You could try either,
a. just not having a state, which the few attempts of having that has led to the takeover from outside forces and the loss of communism in the few.
b. or, you could try just leaving the state there in place, but that would no longer be communism as communism aims to be stateless.
the idea of a transitional state is to help a communism country safely become a communist country, with some security but that state would eventually become irrelevant.
