It depends on the mint - you received ecash from Umint.cash in this case. When you send the ecash to primal, Umint melts the ecash and sends bitcoin from its lightning node to Strike's node (which is the Primal backend). Umint pays the fees to get it there (which they could pass onto you).
Boardwalk is just the ecash wallet.

Yes! With Boardwalk you can only share stablecash, but I've found its easier to send a friend $1, show them how its interoperable with any lightning wallet like Strike or Cash App and THEN explain sats and the separation of money and state 😉
As long as you don't clear the cache or delete history, it will be there when you reopen the browser.

Bitcoin payments are worse than traditional payments today. Lightning usage is low. We are falling behind in user growth.
But, the combination of nostr and ecash has the opportunity to dramatically change the #bitcoin payments experience.

Potential app revenue opportunity?
With NIP87, any social app (i.e. @npub12vk…pugg) knows that you recommended a mint. A marketplace like BitcoinMints.com wants better/updated ratings and would be willing to pay @npub12vk…pugg to show a NIP87 “post” in the feed asking “How’s your recent experience with the FREEMadeiraOrg mint?” and a 5 star choice to only users that previously recommended a mint. Apps make money, marketplaces get better reviews.
Bad example (I’m just thinking about mints a lot), but an interesting concept I think 🤔

The ecash is issued/redeemed for btc from a specific mint but could be sent around between different users/clients many times. at any point a holder of the ecash could swap to another mint via lightning or redeem it to a lightning wallet. this is why its important to have a transparent marketplace to know whether the ecash you're holding is actually worth anything and if you should continue to hold the ecash or swap it.
