A large sponge, a cluster of anemones, and other life is seen nearly 230 meters deep at an area of the seabed that was very recently covered by the George VI Ice Shelf in Antarctica. Sponges can grow very slowly, sometimes less than two centimeters a year, so the size of this specimen suggests this community has been active for decades, perhaps even hundreds of years.

Animal perception, cats vs dogs
So interesting how the cat perceives the rug as no problem but the dog sees it like a human would as scary.
All this means is that dog brains are more human like, than cat brains?
Either the cat has a lot of perception of reality or he's careless.
Tranquility the perception of the cat is amazing!
The dog saw the cat go by and still didn't believe it! 🫢
Animal perception is very different between species.

‘Two giant, school bus-sized, blubbery whales, sometimes weighing up to 40,000 kilograms, coordinated a jump at the same time. I took this image off the coast of Lennox Head, northern NSW, this winter, Saturday 5 July. We call it the humpback highway; every day you can see whales jumping. This was a rare opportunity to capture two at the same time.’
