Interesting observation about social media “fun”:
Some people think #Bluesky is “fun”. However, I find it anxiety-inducing and stressful. I’m not the only one who thinks so. A few autistic people say the same thing.
#Calckey seems “fun” to me because I can make it be what I need it to be. For example, it’s nice that I can create antennas devoted to my special interests.

So why dwell on the desktop?
But even with the desktop, I already mentioned Chromebooks and WSL.

It doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t like Mastodon because there’s probably something else that utilizes ActivityPub that will be preferable to them.
Or maybe not ActivityPub. Maybe Zot or AT instead.
Point is, this is where social media is going.

Truth be told, the Linux paradigm probably will be what becomes of the Fediverse.
What will happen is that most people will use the thing that gives them familiarity and comfort.
Which is fine.
But soon we’ll see the Fediverse begin to unlock things we didn’t think possible.
Weather trackers will use it. So will video games. It will be used on millions of websites.
Most people won’t know because it will simply power *everything*.

#Bluesky engineer confirmed to me that a PDS can opt out of BGS indexing.
Which also tells me that AT protocol (and Bluesky) will allow defederation.
So there you have it, @npub1eee…e209.
If you use AT protocol, you will be able to defederate from other servers for both petulant and non-petulant reasons.

Seriously, @npub1eee…e209, Mastodon is a non-profit taking on a corporation with $13 million in funding.
This shouldn’t be a competition, but it is.

#Bluesky envisions that there will be multiple PDS (personal data server) which connects to a BGS, which then connects to an app view that filters the data through a relevancy algorithm.
To give an analogy, it’s like operating a single user Pleroma server that connects to mastodon.social, which then lets a client (I think) parse the data from the BGS.

A BGS has relay functionality, but it also stores and indexes data too.
Basically, a BGS is Google.

A troll just tried to post here.
Their troll post doesn't display on @npub1gsm…5y8l, nor is their post boosted by the Group.
Even better, they're not notified when they are blocked 😉
Until comment controls come to Friendica, moderation here will mostly have to be reactive.
I will continue using venera.social for groups until a better solution comes along.

I found the source of the bug!
If you tag a profile in Mastodon (ex: @npub1gsm…5y8l, then include the URL to that profile, Mastodon redirects the URL to the profile.

Basically, mastodon.social is hiding the originating URL by redirecting it back to the profile on mastodon.social:
https://venera.social/profile/fediversenews
Thus making it *seem* like it's a Mastodon account when it is not.
