy, does not keep logs, does not use trackers, and keeps all data stored on the user's device. npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello Which communities on zapddit do you recommend? https://arata.se/zo4ys npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello You must travel! You have to enjoy life, live experiences! Right? Not necessarily. Look, we often think that to be happy we need to be always doing something grand or living unique experiences. But the truth is that happiness comes from within, not from the things we do or have. This applies to material goods, such as cars or smartphones, as well as to experiences, to love, and relationships. If we believe we need to travel to have a good life, or we need someone else to be happy, we will feel incomplete until we find that person. So, try to change the way you see your desires. Instead of thinking "I need this to be happy," tell yourself "It would be nice to have, but I can be happy without it." Give it a try: write down your desires. When you don't fulfill those desires... then what? Do you feel unhappy? Now, think about the opposite. What if all your desires were fulfilled, would you never want anything again? Would you be completely happy forever? Probably not, because as soon as we get something, we immediately want something else. Desires are INFINITE. Fulfilling them can bring us momentary joy, but that happiness doesn't last. True happiness is not in getting what we want, but in being content with what we have. So, it's normal to want things. But these desires shouldn't control our happiness. By finding joy within ourselves, we minimize suffering and find peace. This involves practicing gratitude, valuing the relationships we have, engaging in meaningful activities, living in the present moment, and appreciating the small things in life. In summary, the key to happiness is not found in external experiences or in fulfilling all our desires, but rather in cultivating internal satisfaction and appreciating what we already have. https://nostr-arata.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/s-improvement-003-C-s-m5jKqn.mp4 npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello NOTHING IS GRANTED. I'll explain the 2 tips below: (Oh, and a bonus tip for iPhone users: buy an Android. The Apple App Store has abusive practices that worsen every day, making life difficult for developers and users) 1. Use Obtainium to download app APKs. Obtainium is an app that allows you to download and update open-source applications directly from developers, like on GitHub. This means you can get the latest versions quickly, without waiting for Google Play Store approval. It's useful for those who want the latest features or security fixes immediately. This gives you direct and fast updates, without intermediaries. It brings the latest versions of apps to your device, ensuring you have immediate access to improvements and fixes. Download Obtainium: https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium Enable installations from unknown sources in Android settings to install. Configure Obtainium: After installation, launch Obtainium. To add an application, copy the URL of the project of interest. Add Applications in Obtainium: In Obtainium, tap the "+ (Add App)" button, paste the copied URL, select the necessary options, and tap on "Add". Obtainium will search for the correct version of the app for your phone and monitor the currently installed version. 2. Use Amber. Amber is an application designed to better manage your private key. As you should know, in Nostr, we don't use a username and password. We use a public and private key. And if you enter your private key in a lot of places, there's a risk it could be compromised forever. Amber allows you to securely store your Nostr private key in the application, which simplifies the authentication process across different Nostr clients and services without the need to repeatedly enter your private key. Got it? The main advantage of Amber is convenience and security. It centralizes the management of your Nostr private key in one place, reducing the risk of exposure or loss of the key. With Amber, you can easily sign Nostr events using your stored private key, facilitating secure and efficient interaction with the Nostr ecosystem. Amber Link: https://github.com/greenart7c3/Amber Special thanks and Split Zap for the Nostr tip: @npub1u79…0uud - thanks Capivara! npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello 🚨 SCANDAL: TODAY, BITCOIN JOINED WITH SHITCOINS. And that's good for you. Here's why: Have you seen what Citrea released today? A scalability few expected for Bitcoin... becoming compatible with Ethereum (EVM compatibility). HUH? Well, now that I have your attention, I continue with less hype: You may have heard that altcoins serve as a laboratory for Bitcoin. And many people criticize Bitcoin saying it doesn't scale or that it's just a pet rock because it doesn't have smart contracts. These criticisms make some people look towards cryptos, but what they don't realize is that if something truly good appears on these other networks, Bitcoin can and will incorporate it. Enter Citrea. Citrea brings a big novelty to Bitcoin, allowing it to make many more transactions and even become compatible with EVM, which is the basis for Ethereum's smart contracts. This shows that Bitcoin is not stuck in time, unlike what some declared enemies of Bitcoin keep saying as a FUD strategy. Using a technique called zero-knowledge proofs, Citrea doesn't focus on hiding information, but on making the system scalable, confirming transactions without needing a lot of data. What Citrea does is bundle several transactions outside of the Bitcoin blockchain and then only shows a tiny proof that everything is right, without clogging the timechain with details. This means you can do a lot more with Bitcoin, without losing the security we like. With Citrea, Bitcoin begins to use smart contracts similar to those of Ethereum, without needing to change how Bitcoin works underneath. This opens the door for Bitcoin to do things that we previously only saw in other currencies, such as automatic exchanges and other decentralized financial functions. In other words, the "edge"/differential of shitcoins that declared themselves different is over. Next time you're feeling down because you want something you don't have or you're upset about something you do have, remember this: it's all about how you see things. https://nostr-arata.