Having said that… what if #ActivityPub or at least the various platforms connected to the #Fediverse mycelium network, use Libravatar?

I keep noticing how reputable individuals (scientists; professors; etc) are using “PHT” instead of the law-mandated “PST” and “PhST” for the Philippine Standard Time.

Although, foreigners who live here sometimes say their own government is worse. I guess it all comes down to how much is the political system used for the benefit of politicians and their allies?
If so, then yes, that's definitely true with our country, and possibly other Asia-Pacific countries. The corruption is just… crazy.
We don't even have standardized measurements outside of the government. I mean, a simple thing like that? Only government agencies were mandated to use SI and Metric. It's why it's so confusing purchasing drinks (for example), because everyone use either Imperial or Metric; and they have their own measurement for “small”, “medium”, and “large”.

Yes, that's correct, problem is, most ignores it. The only ones I've seen, at least personally, who stops and ask are those with techie background. And it's headache once something happens.
Part of the problem, from my experience, is that there are actually people who tell users to just “click it”, even inside a corporate environment. Which is then passed on and, well, turns into “oh, ignore it, just click it”.
Or, the worst argument, “if you have nothing to hide, it's fine”.

A common misconception is that 443 (HTTPS) & #DoT #DoH can prevent ISPs from monitoring and modifying your requests. Nope. They have a tool they use to redirect _and_ fake certificates (and the user is none the wiser) so they can monitor it.

Basically, it's Matrix + Jedi vs Sith + AI + Aeon + Contact + Jung_E + Akira + Terminator + … you know what, forget it. It's a mashed-up of multiple Western, Korean, and Japanese science fiction films and anime. Was it intentional? Probably not, but it was definitely inspired by a lot of other great films. The CGI and scenes firmly established where the inspirations came from.
It's good enough. The story is there, if we are not careful, AI can take over. Think of it as a 2024 retelling of an AI gone mankind's doom.

Also, I'm wondering why no photographers and creative folks set up [multiple] instances.
I mean, during the first Twitter mass exodus (Japanese side), Misskey, Pleroma, and Mastodon instances went online one after another. Which was then repeated during the Twitter exodus 2 (Western side).
Then there was the Reddit exodus, and Lemmy and Kbin instances sprung up everywhere.
It's a wonder why that, I don't know, “formula”(?) did not happen in this case. I mean, granted, Cara has been around. But, there were also other platforms around during the earlier mass exodus events.
Hmm… I guess there are few techie people in the photography and creatives community of Instagram? Or, they were disenfranchised by Threads one-way federation? (Other than so very few talked about Pixelfed.)

Contrary to what is written on Wikipedia, the claims by blockchain enthusiasts that “Web3” was first coined in 2014 by an Ethereum co-founder, the term “Web3” has been around since 2007, at least according to these online records:

Web3 is broad, and blockchain is just one part of it, **not** _the_ Web3.
Also, the argument that there's a difference between “Web3” and “Web3.0” is invalid. If you track, at least what's on Twitter, the two have always been interchangeable. (Also see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web3 )

Yep!
It's also super annoying because every request you make, you need an SMS 2FA token. And somewhere, it will get delayed for 5 minutes if they're sending to the same number too fast.
Just earlier, I had to wait 5 minutes to send a new token. Then when it arrived, it sent the first one and the new one, with the same “received” timestamp, so I have to guess which one is correct.
If you get it wrong, you have to start all over again. (Luckily, this time, I guessed correctly.)

The lines are now blurred, especially since the primary source of definition was the Wikipedia article for “Fediverse”, and that often changes when someone randomly takes over.
Personally, back in 2010, if I remember correctly, I simply called everything as #DDFON or the “Decentralised, Distributed, Federated, Open, Network”.
That basically covers Jabber/XMPP, Matrix, OStatus (back then, before ActivityPub), Diaspora, DFRN, Zot, those crypto SNS, today's ATproto, and Nostr.
Last year, based on the two or three polls I did, I started calling it as:
1. DDFON as #MycelialWeb.
2. Each “network in the MycelialWeb is called a #Mycelium or #MyceliumNetwork.
In nature, a mycelium is a network of mycelia. A collection of mycelium is called Mycelial (and they look like a web together).
It wasn't my idea, someone suggested it. (The instances were the polls were, sadly, are gone.)
So:
* #Nostr Mycelium
* #ActivityPub Mycelium (or #Fediverse)
* #ATproto Mycelium (or #BlueSky / #Bsky)
* #Matrix Mycelium
* #XMPP Mycelium
* etc.
A collection of mycelium is called the Mycelial Web.
Maybe confusing, the Mycelial Web can simply be called #SocialWeb. It was what all of it together were called back in 2005-2008 anyway (no idea how it fell out of use).
So, a collection of Mycelium networks is called the SocialWeb, which the Fediverse is simply one Mycelium network.

When IU debuted in 2008, majority of people who saw her debut performance looked down, dismissed, and laughed.
I was one of her first fan from the Philippines, more likely in the first 5. From 2008 to 2012, I actively promoted her, and converted new IU fans. During K-pop events in the Philippines, I played her song loud, no one recognised her. No one cared.
Yesterday, 2024, she held a sold-out concert in the LARGEST indoor stadium in the world, in Bulacan, #Philippines.
The experience of a being fan when a celebrity was still unknown, and no one believed they'll be successful, and you helped them in your way, is indeed far different than being in a fandom.
You can proudly smile and say, “I watched her grow through the years.”
(If only there was a futures stock for celebrities, I would have been a millionaire like IU. :P )
I'm so happy for her. If you see things objectively, you see talent from afar. ^_~
That said. Don't dismiss new talents just because. All they need is time, support, and well, a very supportive agency. IU's actual “first generation fans”, when people still dismissed her, saw her talent and we did not give up on her.
That's what it means to be a true fan.
Promote them. Convert new fans. Watch them grow. ^_^

Ahh! It's the other way around. ^_^
Scrobbling started with Audioscrobbler, to track music per device (similar to #WhatPulse for tracking keys you type per device) and provide statistics.
Then Last.fm came, and the two started to get closer and eventually merged.
The community aspect of Last.fm was combined with Audioscrobbler's tracking, and voila, scrobbling + social aspect as we know it for the last 20 years.
Of course, then came Libre.fm and GNU fm. The former further established the social aspect / music discovery with scrobbling; while the latter championed self-hosting (which of course doesn't have a social aspect and discovery if it's a solo instance). And of course Maloja and everything else similar to GNU fm.

