You're describing co-ops and levers of power for labor. You're NOT describing a tested replacement for an entire cultural system. Everything you've described operates *within* capitalism.
I don't believe capitalism is good or inevitable. I do know that it's naive to think "gosh darnit if just believe hard enough this will all go away."
Systems of oppression will not cede power willingly, nor will people fight for that without a viable replacement.

Man, you're not wrong. But renewables are already an uphill battle that won't come anywhere near addressing our climate crisis.
If I had to choose for the moment RIGHT NOW, I'd take solar panels and their toxic materials over oil and IT'S toxic materials + greenhouse emissions.
I might also argue that the lithium battery industry is maybe even worse.
And I also argue that all tech production is inherently exploitative of poor workers in the global south. Everything sucks!

I think Mastodon's biggest benefit is also it's biggest hinderance: decentralization.
I have plenty of places to talk with smaller interest groups already. What Twitter provided—what I WANT from a social network—is a big town square where I can interact with lots of people I wouldn't otherwise.
BlueSky fills that niche far better than Mastodon.

My counter argument, I guess, is that if an editor that broke accessibilty and CSS on thousands (millions?) of sites and forces folks into a more convoluted dev setup needs to "win over users," maybe it shouldn't exist in the first place? At a minimum, not the way it's built.
This is a UX smell to me that says it's not solving real problems in a way that users want.

The use of lit is a separate conversation that's unrelated to how Shoelace has decided to implement their Web Components. Lit could be used with progressively enhanced Web Components, or JS-required ones.
That said, I think using a dependency to create Web Components completely erodes the "platform native and dependency-free" selling point.
