I’ve been making new glass panes for #Lazarr! today.
Filter glass removes color components of lasers. For example, a green filter glass removes blue and red.
One-way glass allows lasers to go through only from one direction.

I’ve been experimenting with flowers in #HadesRevisited today.
Most plants in the game need dirt to grow, but a few plants are special and resist the harsh conditions of the volcanic landscape and grow even on ash.

This update is all about plants.
New and better trees, finalized all the half-finished trees (coconut, cocoa), improved plant+flower pot, improved moss and vine behavior. And various items and blocks made from iron.

It frustrates me to read in the news that several organizations have started to #trash many functioning computers just because #Windows 10 was EOLed.
WTF. You rather throw away 1000s of computers that weren’t broken and contribute to e-waste than go out of your comfort zone ONCE and learn about #FOSS operating systems?
The e-waste problem is already bad enough, don’t make it WORSE.

What I like the most about the #EndOf10 campaign is that it DEBUNKS the corporate bullshit from #Microsoft that #Windows users MUST upgrade to Windows 11 or else it's game over for them.
This is not just about #FreeSoftware vs proprietary software, but about a destructive ideology that implies producing megatons of e-waste is a good idea.
Meanwhile, the FOSS community is LAUGHING at Microsoft's face while installing libre OSes on 19-year old computers.

To be clear: If people get mad at both Microsoft AND GitHub, that's still a win-win for me. 🙂
If a news like this is what it takes to move people away from GitHub, I'm all for it! But I'm worried the same people will just go to the NEXT random proprietary bullshit, so the systemic problem is not fixed, you just answer to a different owner now.

Also, "no longer independent" doesn’t make sense to me. GitHub was already under MS ownership, that’s hardly independent IMHO. But I’m not an expert on US law, so …

This foundation makes zero sense. Claims to be for the "open future for social networks" but then has Meta a partner, has socials on X and Threads (but somehow not Mastodon (???)). Meta and X are 100% antithetical to this goal, it's all proprietary garbage. They’re enemies, not friends.

Good riddance! Defederation is totally justified 👍, we don't need to open the floodgates for bigotry.

The #38C3 presentation about the massive #Volkswagen data leak is over and the leak was as bad as it sounded. 100,000s of cars could be located down to cm precision. Also a lot of metadata that is NOT supposed to be public. Disturbing.
The main takeaway was that the real problem here wasn't the leak itself, but that this data was collected in the first place.
I agree. It's not a good idea to create mountains of very personal data and then pray it never leaks.

I've been again working on integrating the islands map generator into #Lazarr! I rewrote the level position logic, which previously was constant, but now it is variable, and levels may now spawn in any position of the world.
Levels will be able to choose one of multiple "backdrops". They can be set either on the deep ocean, or somewhere on an island.

Apparently the #SciHub censorship in #Germany is "just" a #DNS block, so it's not very elaborate.