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/s-improvement-002-C-s-SSv5fd.mp4 When you're stuck wanting something: It's like this - imagine you're convinced that having a certain thing, like a fancy car or the perfect job, will make everything better. Instead of fixating on "I need this to be happy," try thinking, "It'd be cool to have, but I'm okay without it." This little switch in mindset can lift a huge weight off your shoulders. It's about enjoying what you've got right now, even as you maybe look for something more. And when you're dealing with stuff you wish you didn't have: Say, a tough job or a health issue. It's super easy to get caught up in how much you want things to change. But sometimes, leaning into what you're going through, finding small things to be okay with, can make a big difference. It's not about giving up hope for something better, but it's about not letting what you're going through right now take over your happiness. npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello Fungibility ≠ Traceability Bitcoin is fungible, although it can be tracked when it is on-chain (base layer). These are two distinct concepts. Fungibility means one bitcoin is equal to another. This is a key characteristic of the asset. To understand non-fungible goods, the classic example is a piece of art, which by its nature is unique and does not allow for one item to be exchanged for another using compensation, which is part of the law of obligations. On the other hand, traceability refers to the ability to verify a transaction history. This allows for the creation of contracts between parties with specific specifications. However, it remains within the contractual freedom between parties: it does not affect the fungibility of bitcoin. For example, an exchange may decide not to accept bitcoins that have been part of a CoinJoin. This decision of the exchange is made through its terms of use (contractual agreement with the exchange user). This situation is similar to the functioning of traditional currencies. The dollar is also fungible. One dollar has the same value as another dollar of the same denomination. However, each dollar bill has a unique serial number. This makes it possible to track the movement of individual notes. I made a video a while ago: https://nostr-arata.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/s-bitcoin-001-C-s-AKYQZ4.mp4 Whoever finds money like in the video clip needs to take into account that the serial numbers are listed somewhere very likely. And if certain notes are on a list for being part of illegal activities, a bank may refuse to credit the value and even report to the authorities when a customer tries to make a deposit. In both cases, the legal definition of the asset (bitcoin or dollar) continues to be fungible. Saying bitcoin is "less fungible" would be similar to saying the dollar becomes less fungible in the case of tracking serial numbers. Another common argument is in the case of Ordinals and "rare sats" affecting fungibility. Again, this is a contract between parties. And contracts between individuals do not modify legal nature. Similarly, there are collector markets that buy dollar notes with unusual serial numbers: https://arata.se/xexhq and this does not change the legal, fungible nature of the US dollar. This is why the concepts of fungibility and traceability are separated. The ability to trace does not change the inherent property of fungibility in bitcoin or dollars. It simply adds a layer of information that may influence the decisions of certain parties, based on the history or origin of the assets. npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello A young student, eager to learn, sought out a renowned mentor. He asked how long it would take to achieve mastery. "Ten years," the mentor replied. Not satisfied, the student proposed to dedicate himself fully, reducing sleep hours and doubling his efforts, hoping to speed up the process. "Twenty years," the mentor stated. This story teaches us that haste can be an obstacle. Yes, it doesn't matter what the party is, whether it's left or right: Understand the COBRA EFFECT. Basically, sometimes government solutions to problems can end up creating even bigger problems. Let's talk about the Cobra Effect. This name comes from a situation that happened in India when it was a colony of England. The government wanted to reduce the number of cobras. And then? Well, they decided to pay for each dead cobra delivered to them. It seemed like a good idea. But people saw a chance to make money. They began to breed cobras to sell to the government. When the government realized this, they canceled the payment. Then, people released the cobras. There ended up being more cobras than before. Something similar happened in Mexico City in the 1980s. The city had a lot of pollution because of cars. The government made a rule. Cars with certain numbers on the license plate could not drive on certain days. The goal was to decrease the cars on the streets and the pollution. But people began to buy more cars. Many were old and polluted more. This did not decrease the pollution. In fact, it increased. 