If you found it, you couldn't take any #Bitcoin without knowing the other half of the private key.
Every backup plate should only ever have half of your your private key.
Either 12 of the 24 seed words (128-bit security), or seed words without the passphrase (up to 128-bit security depending on the strength of the passphrase).

I'd always recommend that you never take anything #Bitcoin-related through an airport.
Each metal backup plate is important for preserving a permanent physical record of (half of) your private key. ie. Half of your 24 seed words on one plate, and the other half on another plate, hidden in a different geographical location.
For 24 seed words, this provides 128-bit security for each half.
When traveling anywhere, you could email yourself 12 seed words (with an encrypted email account for belt and braces. eg. Protonmail), then do the same with the other seed words on a completely unrelated device, and unrelated email account.
If anyone views either half of your private key, they can't do anything without the other half.
NB. Splitting 12 seed words in two is a lot less secure (64-bit per half).

Why store your #Bitcoin seed words on a solid metal plate?
1. A solid piece of metal is robust.
2. Multiple small pieces could result in permanent loss of data if separated.
3. Screw-close mechanisms could become permanently sealed shut if galling or cold-welding occurs over time.

I admit that this is an extreme example, but for the sake of $100, you could store your Bitcoin backup seed words onto something specially designed to be corrosion-resistant.
This is why Domino plates are made from 316L (marine-grade) stainless steel.
But why not titanium?
Titanium has a similar strength to stainless steel, at almost half the weight (an advantage for aircraft); however, titanium is more brittle. Furthermore, a UC Berkeley study found that titanium becomes even more brittle with just a few extra atoms of oxygen... “[it] is like poison to titanium" ...not a good quality for long-lasting, robust storage plates: https://news.berkeley.edu/2015/02/05/oxygen-titanium/

Why split Bitcoin backup 24 seed words into two parts (words 1-12 + 13-24), & store in separate locations?
This eliminates the risk of catastrophic loss that could occur if all 24 words are kept together.
24 seed words = 256-bit security
12 seed words = 128-bit security
or...
Using seed words + passphrase, offers superior two-factor security than just splitting seed words.
The advantage is that each separated part can also open valid Bitcoin wallets (with a few sacrificial sats), hiding the very existence of hidden wallets.

If you create/manage a Bitcoin wallet with a hardware signing device, you should be aware that each device manufacturer might use different derivation paths, or redeem scripts.

The beauty of the Bitcoin difficulty adjustment is that it increased as hashpower increases... currently about 350 Exahashes per second.
How long before a supercluster of ASICs is powerful enough to brute-force open a wallet with just 12 seed words?
10 years? 50 years? 100+ years? Who knows?

I've been doing it for years with multiple copies of seed words and passphrases all in separate geographical locations (even in different countries) 😉.
I'm all good, with multiple opportunities to recover if any one, two, or three is lost or stolen.
No-one can access funds with only seed words, or only passphrase. 👍
