very fast: subscribing to changes to a Zk directory gives you a Pubsub notification on the client on change, and then you wait a small random interval and slurp the entire endpoint list and materialize them in your local cache as a file.
This also turned out to be very robust, if you know a thing about Unix and code it right.

Dazu kommt noch eine Hausbatterie, 20 kWh LFP.
Das muß, weil bis bisher weniger als 30% des selbst erzeugten Stromes nutzen.
Die Saldierungsregelung, die das bisher attraktiv gemacht hat, das Netz als Batterie zu nutzen, wird nun doch mit Sicherheit enden und Einspeisung wird auch Mehrwertsteuer kosten.
Das ist schade, aber energiepolitisch nicht falsch -> viele Häuser werden Batterien installieren -> Netzpuffer.

Das Buch ist und bleibt eines der wichtigsten Bücher zum Thema.
Nicht nur wegen dieses Kapitels, sondern auch, weil es die drögen Standards und Normen, die es inzwischen zum Thema IT-Prozesse gibt, mit Leben und praktischen Anschauungsmaterial füllt.

Der Genickbruch für die Amiga war, ab Werk, das OS, und gleich zwei Mal.
Zum einen war es so, daß eine 68000 CPU keinen Speicherschutz kann, und daher jeder Prozeß auf alle Adressen zugreifen konnte.
So haben viele Amiga-Programme routinemäßig direkt auf Hardware-Register oder Kernel-Strukturen zugegriffen, statt Systemaufrufe zu verwenden. Das war auch notwendig, da das OS teilweise langsam oder unvollständig war.

Auf der anderen Seite stand dann ein Mailbox-System, das einem dann mit Hilfe von vt100 oder ANSI-Steuerzeichen eine TUI auf den Schirm zauberte, nachdem die Verbindung zustande gekommen war.
Dort stand man vor demselben Problem, das Telefonnetz nicht zu schrotten, indem man etwa illegales Equipment mit selbigem verband.
Aber wie nimmt man ab, automatisch, wenn ein Anruf kommt, wenn man dort nichts elektrisch anschließen kann?

Dazu kommt, daß wir derzeit eine Rentier-Kapitalertragskrise haben.
Daher werden verzweifelt dreistellige Milliardenbeträge auf experimentelle und ungetestete oder gar komplett hirnrissige Technikideen geworfen, in der Hoffnung, daß das das nächste große Ding ist.
Das erzeugt Überinvestments von bis zu 100x, die absolut schädlich sind – für die Investoren, aber auch für die Unternehmen, in die investiert wird.

Das würde ich so nicht voll unterschreiben.
LLMs sind an Geschichten trainiert worden, die Menschen einander erzählen und manchmal sieht das wie Antworten aus. Wenn man das glaubt wird alles schlimm.

You also want somebody whose job is technical
and whose job grade enables them to lift their gaze from the path to the horizon to go over the chat.
They would start interventions when they see questions that are unanswered or answered "wrongly."
And by "wrong,"
I mostly mean cases where it is obvious to them

Of course, chat is not a good medium for support.
If you do support in a chat, you would want a chat with good threads and encourage people to open a thread per problem.
You would also need a bot that can turn a thread into a Jira ticket,
either after the fact in order to get tracing data out of the threads,
or if it turns out that the support case results in a work item that cannot be resolved immediately.

It is demonstrated.
Because that is what builds trust.
Someone demonstrating to all who care that they are actually right more often than others.
Or even better, when they are wrong, it is less painful than when others are wrong.
These are not the same thing, and in reality, the latter is more important than the former in most cases.

Another thing that happens in almost any company is
that somebody comes up with the brilliant idea
of asking people about the things they are good at and to assess themselves in these areas.

In this particular case, it’s because I’ve been immersed in an environment where a certain type of activity,

was done implicitly by everyone around me.
The environment itself facilitated this implicitly as well.
When I entered a new environment where this practice was not performed and the means to facilitate it were not present,
it became really hard to communicate what was missing.

Der Söder Strompreis
Deutschland hat genug Strom, aber nicht genug Netz. Technisch besteht es aus mindestens zwei Strompreis Zonen. Das ist so wegen Spezialexperte Markus Söder.
Gestern war Stromauktion ohne Importe aus dem Ausland für den kabellosen, von Frankreich abhängigen Süden.
Finanziell ist Deutschland eine Strompreiszone. Daher also zahlt ganz Deutschland den Söderpreis.

Es ist nämlich so:
Wenn ich den Tempomaten vom Auto in eco auf flauschige 100 km/h stelle, und dann eine Stunde lang durch die superplatten Niederlande rollere, dann bin ich 100 km weit weg von daheim und es sind 15.000 Wh weg. Also knapp zwei Tagesverbräuche von heute oder nicht ganz der halbe Einspeiseüberschuß von heute.
Oder 15000/100 = 150 Netflix CDN Server Betriebsstunden, also etwas über sechs Tage.

Netflix ist mit den Bluefields dann noch einen Schritt weiter gegangen, und hat das für Videostreaming und low power optimiert.
100 Watt für eine CDN Büchse dieser Größenordnung ist Faktor 5 besser als was Peter gebaut hat, und das schon nicht schlecht.

Naja, auf den Kisten, die ich Probe gefahren habe, hat ein MySQL 8.0 aus der Kiste > 400.000 QPS gemacht, und nach Optimizerung locker > 1.000.000 QPS, und die Kiste war dabei auf der IO-Seite fett überprovisioniert.
So viel parallel access, daß man 24 NVME mit je 800.000 IOPS ins Schwitzen bringt kriegt man mit einer Datenbank nicht hin.

Kernel TLS löst das Problem, weil man jetzt wieder dasselbe splice(2) Zeugs wie vorher fahren kann, und dann ist es ein Problem des Kernels, wie er da das TLS rein macht.
Und wenn der Kernel Netzwerk-Karten mit passenden Treibern hat, dann macht der Kernel splice(2) im Klartext wie vorher und die Netzwerk-Karte hat ein Stück VLSI, das da TLS drüber macht, während die Bytes durch ihre DMA gepullt werden.
Das ist kTLS mit Offloading.