🤡 These stories show that simple solutions can bring complex problems. They teach us to think carefully before accepting that the government has all the answers. We need to avoid solutions causing more problems. This is the Cobra Effect. It's a lesson about thinking carefully about the consequences of actions. https://nostr-arata.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/s-theory-01-C-s-d7r3.mp4 npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello DOMINO EFFECT: Imagine the government decides to raise the minimum wage. If you are, say, the owner of a café. This sounds like good news for your employees. But your costs go up and profits stay the same. Because of this, you have to make difficult decisions. You might need to lay off some employees. It's not what you want, but there isn't enough money to pay everyone. You try to reduce expenses. Maybe you use cheaper ingredients or reduce services like air conditioning. This changes what it feels like to be in your café. Fewer people might want to come. Another option is to raise prices. But this could drive away your regular customers. If only the wealthiest can afford it, you lose the essence of your café. This could lead to losing sales and, eventually, having to close. This problem is an example of the Domino Effect (aka Knock-on Effect). A government action leads to a series of unwanted changes. It's important to think about all the consequences before making decisions. https://nostr-arata.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/s-theory-02-C-s-7N7uDJ.mp4 npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello Today's special tip: @MostroP2P - similar to @lnp2pBot but uses Nostr to be unstoppable with censorship resistance in #bitcoin transactions through the Lightning Network. (By the way, have I mentioned today that NOSTR is better than Twitter? Well, I have now) To use Mostro, you need a Nostr key and a Lightning wallet. I'm still figuring out how it works, but from what I understood, if you want to sell your satoshis, Mostro generates an invoice. When someone agrees to buy, both of you communicate through Mostro to make the exchange. It doesn't matter which fiat money (or other crypto) you use. That's up to you to agree on. And then the payment is sent directly from the buyer to the seller. After both confirm the transaction, Mostro releases the seller's sats to the buyer. Here's what I learned from @npub170d…chu7 : Payjoin is a variation of CoinJoin, wherein the sender collaborates with the transaction recipient to conduct a joint transaction. Originating from BIP-78, crafted by @npub1zfy…m60l (the creator of @npub155m…dcvg ), it addresses a key problem in typical transactions where a sender pays a merchant. This problem is the 'common-input ownership' heuristic. Simply put, when I send you money, all the inputs are usually mine. Moreover, transaction outputs often reveal the recipient and change due to differences in address types (change-scriptpubkey) and the presence of rounded, larger, or smaller amounts (change-round-amount). Payjoin mitigates these issues: For the recipient, it provides a chance to consolidate their coins. They can even make payments in the same transaction where they receive a payment. For the sender, it alleviates privacy concerns related to the mentioned heuristics. Payjoin is becoming popular across several implementations. I did a search and looks like since 2020 this was in the works: https://twitter.com/HillebrandMax/status/1253682677774983170 Hey @npub167h…schc - I'm not sure if this is really your npub - I tried to use find it in https://wasabiwallet.io/ and could not see a Nostr link and https://www.nostr.directory/p/wasabiwallet told me user is not found. We've all seen how Big Tech uses engagement algorithms to keep us hooked. They strategically throw at us everything from rage bait to polarising content and hyper sexualised content (most would agree that Instagram is more erotic-powered than Xvideos itself). Now, Nostr's supposed to be our breath of fresh air, right? We should not take it for granted. Let's have a frank discussion on Clients. Think about it. The teams developing Nostr Clients have the incentive to want more users. I love what they do and I'm grateful for it. Of course we all understand market forces and it makes sense that Client teams need to become financially successful. This is how it will become sustainable. So, in a hypothetical scenario, Client teams may do some implicit or explicit partnerships with influencers. It's a bit like scratching each other's back – you help me get users, I help you get followers. Important: I'm not accusing anybody of this. I'm just saying it is a POSSIBILITY. The incentives are there. Ever noticed how, right after you join some Nostr Clients, they're already nudging you to follow certain big names? That's not just random. Could there be some deal behind the scenes? We may never know. But it is POSSIBLE. And this possibility by itself is already quite worrisome. And what about those Nostr "Highlights" or "Trending"? On the one side, it can be seen as a useful feature to help... on the other side, this is editorial intervention coming from the Client to steering the ship towards certain content. Could Nostr Clients be motivated to simply give interesting content and help new users stick and reduce churn? Or could there be the aspiration to have power such as the one from Big Tech determining what to add to our feed and what to shadow-ban? Once again: I'm not accusing any Client of doing this. I'm very grateful to have the possibility of using nostr. However I'm pointing out IT IS TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE that Clients get too much editorial power akin to Big Tech, boosting certain content for whatever reason coming from them and this alone is very worrisome. So when I hit the zap icon on a Note, it asked me to open Breez. I have no idea if there is a setting in iOS to change what is the default app for a lightning: request Anyway, I got my old iPhone and also opened noStrudel with