Left home with a headache and a #Garmin Training Readiness score of 12/100 🤔. Managed to blow the headache away by #HydePark.
Quite a breezy day, but wonderful to see some sunshine. The battery is low - in general, not just physically. It may sound strange given that we live half our lives in Southern #Spain, but I’m in need of a holiday. A complete break from work for a few days, to reset.

It’s not hard to see why this is one of my all time favourite #running routes.
I never tire of the view descending Paseo del Parque, often with the run rise over the sea, glancing off to the right as I turn shop left to see if #Gibraltar is clearly in view, topped by a solitary cloud (as often is the case) or shrouded in mist.

Back in #Andalucía and it was wonderful to wake up to a blue sky, even though it’s still a chilly (for here) 8 degrees.
I missed a couple of runs this week, making it even nicer to get out. I was beginning to feel claustrophobic by the end of yesterday.
I’m also looking forward to rolling the mat out later. I didn’t #practice at all in London and the tightness in my right IT band needs stretching out.

The running #torch that Carmen bought for my birthday was great heading through St James‘ Park this evening. The sudden contrast from headlights, streetlights and brightly lit shops on #TheStrand and #TrafalgarSquare means my eyes don’t have time to adjust and it’s suddenly like running along a country path! But two settings and headlamp tilt meant I could run with a little more confidence tonight.

Hurtling towards another big one. 58 today. Celebrating with a lovely run through Battersea Park, in the opposite direction to all the club runners flying by at sub 7 min pace! 🚀

This morning’s run was nothing short of awful!
Spent a day in the car yesterday - London to Derbyshire and back to see my mother. I felt completely dehydrated, tired, and even dizzy at one point. I’m definitely not on top form.
Despite five weeks without gluten or sugar and some lovely, fluid runs, the level of fitness I’m aiming for is taking much longer to achieve than I’d hoped.

Commute run home from office. With my aging eyes, dodging the commuters (with heads down looking at smartphones) by zigzagging in the dark is more challenging than I‘d like!
It’s hard to get any rhythm on a rush hour urban run (in the dark), but it’s always a great way to star or end the day. I feel refreshed and ready to eat!

And that’s what #restorative yoga is for me. Relaxing and invigorating. It’s the perfect cure for muscles tired or sore from a hard (or long) #run. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

@npub1j6u…n4gr it’s a lovely route. They’ve put in all the pavement, lights, crossings, etc., but the apartments haven’t been started at all so it’s like having a 10k running track with amazing views and climbs all to yourself. Out the front door and off I go! Heaven!!

Zone 2 Run 🏃‍♂️
Well, I did it. I found it completely different. Excruciating, tbh. But, I’m going to try to stick to the Z2 training, for three runs each week to see if my pace quickens on tempo and hilly runs.

@npub15ea…a2ud Feels like that path has been there for years, if not decades. There's a gate with "public footpath" at either end. Otherwise we wouldn't have walked it.

If you’re able to do so, take a walk. And pause for a moment. There’s plenty of reality to enjoy. Better still, the only batteries required will be recharged with every step you take.

@npub1u04…vgvc still using Strava and RunGo when I’m in a new place (though I think Strava does the route planning, I’ve always used RunGo for that - old dogs, new tricks and all that.) good luck with marathon training and race.
