I like the term "Load-bearing shell scripts." If it starts getting past 20 lines and you're using it for CI/deployment/tests/etc. you should replace bash/sh/zsh with something else.
Why the Python hate? Python3 is pretty stable, and even has type hinting. Virtual environments and uv are your friends. Although at that point it's no longer a simple shell script, but if you really don't want to use a venv, almost every linux distro has the major libraries you need (requests and such) in the package manager.

I think Season 1 of Westworld was interesting. By 3-4 it really goes off the rails. But I also think that was predictive programming in some ways (some of the characters wore scamdemic masks in scenes filmed in 2019).
I'm glad I stopped watching Stranger Things after season 2. The believeability and story telling was already on its way out in that one.

What is a Christian anyway? The only thing that makes you a Christian is that you say you're a Christian. One thing Christians seem to have so much trouble wrapping their head around is that it's literally a self identification.
I've heard some people say "you're only a Christian if you accept Christ's gift" or "Christianity is defined by Christ's sacrifice" or something about the holy spirit. These are cliches in the faith that aren't really legal tests.
It's the "No true Scotsman" situation. You also accuse me of "looking for reasons to hat Christians." Another fundamental aspect of Christianity (dating all the way back to the the early church ~300 AD) is the idea of victim-hood as virtue. Their bills shouldn't change though. The big companies enter into dedicated/reserved prices for AWS/Azure instances. The reason ram prices are insane is because Micron has exited the consumer market and Samsung has cut back a lot. Even though a lot of the specialty high-bandwidth memory is getting soldered directly to nvidia compute units, they should still be demand for a ton of expensive RDIMMs, Registered ECC and other modular enterprise shit.

I hope you're right. This seems worse. This is a larger spike than the the one back in 2018 when DDR4 prices doubled due to the Samsung Note recalls. Even back then, people knew Samsung would be back into the consumer market. Who knows when Micron will come back .. and they're only three major memory suppliers in the world.

I don't use Gapps. I don't even use microG. I don't have any social media. I don't play any mobile games (I have Star Realms installed/synced but haven't played in months). I use the camera, music, podcasts and very rarely, Here maps/navigation.
I still have a felling even with all my scale-down and customization, it might run like shit with 4GB of ram because that's just how insane base-Android has gotten.
I'd look at Linux offerings, but I really like the Camera on the 1 V and how the Sony camera app will just work without any GServices.

Yea it's a similar situation with memory as with Silicon. Samsung, Intel and TSMC (with TSMC dominating) own the silicon space. All of them depend on the Dutch company ASML for their UV Lithography machines, who depends on Zeiss in Germany for all their glass lenses ... all of whom depend on one glass/quartz mine in the Eastern US that refines quartz pure enough to use in silicon fabs.

People like to say we're in a post-scarcity wold, but I don't really think that's true. Stuff is cheap and food is plentiful in the west but we're not in the Star Trek universe of near limitless energy from di-lithium crystals, and the power to replicate anything by rearranging atoms.
That's really the only situation where work could be _optional_. Even then, only a small subset of people can make their own value without specific work. Capitalism has really allowed people to outsource their labor to add greater value to a whole. Most of the people who enjoy making transformer windings in a factory don't really have the creative capacity to make anything of value on their own; something those who despise factory work as beneath them, can't understand.
People are **not** inherently equal. Making a world that's enjoyable to live in despite our inequity is far different that those who want the forced dystopian equitable world found in stories like _Harrison Bergeron_.
A world without money would be much more like the series _The Expanse_ and much less like the world of _Star Trek_.

The x86 architecture can be power efficient. There were Atom chips that did well and there were a few x86 Android phones. The Edison platform (x86 Raspberry Pi-type systems) had a lot of stability issues, but Intel could have attempted to fix them instead of abandon it.
Intel did drop the ball there, but I still think the architecture can be made power efficient. The trouble with ARM is that it is not an architecture. It's random shit soldered to random pins, which is why the mobile device market is filled with e-waste and non-recyclable paperweights.
The biggest problem with x86_64 is the barrier to entry for competition. Intel owns x86, AMD owns the 64-bit ISA, they cross license to each other and the only other player left with both licenses is Zhaoxin (VIA). There's no way Intel/AMD will grant anyone else licenses, so real advancement/competition is impossible.

oh yea, them too. I remember having some good borscht in Moldova.
Australians put beat root in everything: salads, sushi, on top of burgers. They even have beat root flavored potato chips in the grocery store.

History likes to rewrite wars to be more popular than they often were. No one talks about the benefactors of WWII; American Standard Oil led by Prescot Bush (father of H.W.) who sold petrol to the Germans, Americans and English; Henry Ford who built the railways for the Germans, the royal bank of the Netherlands who profited millions from the war, the Winsor Family, etc. etc.
The "psycho power plays" are incredibly effective on a small but significant part of the population, to start getting the conveyor belt going.

I knew a guy who grew some of his own and he said it was terrible. He then learned about all the crap you have to do to cure it properly so it doesn't taste like shit. I think he said he used some kind of molasses paste? .. or maybe it was honey?
