@npub1cmg…rzd2 about this, Mastodon uses "client_max_body_size 99m", so nginx handles max upload size before Mastodon itself.
It is in the official docs, but with the ceiling is a little higher.

Tramontina virou uma Multilaser, né? Uns meses (ou mais de ano) atrás comprei uma maleta com pontas de furadeira e parafusadeira. E questão de um mês estavam todas enferrujadas e hoje estão um caco, apesar de ainda funcionarem.
Também tínhamos comprado um daqueles potinhos com conjuto de talheres. Hoje praticamente não temos nenhum garfo dele pois todos quebraram.

@npub1cmg…rzd2 I understand you, here I have more than enough stamina than my server needs. But it's ready to grow, not too much (because of some weak links in the infrastructure), but yeah. And also it's something I like to work on and improve.
My bare metal server also has 32 GB of RAM total but 6 GB are allocated to the Mastodon VM. If needed, there's more juice.

@npub1cmg…rzd2 looking to avoid it, I'm using Backblaze as cheap media storage offload.
Mastodon is crazy, a real mammoth, I was also getting no space left, and a reboot didn't solve. Other than the user's media, there's also the fediverse cache.
I reached more than 600 GB of it, but now I took some steps like Backblaze itself and setting prune crons everyday. Now everything is stable at 10 ~ 40 GB here in this small instance.
Here are the crons for you to tweak for your taste, as it may be aggressive:

tootctl statuses remove --days 1
tootctl media remove --prune-profiles true --days 1 --concurrency 10
tootctl media remove --days 1 --concurrency 10
tootctl preview_cards remove --days 1 --concurrency 10
tootctl media remove-orphans

Accounts that never interacted with your users will be pruned just like remote statuses, orphan media, preview cards and this stuff.
