(I sympathize sufficiently with instructor that my opinion is likely biased. I learned on a manual typewriter. H.S. physics instructor insisted we learn to problem solve with a sliderule before using a calculator. As previous mentioned, I took up metal typography to learn why typefaces work [and don't].)

Right, UFO didn't age well 4 decades+ now, much social commentary can be made in retrospect (e.g. hot sexy female officers in the command chain and forward deployed was alas still progressive then, only a few years after Lt Uhura, but make the uniforms even hotter);
but Space 1999 didn't age well 2 weeks, or even 2 commercial breaks, if you took physics and didn't take drugs while watching.
Serious refrigerator logic fail.

FWIW, reportedly, very late in HPL's short life, his Aunt from whom he got much of his politics returned from visiting Germany, and was quite disenchanted with Adolf's (u-)(dis-)topia; reputedly HPL moderated a number of his views accordingly, but wrote so little after that that shift, if real, is not reflected in published works much if at all. I would be interested in your archivist friend's reading on that!

that reminds me of the viral reports Sgt York AA test. Its radar locked onto the porta-potty's ventilation fan (it was a General Officer grade portapotty) as matching Helicopter profile. (Was it range-folding, not realizing it was much too close?)

(Intentionally Dual-Use R&D is fascinating subject of its own. The CORONA satellite camera required a super-flat anti-astigmatic high-magnification lens. The ITEK Photo-Typesetting system was the dual-use cover, public-private partnership, and exploitation for the lenses' R&D. When CORONA finally was declassified, we had a nice presentation on this synergy from the ITEK type designer at The Museum of Printing.

Connecting 25 & 26 CYORA, I remember during the previous AI Summer of mid 1980s there was interest in making spending research $$ to reify the fictional setup of _3/7 Days of the CONDOR_ -- AI reading everything to predict/find incipient terrorism.
(CONDOR setting was partially true even then: CCA M204 text database was dual-use CIA with NLM Index Medicus as the open sponsor; marvelous system. IDK if they had OCR as in the film, or a lot of keyboardists.)

Sondheim aside, assassination is a _political_ murder, so the Po-210 killing by FSB was both murder and assassination.
But yes, ^terrorism^ *should* be understood as a form of psychological warfare with collateral damage (including murder) and not used for every act of disagreeable political speech and attacks on legitimate targets, and your distinction of murder vs terror is solid 👍 .

While i was awaiting parts to finish repairing a toilet tank, our cat learned to leap onto the edge of the uncovered tank and slurp/lap from the tank. (Far better than dogs drinking from the bowl!)
So i replaced the lid with a drinkable gap and better footing, but small enough gap even leaping she wouldn't overbalance the cantilever. She preferred this fresh source to refill-required bowl&bottle dribbler contraption.