a browser. This old iPhone only has Wallet of Satoshi. It does not have Breez. So I was hoping it would associate the zaps with WoS. However, it did not work. On the browser there is only the modal "Zap Event" and both the ⚡️Pay button on right side and the ⚡️Pay All button on bottom are greyed-out. Any ideas if there is any change to noStrudel that can be done so those zaps could be done via WoS? npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello This is a small bug when creating a new Secret Key on iPhone. Once the user decides to generate key straight on noStrudel, the screen to select relay will be cropped. The title "Select your relays" does not appear, not possible to scroll the screen down enough. I hope it's easy to replicate this. If you've never drunk, substitute it with anything you wouldn't like to see circulating publicly). Those videos would be quite embarrassing if shared, right? The best way to avoid that is simply NOT TO FILM. Even if you try to protect the videos, even if a constitutional amendment guarantees that it's unlawful to try and access those compromising videos... the risk of them leaking later is still greater than if you had never filmed them in the first place. Well, this directly relates to the new technology for tracking our carbon footprint. They want to measure everything: how and where we travel, what we eat, what we buy. You think that might be useful? But think about this: such data is like those embarrassing videos. Once they are collected, they exist. And if they exist, there will always be the risk of someone, at some point, accessing them. And using them in a quite unexpected context. I'll leave it to you guys to comment on what the possible problems are. About 25 years ago, the Internet was really, really cool. It was a cradle of ideas. Any kid could play around, remix, and create things... and it might turn out to be a big success. But then gradually, some boxes started to appear. Friendster and Orkut had a whole universe of information just for those who had an account. Years later, Facebook did the same thing. Now, there's no grassroots innovation. Good luck to a little kid trying to create something new. No one will see it. Everyone spends all their time on Big Tech apps. To have a chance on the internet today, you need venture capital and spend years burning millions in the red. A bizarre economic model from the fiat world. Look at the average person. They spend a lot of time online doing what? WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Zoom, TikTok. They really BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE INTERNET!!! And then they go to sleep to repeat the same thing the next day. The average user doesn't realize that these are CLOSED apps. You can't do anything creative/interesting in them except follow the exact commands that the overlords have set by architecture for THEIR interests. (Go on, click like! React to this rage bait, fight among yourselves, stay as long as possible in the app to swallow as many ads as possible) Nostr makes the internet fun again. Anyone can take the protocol and invent whatever they want. Think it's silly that certain influencers are "recommended" by the client? You don't have to use that client. There's another Nostr client that doesn't keep pushing suggestions of who to follow. Annoyed that your feed has a lot of memes? Make a fork and set a rule that you don't want to see Notes that are purely a URL (which indicates someone sharing an image). https://image.nostr.build/b6ee50564f374e50a4531232bba6a168c99b8036c7b7b542d170e9bec420a518.jpg THE WORLD IS YOURS Thank you @npub180c…h6w6 - who gave us this gift @npub1xts…kk5s - who is brave and ethical fighting Apple App Store crazy demands and resisting shitcoinery offers on daily basis @npub1wyu…87ez - I love your client @npub1sg6…f63m - who did a valuable POWER-UP that made the whole difference @npub1get…0nfm - such powerful tool and at the same time encouraging all users to go through the learning curve and fly by themselves eventually with their own wings/server (just loved reading your interaction with @npub1h8n…rpev and how you encourage us to plug our nodes at a given point but keep using the extension) and all community members who are here participating in this glorious moment after two decades of proprietary Internet darkness. Thanks a lot! npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello 🐰🎩 - Revealing a bit of the didactic approach I use Imagine that I want to talk about something I consider important but has many technical aspects, like the risks of CBDCs. First and foremost, I like to think about the person who will be listening to me. Will they be interested, or will they find it boring? For those who have no prior experience with the topic, it may be excessive to start speaking directly. The problem with dumping a bunch of technical subject matter is that it can make it seem like it's: -boring (doesn't seem relevant or interesting), -complicated (doesn't make sense, hard to understand, terms defined that haven't been explained), or -gibberish (the reaction is "wow, what you're saying is crazy talk, man" without the person even understanding). To facilitate communication, one way is to start by talking about something they already understand. Put them in an imaginary situation. Show them things they can verify (e.g., serial numbers on banknotes, as shown in the video below), and then finally touch on the topic I want to address (the risks of CBDCs). Let me know what you think of this teaching method. If you have other examples or approaches to share, I appreciate it. Let's learn and improve together. https://video.nostr.build/5fbe4685c849675fbf38bae6a89b732cd4123324affa81aad08d053d5ba327bb.mp4 npub187c8yedmqmss7fxtzqya4vphfkazl04lvrz7cp5xghhwzjduc4rqkcwd0t hello @npub1zfs…w445 @npub18z6…n6df will you please let us know when we can do Login with extension?
