centrist, passive, "undecided" and apathetic voters make up the bulk of most nations... the incentive to barring the "right" will be to prevent "radical" politics from taking root
Whether we like it or not, our leftist ideas ARE considered radical by the majority

yeah, there's little to no leeway with some people.
But, better to be blocked than engaging in some conversations with some people... once you are a target you'll never be "right" and you'll just dig a deeper hole for yourself.
30 minutes later after a conversation like that you'll be ready to report yourself to the police for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Disengagement, while seemingly personally unfair, is the best outcome.

I certainly understand the "inclination", because I'd have no problem putting a swastika in the blue square of the US flag...
and Israel being an ethno-nationalist state, I don't see much of a problem calling it fascist or fascist-lite.
I readily admit, I don't have much empathy for respecting "sensibilities", but sometimes there's just a "too far"
Comparing is legitimate, outright calling it Nazi is different
simply, overstepping some boundaries can be racist.

As critical as I am of the government of Israel, I have never agreed with the practice of superimposing a swastika on the Israeli flag.
While calling Israel an ethno-nationalist apartheid state may be apt, superimposing a swastika on the flag flagrantly dismisses the horrific history and suffering associated with it, which goes way too far.
Even if the intent behind this action is protest and not antisemitic, the reality is that it is, regardless of the intent.
