How can you be sure that the other person or exchange has received the correct
Bitcoin address that you sent them?

By making use of public key cryptography, you can create an encrypted message,
which includes your withdrawal address, your account ID and a secret. It is
encrypted to the known public key of the exchange (or person).

The exchange then decrypts the message and presents the user with the secret.
This way, the user can be sure that the exchange has definitely received his
Bitcoin address.
This protocol does not exist yet, but if there is sufficient demand for it, we

It's planned that both server and client side is open source and the only thing that will be proprietary will be the way the VMs are only active when the user connects etc.
I expect that there will be compatible competitors in the future, which will be great for the user!

So, I get the argument that Bitcoin will stay something niche for most people, similar to Linux. I think that's certainly the case currently.
We can build bridges between fiat and Bitcoin, but like proton or wine, they will always add friction.
What do you think is needed to overcome this nicheness? Would it actually be bad if Bitcoin stays less user facing and more relevant in the backgroundy, like Linux?

You've had years to set up cheap LN channels and aquire inbound liquidity by spending from it.
Stop thinking about LN as cheap payments and more about a way to split one tx into many.

I agree mostly. Their integration suddenly makes coinjoins possible for a great amount of people that couldn't do so before.
Yes, you probably can't mix the coins you hacked from bitfinex but I'm sure those people are savvy enough to find other ways to reclaim their privacy.
In total it's a net positive for Bitcoin and it's simply embarrassing to think that some people just shit on it because Samourai guys are FUDding it.

If you use an algo that Monero uses, there is more economic incentive to developing an ASIC.
Just create a new algorithm. Nobody is going to go out an create an ASIC just to spam Nostr. Even if they would, you could change the algorithm slightly and make them worthless.
