They present me elaborate architectural documents, troubleshooting documentation, helper scripts, etc - and it all just doesn't really fit together. And those people don't have the slightest clue what they're doing, besides letting their agent cobble everything together, seemingly working until it doesn't - and then I'll have to deal with it.
I'm thinking about putting up some limits here - allowing myself to reject those cases as soon as it turns out that there was #AI involved.

On every job, I somehow became the person people go to for help, when they're stuck with obscure issues or technologies in the stack no one else has experience in.
So far I loved tackling those, since it often meant debugging challenging issues, helping people out with knowledge, simplifying things by pointing people at the right tool for the job etc.
But recently, this started changing: people approach me with quite complex, often incoherent issues - and it turns out: it's mostly #AISlop

unbundling, now that they secured their massive market share through those practices seems quite pointless.
Let them pay like hell, so that their profits made from those unfair practices are dried up and they don't just end up, calculating those penalties as expenses as part of their strategy.
Then put all this money into #OpenSource #EuropeanAlternatives

auch bei rein erneuerbaren Energiesysteme gibt es Transport/Wandlungsverluste. Bei weitem nicht so drastisch, wie bei den Fossilen, aber um sich gegen dümmliche Argumente aus dem fossilistischen Lager nicht angreifbar zu machen, sollten diese ehrlicherweise beinhaltet sein.

if you don't want to/can't tinker with too much low-level tech stuff, the easiest way of getting started with #HomeAssistant might be this ready-made appliance which comes with HomeAssistant pre-installed:

Hier hat sich vor einiger Zeit ein #Biber aus einem kleinen Rinnsaal einen ordentlichen Teich geschaffen.
Und ich bin positiv überrascht, wie es hier aufgenommen wurde:
So viele Leute sind neugierig über den neuen Mitbewohner, dass über die Presse und Schilder vor Ort die Menschen gebeten werden mussten, Ruhe & Abstand zu wahren
Die Gemeinde #Kusterdingen hat dem Landwirt, dessen Fläche überflutet wurde, unkompliziert eine Ausgleichsfläche überlassen.

a friend of mine implemented nix-fused more than 10 years ago (unfortunately as a corp-internal non-public project) which just pulled on demand whatever was needed to execute a random binary into the Nix store.
I believe there was a recent talk at #NixCon or so where someone reimplemented the same idea...

es ist insofern nachzuvollziehen, dass man keine Kontrolle über die Endgeräte hat und damit nicht weiß, wie gut notwendige Maßnahmen zur Einhaltung der Datensicherheit umgesetzt sind - in aller Regel ist das Niveau hier unterirdisch - auf irgendwelchen verranzten Privatgeräten, ggf. sogar mit Familienmitgliedern der Lehrperson geteilt usw.
Aber wie im vorigen Kommentar schon erwähnt: die Abwesenheit von Dienstgeräten ist dermaßen absurd, das ist schlichtweg unanständig.

I haven't! Didn't have much time back then, but might give it another try now and will see if I can solder the power supply, since only very specific ones seem to properly work, so keeping the current one might be worth it.

loved them! Ordered 4 of them back then - 2 for the family, 2 for recipients in need selected by the project.
They were in use for many years. Just half a year ago or so I tried to ressurect one of them, but the lack of modern TLS on them and a failing power supply gave me a hard time.