I have nothing against him. There are meanings behind road names, and “Lawton Ave” is not a positive meaning since the US transferred control of the camp to the Philippines.
The camp was originally known as “Fort William McKinley”. It was established in 1901 during the Philippine-American War.
Henry Ware Lawton was killed during the Philippine-American War, and thus, it is understandable it was named after him.
However, after the war and the #US occupation of the #Philippines, the connection of the name started to, allow me to say, “degrade”.
By 1949-05-14, the US officially transferred control of the camp to the Philippines, and it was renamed to “Fort Bonifacio”, in honour of the #Filipino hero, war veteran, first revolutionary general, and the founder of #KKK, Gat Andres Bonifacio.
This effectively and logically changed the meaning of “Lawton Ave”. It is no longer about Lawton's achievements, as that was from the American perspective.
From the Filipino perspective, “Lawton Ave” means:
1. Mortal enemy #1
2. Multiple failed attacks against President Emilio Aguinaldo.
3. First and only US General killed during the Philippine-American War
4. Highest ranking American officer killed in both the Spanish-American and Philippine-American wars
5. First US general killed in overseas action
As a human being, those are definitely not a good way to honor someone, regardless if they were an enemy or not.
Imagine this, a Filipino tour guide explaining the history of Fort Bonifacio and they're on a bus traversing Lawton Ave. Do you think a Filipino guide will only mention how Lawton was a hero, especially when he was _only_ a hero from the eyes of the Americans?
It is only very important to rename Lawton Ave in Fort Bonifacio to Gerónimo Ave.
1. General Gerónimo was the Filipino sharpshooter who fell General Lawton.
2. We should honor General Gerónimo for valiantly facing a battle where the infamous (Filipino perspective) General Lawton was in the midst of it.
3. In addition, it will be the Filipino people's final honor to General Henry Ware Lawton. Though he was an enemy of the Filipino people, he still deserves respect as a soldier and as a human being.
Renaming his namesakes is an act of respect and honor. We should not remember him as an enemy, no matter his personal disposition for/against the Filipino people. He was a soldier. He did his job. He fell on duty during the war.

Also, the GCash app hate any devices with Developer mode set to ‘on’.
It is part of the Philippine fintech movement to “blame the customers instead of improving our security”. It started last year 2023.
Their argument is that the accounts of their customers are getting compromised because of the #Android #Developer mode.
I highly doubt half of those compromised account have Developer mode ‘on’. I know a lot of people who don't even know what in the world “Developer mode” is, yet their accounts were compromised regardless. And I'm seriously tired of it because they all come to me when I don't even work for GCash (and if I can't help them, I'm suddenly ungrateful, blah blah blah).
Anyway, to _supposedly_ solve it, banks and fintech companies are now blocking all devices with developer mode ‘on’.
LOL. GCash even added “another layer of security”: they won't allow anyone with the setting “install from other sources” turned on. Guess what? There are highly popular brands from China/Taiwan with “install from other sources” turned-on by default. The phone that was stolen from me was one such model and brand. There just was no way to turn it off (unless you root it, which itself will be detected as well).
I stopped using GCash after that. I can't even use their app.
Basically, banks and fintech in the #Philippines are implementing “security measures” that are not even the the reason why their customers' accounts are getting compromised.
Instead of improving their systems, they blame their customers.
For example. BPI is the largest and richest bank in the country. Yet to this day, they still rely on SMS two-factor authentication, which is the weakest of all 2FA methods. All it takes is a simple social engineering, and most people fall for that and they don't even know it (there were cases of these back in, more or less 2018 but nope, they did nothing, they just blamed their customers). Or, get your phone stolen. Ordinary thieves are far more knowledgeable than we are giving them credit for.

Within my own circles, we agree that the most confusing are Trinoma > ATC > Robinson's Galleria > Robinson's Place Manila, in that order.
SM Malls, at least those they designed directly (not bought), are mostly generic. (Note: SM Mall of Asia, still the largest mall in the Philippines & 6th in the world, is currently confusing because of the major on-going overhaul.)
Ironically, Ayala-owned malls are generally confusing, with the exception of Glorietta (the layout is like a spiderweb). Trinoma and ATC are both Ayala-owned.

Yep! Something with the 90s and early 00s video games really attracts.
I guess the simplicity and lore? If compared to modern games, it's too much eyecandy and concentration on learning the game mechanics, than actually enjoying it. I'm not sure, it's so hard to nail what it was with classic games that modern games are missing.
Even in consoles, I'd rather play Family Computer games than modern console games. LOL. And yeah, emulators! Get a modern machine and play classic games! (I'm so guilty of that too.)

It's still a welcome, considering the already _escalated_ situation, wherein, China is just waiting for the #Philippines, and its allies, to make a mistake. We definitely need every protection there is right now.
My question is, since I'm not knowledgeable with the Typhon system, would it have been better if they deployed it in a different region instead of near Taiwan? I mean, as far as protection it can give goes.
